I appreciated the length of the series. It allowed for in depth character building. I enjoyed the Tarantino-like flashbacks that answer all your questions and demands your attention. I appreciated the small details, such as the "slang" spoken throughout. The series is a dramatization so of course there will be a few over the top scenes. I grew up listening to Chente and thoroughly enjoyed the music and singing. The youth and adolescent singing was not perfect, however it is just that, youth and adolescent singing.
