For starters, the film went way to quickly. They gloss over the fact the staff can talk and other things like that. The "Protagonist" was so horrible to everyone around him. Personally, I was rooting more for the "evil" water dragon and the little girl Lin. The monkey learned nothing from the entire journey and was still as insufferable as the start of the film. The monkey was meant to kill 100 demons to be noticed by the immortal gods in heaven but they just montaged 99 out of 100 of the killings and the last demon was a little girl (not Lin). I don't know if the film was meant to be like it but there was not a single serious part. Any time there was a semi-serious moment, it was immediately interrupted by, the monkey usually, an userious moment.
Overall, I would not recommend this film for anyone with critical thinking skills.
