powerful and artful

Warning: Spoilers
A poignant and lyrical piece that is truly beautiful. Outstanding direction captures a complex story without short changing any of the myriad of issues that is Northern Ireland. The acting is truthful and powerful. The characters are not clichéd and it is not a story where the Troubles are romanticized. One of the most impressive features is that the director has taken on such a high degree of difficulty and made it work. Politics/religion/war/ tanks/horses/family conflict/burgeoning sexuality/loyalty/anger /fultililiy/hate/ and a love story are combined in a way that never feels cluttered or unfocused. This short is long on quality and is definitely worth seeing. It will leave you - as it did the audience when I viewed it - in a thoughtful silence - wishing that the film wouldn't end.
