The core story and acting is good but the writing took me out of the movie on multiple occasions. There were a decent amount of contrived and wooden dialog moments that felt unnatural and were clearly there just to make a point in the plot.
Also, Nazis in Northern California? A kid learns to ride a bike and defeat a BMX champion in less than a year? Things like that just make it all feel unreal. The real story is far more believable and relatable. Wish they didn't take these shortcuts with the story and stuck closer to real events.
