Very poor plot, unrealistic and badly acted.
The only watchable part of this film was the footage of Hurricane Katerina. The characters were shallow and seemed to suddenly switch from being badly injured one minute and totally fine shortly afterward.
Burt Reynolds contributed surprisingly little, given his experience, though this may have been the fault of the director, alternating between a wise old man giving manly advice to his spoilt grandson and an idiot who needed to cock his shotgun every fifteen seconds, when the family was alone in a house with the storm raging outside. Was he planning to shoot the hurricane perhaps, or just any looter who was wandering around in the middle of the storm of the century?
Give this film a miss.
