Review of Pororoca

Pororoca (2017)
6/10
Insufficient value

Warning: Spoilers
Pros:
  • nice portrayal of the way in which lack of awareness and attention creates catastrophes (including the scene where Maria disappeared, when there were two overlapping dialogues, possibly making even the viewer distracted);
  • fairly decent intrigue.

Cons:
  • not very realistic (they searched too little and too shallow, they thought too late of things that normally come to mind first, they met with friends after losing a child, the main character postponed too much the investigation of a person stalking children in the park etc.);
  • it completely lacked intelligence manifested from the characters (it was all a vortex of instinctual impulses and low-tier emotion, which eventually caused a very expected outcome;
  • the main character did not become anything, he only decayed in a primitive and expected way; his wife left him, he lost a child and he was overwhelmed with guilt, continuously building up anger and despair. He animated his anger by acting impulsively (which is very mechanical and simple, the most common domino effect) and unintelligently (destroying the possibility of finding Maria through his only lead);
  • unnecessary gore scene at the end.
