The situation and psychology of the girls in the first half are well described. When they return to nature for two-way narration, the film slows down. Everyone is faced with different choices on the way to grow up. Girls undoubtedly choose the way closest to themselves.

Having had the chance to see recent superb Horrors from Argentina such as Leni (2020-also reviewed) at film festivals, I was intrigued to find a Western from the country on the WOW Film Festival line-up, this led to me following a pale horse.

Travelling across the landscape with dreams of becoming a Gaucho, co-editor (with Myriam Rachmuth) /writer/ director Mari Alessandrini makes her feature film directing debut by wrapping 13 year old Mora in an exquisite surreal ambient Western atmosphere.
As Mora (played by a terrific, expressive Lara Tortosa in her debut role) finds her own voice in the hazy Western blue sky, Alessandrini & cinematographer Joakim Chardonnens drench the audience in the dazzling abstract backdrop, which Alessandrini sinks into with deep-focus wide and fragmented, obscured close-up on those around the increasingly self-assured Mora.
Riding in the same direction as Mora and her pale horse, the screenplay by Alessandrini brilliantly lassos Mora's delicate coming of age rites of passage drama, along with detailed sketches of Mora's family and the people she is surrounded by growing up, as she faces endless bullying in school, for being the only foreign-born student in the school,and witnessing the hardships of her Vegan parents attempt to run a self-sustaining farm, whilst Mora finds her future, in the blue yonder.
