I'm not a huge fan of the indie horror genre but CALL GIRL OF CTHULHU is something different and quite obviously done by fans with a true love of the genre. The story sees a lonely geek falling for a local prostitute only to discover that she's already betrothed - as a bride of the great Cthulhu! There's a lot going on in this film, which has a well-thought out plot, tons of gore and nudity for those into that stuff, surprisingly sweet performances from the cast and plenty of imaginative special effects which overcome budgetary constraints to offer something new and entertaining. Reminiscent of the early work of Peter Jackson or Troma, but certainly better than the latter.
