Interesting independent film.

An independent film, shot largely in Romania, that gives a glimpse into what life must have been like in Eastern Europe before the fall of the Berlin Wall. It was definitely made with limited resources, but that doesn't make it appear poor. Both the direction and acting are good, and I particularly enjoyed the cinematography and editing. At times, it seemed naive, but perhaps that was true of the three friends who embarked on the journey. Being based on a true story, I trust in the sincerity and unawareness of the protagonists. The end credits were interesting, featuring original photos and footage.

This movie is wonderful because it manages to express so many emotions and entertain in a wonderful way. The acting is excellent and the film is generally very powerful especially because it is based on a true story.

Realistic

Absolutely brilliant. As an Eastern European it was very moving for me to watch, and even more so for my parents who couldn't even finish it. It very accurately represents what reality was for their generation for almost 50 years - and in some aspects continues to be even today. The intended comedic aspect was buried under the realism of it all.

High sentimental value-- and that's it
protozaur1 January 2022
I am Romanian, I live in Bucharest, I actively experienced the revolution.

I understand this is not a documentary, but the spin on certain tear-jerking parts of life was too much to watch. Sounded like "superior people" lay the "light of civilsation" upon a backward people. I call it arrogance. The images on end credits show exactly what kind of people were those three guys from Italy.

Also the movie started promisingly but somehow got lost on the way. Maybe funding was over?

Meh, such a good story deserves a better interpretation.

Nice take

Warning: Spoilers
I'm from Romania myself. Even if some parts were a tiny bit exagerated, the overall feelings and emotions were wonderful and very well integrated. They made it seem like western Europe is above east, and they made the main characters and the story a bit arrogant about it, which is exactly what happened at the time, and it made the story even more credible. The environments, the vibe, the feelings, the scenes, they were all in perfect armony to make the movie good. The acting was very powerful, wonderful really. Overall a very good portrait on the communism and the time being!

Dry story, lack of talent, and poor editing and direction
Alice_Robersen19 June 2022
Dry story, lack of talent, and poor editing and direction make this story struggle to be anything but a film worthy of notice. Most of the film seems forced. The talent are hardly actors with any sincerity. Overall, it seems the film was ruined by the auteur, making poor decisions throughout the film.
