Simple, predictable, watchable
HorrorFilmHellion29 September 2023
There was some potential for something better here, but it wasn't awful. A low budget/street clothes affair with one dimensional sound design hold it back, as the muddled story pieces had me scratching my head, wondering when it was going to fit together to say something profound. Unfortunately, it never really does, but the track score and a few interesting scenes kept me in the seat long enough to see it through. OK for a low budget execution, however, it was a somewhat unsatisfying conclusion that leaves a plot hole or three that just didn't amount to much other than playing out the obvious.

Disappointing execution of a great idea
Gigantoscula30 November 2023
The movie gets a 3/10 only because of the premise which I like and the acting of Veronica, that's all it gets. There's many issues with this movie, and I'll cut it some slack as you know the budget wasn't great for this, however, this doesn't mean I'll disregard every problem that it has.

My worst complaint here is the audio mixing, it's terrible! I haven't seen a movie with such bad audio in a lot of time. 90s movies had better audio balancing than this! A character could speak from anywhere from the camera and they would be heard the same, be it next to it or far away, it all sounds the same.

The pacing was also a nightmare. I consider myself a patient person and even I had to skip through minutes of nothing throughout the movie. There's a chance that skipping 15 minutes ahead won't make you miss anything, and this doesn't mean anything good with any movie, even more so when the runtime is on the shorter side for this decade.

Overall, a disappointment with a lot more downs than ups, 3/10, would not recommend.

Been done a million times!!
gunn-wrights18 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I think this is about the 500th time I've seen this horror movie done.... So, an old lady, who is in the throws of dementia, and wheelchair bound, is looking to hire a caregiver (a nice young lady).

She shows up at the house, where everything seems OK, but the man with the 1 car just drops her off, and doesn't really say when he'll be back?? And when he does come back he's upset with how the young lady is treating the old - so he doesn't give her a ride.

As time goes on, the older lady becomes strong, can walk, has her memory intact etc. While the younger lady becomes weaker and forgetful.

In the end, you realize the person who was stuck in the old woman's body was also a younger woman who had come many years before. She is now free to leave, with her replacement officially installed.

RECOMMENDATION; SKIP! Boring, lame, and it's been done hundreds of times!

Unspeakably Bad, In Every Way. Really. No kidding.
kdwhitejd8 July 2023
Unoriginal, predictable, insipid, and worst of all, the acting is abysmal. Wish I could reclaim the time I spent on this garbage fire of a movie. I stuck with it, thinking, "No movie in 2023 could be this awful." Nope - I was wrong. This one is just terrible. PLEASE don't waste your time on this one. At best, it is a well-worn plot that could have been told in a 3-minute short. You find yourself hoping that the protagonist will be swallowed up by an earthbound hell-worm - anything to make the film end. I couldn't possibly spoil anything here, since, by reading the title of the movie, you already know exactly what is going to happen. Going to find my thesaurus to find more synonyms for "horrible" now . . .

I tried
staunton-gary29 October 2023
Warning, do not fast forward any part of this, you might miss something that explains what is going on and you will be forced to rewind it and watch it again.

Veronica Grey (Morgan Boss-Maltais) did play this part well, however, with the pace of the movie a little slow and the runtime too long for this story, I lost interest in the plot and the story itself became a "what" "huh" moment, more than once.

Mrs Bloom (Carla Kidd) play off against Miss Grey well, sometimes and other times her presence was like the "what" "huh" moments I mentioned above.

Joe (Adonis Ringo) brought nothing but "huh" moments to the story, he did this rather well. Perhaps he was only included because his name was Adonis.

I realised that while writing this, I dropped the rating down to 3 "what" says something about the movie. I'm hoping that Morgan Boss-Maltais gets some better roles. Would I recommend this? Nope.

Why did they make a movie that already exists?
M1kk_ael1 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know if you know the original version of this movie (I don't remember what it's called). The base is the same - an old woman (who is not who and who she claims to be) and she needs a young girl who will take care of her (replace her) But the house it is two storeys and has an elevator, no mirrors.(there on attic with a hidden secret room behind wardrobe i think). On front yard/backyard there is greenhouse where later in the film a young girl uses red powder in front of the door to prevent the old lady from entering (the same under the carpet in the old lady's room). And later on in the movie the girl pushed old lady from her wheelchair off the stairs.

(Sorry for my English but its NOT my first language)

I really enjoyed this film.
garysallaz23 March 2024
I was pleasantly surprised with what I got out of this film. Given the budget I never stopped being impressed by how well this movie was done. Any low budget film requires good casting and talented crew members and this one clearly has those elements. This is not a jump scare horror film, if you are looking for that you won't get it. This is a slow burn that the soundtrack does a great job of establishing the mood for throughout. The film is not without flaws but I sincerely believe this it could stand up to 90% of the big budget horror films currently coming out of Hollywood. Any true fan of horror films should thoroughly enjoy this one.

