Nicely shot but empty feel good movie
7 January 2022
George Clooney directs nicely but this has the same issue as "Suburbicon" - it's an empty movie. The screenplay isn't great and it wastes interesting ideas with pointless plot devices.

I have loved Ben Affleck in a lot lately - he has become such an accomplished actor but this role is essentially the "1990s Ben Affleck" photocopy in 2022. Nothing special.

Lily Rabe. Wasted Christopher Lloyd. Even more wasted

Tye Sheridan as the lead is Ok, but not that special either.

The subplot with him with a black girl in the 1970s? Yeah ... Ok sure lol. We all know that wasn't a common thing back then but hey let's rewrite history. Why bother with the attention to detail if you are going to omit for your own political devices.

Clooney can direct but needs to control the narrative better.
