This show always delivers. One of their best. Cannot think of anymore to say.

The A and B plot are both funny and connect pretty well. I want to go back through this show and analyze the episodes a bit closer, but I will admit I thought the Dennis going from plot A to plot B, and managing to screw everything up for Dee (and technically Frank since he had the intention of getting on Dee's good side) was pretty funny. He thinks he's a "fixer", but his fixes always manage to make things significantly worse for everyone.
Mac's mom in general never fails to make me laugh. Sandy Martin's delivery as this character is spot on. It's funny to see how much more personable and pleasant she seems in real life interviews, because she nails that done-with-life crass redneck character. She had scenes in prior episodes that were pretty funny, but I think this is the first chance for her character to really shine.
Placing Mrs. Mac in the same house as Mrs. Kelly, and bringing it up on occasion in later episodes, is a pretty brilliant move, as I feel the two characters are great foils. Old Lady House's creation was basically inevitable considering how well the characters play off of each other, even in this episode where a large portion of its focus is placed on the gang. It's been a while since I've seen some of the earlier episodes, and I know Mrs. Kelly has always been a bit overprotective of Charlie, but the OCD "1-2-3" and the "I don't want a dog to eat my face, Charlie" really are defining character moments for her.
Overall, I think this is one of the best always sunny episodes, even though it's one that isn't really referred to all that often in "best episodes" lists for this show.

Very underrated episode indeed on the basis of the it's current rank.
There is some really fine writing in this episode but for some reason this isn't getting the credit it's due, quite possibly because compared to a lot of episodes it's less over the top than we're used to.
In this episode Mac's mom falls asleep with a lit cigarette in her mouth & ends up burning her house down meaning it falls to the gang to find somewhere for her and her ancient scraggy dog to live. This episode's theme has a care for the elderly theme & is actually quite thoughtful. Mac's mom's performance is a brilliant pastiche of a gone to seed elderly ex-smoker & reminded me of a number of similar characters I've known. Meanwhile Charlie's mom's discomfort, the hints of class prejudice & her OCD (we learn in this episode why Charlie is still alive) is almost equally fun.
Seriously, how can you give a low score to an episode where one of the jokes is an old dog with an eye that keeps popping out?
