Warning: Spoilers
The film Ghosts of Mississippi told a story of a court case of a african american man that was killed by a really racist man that blamed every race and religion other than his own for every problem in the world. The story goes back into the past and dives into a case that hasn't been opened for over 20 years and goes on a journey that will put a man that has done wrong and got away with it with the help of a racist judge in prison for the rest of his life. There was touches of added funny parts throughout the movie to lighten up some of the more heavier scenes, but the rest of the movie was a very serious and true story. Some of the actors in the film was James Wood, Alec Baldwin, and Whoopi Goldberg. The movie was shown in a way that made the viewer want to keep watching to see what would happen next. They accomplished this with the right editing with good transitions from scene to scene leaving the scenes feel smooth flowing and not all chopped together. The music was pretty decent. It made the dramatic scenes more dramatic and realistic feeling and made the story feel even more seamless. The actors who were playing a very crucial part in Ghosts of Mississippi, acted very believable. The actor that played Medgar Evers, played a good short role and made the death scene as believable as possible. Also James Wood did a good job getting into character as Byron by playing a very cruel character and did the right reactions, and motions at the right times to make it feel shockingly realistic. Whoopi Goldberg played the role of Medgar Evers wife and her name in the movie was Myrlie Evers. She was really good at making the part belivebal by making the scenes that was supposed to be sad and emotional more believable. The role that was played by Alec Baldwin, being the character Bobby did a fantastic job. He was one of the major people that helped in the case. When he was getting criticized by people for getting involved in this case he made the audience actually feel how he was feeling in his situation. One scene that stood out was when he went back to the original site where Medgar Evers got shot and seen it happen through a flashback in his mind. Ghosts of mississippi is a must see for sure. It tells a very true and heartbreaking story about an innocent man that got taken away from this world early in his life for what he believed in. It wasn't one of them action pact movies and definitely wasn't a comedy, but it had just enough drama to keep the audience on their feet. Its perfect if the viewer wants to learn more about the past of Mississippi, or just learn more about Medgar Evers. On a scale of 1 to 5 it is given a 4 ½ cause it could of needed a little bit more in depth detail about the case as in some parts it almost felt rushed. This film represents the actual historical case as much as it could have with the limited time they had on the movie. Of course they could have talked about the court case for hours just by it self but they had to fill the audience in on more than just that to tell the story. The main point they got acrossed. It was about a black man that got killed by a racist man named Byron De La Beckwith. It showed how racist he was in the movie and that's how Byron was actually in real life. For example when he was talking about how all the different races and religions are to blame except his own for problems in the world. They didn't really specify what Medgar did before he died in the movie but if the viewer was to do some research it will say he was one of the biggest people to fight for equality and that kinda made the people that was against his views angry at him. It also didn't really talk about how when he was growing up he seen African Americans getting treated likegarbage. But the parts of the film with the trial was pretty accurate.
