Review of Umma

Umma (2022)
4/10
She's Here
17 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Soo-Hyan (Sandra Oh) leaves her mother and comes to American and adapts the name Amanda. She has a daughter Chrissy (Fivel Stewart) and doesn't like to be around electricity. They are bee keepers. Amanda's uncle (Tom Yi) shows up with the remains of Amanda's mother Umma (MeeWha Alana Lee). Amanda becomes haunted by her mother as she (the mother) never wanted to be separated.

The film is more of a cultural drama about Korean family lifestyle. The haunting lacked any kind of scare potential. Good characterizations, but the plot leaves a lot to be desired.

Guide: No swearing, sex, or nudity.