Slow burn, characters!
kenallenpublicity20 July 2023
The thing these days seems to be slow-burning, character-driven plot lines. Certainly have that here as the two main actresses engage throughout. Nice photography, hits all the marks of horror. Predictable in parts but when you're going with a classic structure, that's just going to happen. Those moments came with a nice pay-off. Reality v. Nightmare situations keep you guessing.

This is a psychological thriller with strong female leads. Using a low budget and limited locations, the filmmakers made the most of it all with the photography. The film has a palpable feel that its creators love and respect the genre and the cast was having a great time.

Great movie!
sjzbwpspj24 June 2023
I've heard good things about Aged and the movie did not let me down. It had a very interesting premise and the actors keep you engaged the entire time. I was particularly engaged by the character Charles (Dave McClain). He had a very suspicious way about him and kept you wondering what he is up to. Throughout the movie I kept wanting more and the story kept delivering. The ending was a true twist that I did not see it coming. I look forward to more movies with these actors, they work together very well! Well done! If you have meant reservations with watching this movie, never fear it is worth it and a great movie night film for the family.

Crazy twist
nesmithm-124685 July 2023
I just watched Aged and I really enjoyed this movie. I'm not a horror movie kind of person but this was done right. The actors really threw themselves into their roles although I was a little skeptical in the beginning (too many signs for the main character to not be in that place) but as the movie progressed i was pulled into it. I did not know where it was going and i must say that was a good thing because many times you can predict the ending of a movie midway through but not AGED. This movie had me and I must say I did not expect the ending....totally had me shocked. I would watch this movie again. Great movie.

Lower budget film with great storyline and cast! Really suspenseful
trudyhylant-601901 April 2024
Non spoiler review: First thank you Harrow House. It appears to be a horror movie that has a very tight budget. So I was intrigued from the beginning to the end. If you expect the highest presentation this movie ain't it.

I love human behavior. I love to study people. Why would this girl/woman who appeared to be intelligent go with a complete stranger to a house 3 hours away?

She was not the least prepared to work with a dementia patient. The job paid a lot so why would they hire someone who was unsure of her ability to do the work?

There are many questions that need to be answered to make this cohesive. They have been covered in the comment section. The charming home had a "Weird" Vibe as did the old woman and Charles. The music added to the intrigue and I really wanted to know what they were up to?

I would recommend this movie to those who can look past the lower end of the spectrum films. I appreciate that not all films are Oscar bound I couldn't wait until the ending came so that I could determine what was going on. It was worth the wait, but this movie isn't for everyone. To me it wasn't as much a horror film, but a suspenseful one.

Good movie
anthonybobb-940239 January 2024
A really good movie, if you understand the concept then you understand the movie.

Ive known one of the actors for a long time, though he's not the reason why I'm leaving a good review, I'm leaving a good review cause the movie producer has something that not all producers have for there movies and that's heart, soul, and passion.

I mainly like the back story to this movie and the story that it tells.

For this movie to come out and have the title Aged is really interesting. At the end of the day, it's really good, just grab some pop corn, sit back, and prepare for your heart to start pumping.

A Journey Through Time: "Aged" Triumphs as a Poignant Tale of Life's Seasons
quiqueautrey19 April 2024
"Aged" emerges as a cinematic gem, capturing the essence of life's fleeting moments with grace and a touch of nostalgia. At the heart of this masterpiece is Dave McClain, whose performance is nothing short of spectacular. As the lead character, he navigates the complex emotions of a man reflecting on his past, while still grasping at the threads of the present.

Dave McClain brings a nuanced depth to his role, masterfully portraying a wide range of emotions that span from youthful exuberance to the poignant resignation of old age. His ability to switch seamlessly between these emotional states is compelling and lends an authenticity that is often hard to capture on screen. McClain's eyes, in particular, serve as windows into his character's soul, reflecting wisdom, sorrow, joy, and ultimately, peace.

The narrative structure of "Aged" is elegantly crafted, allowing McClain to showcase his extraordinary acting skills. His interactions with other characters are heartfelt and realistic, building relationships that feel both profound and genuine. The chemistry he shares with his castmates adds layers to a story that is as much about connections as it is about the passage of time.

The film's direction complements McClain's performance beautifully, with every scene meticulously framed to enhance the emotional impact of his portrayal. The cinematography is a visual treat, blending vibrant youth with the subdued tones of older age, mirroring the emotional landscape of McClain's character journey.

In conclusion, "Aged" is a standout film that offers not only a reflective look at life's various stages but also a platform for Dave McClain to deliver one of the most memorable performances of his career. His portrayal is both powerful and delicate, a testament to his skill as an actor. This film is a must-watch for anyone who appreciates the art of cinema and the depth of human emotion.
