FYI predates "The View" with nasty arguments.

Warning: Spoilers
When Jay Thomas's Jerry Gold ends his scandalous talk show, the network hires him to move over to FYI for the conservative viewpoint on the news. Miles decides to experiment by putting Jerry and Murphy together for a point/counterpoint type segment which results in the heat rising in their arguments which ultimately moves to the bedroom: that is Miles' bedroom. A very funny montage to the theme from "A Man and a Woman" shows them falling in love in spite of the fact that they hate each other's political viewpoints, and when they return for a second segment, they are so polite to each other that the other anchors begin to not recognize them. Both Jerry and Murphy become even more dangerous when they are low-key because you never know when they are going to erupt and who will end up being hurt. That's where the humor is, and both Thomas and Bergen are amazingly real. It's obviously a relationship that can't last, but the passion that erupts from their fiery differences is an affair to remember. To see Murphy actually having feelings for a man that she wants to make plans with after two years of attempting to regain herself after quitting drinking shows the depths within her that make her much more than a hard driven career woman, and further hope that she will continue to find balance in her life.
