A huge flaw in the flashback
3 March 2021
Irene Dunne played the same woman in this film's flashback was not a good arrangement. She played the young heroine when she traveled to England, but her face was a face already over 30s, her cheekbones on both sides already enlarged and too wide, it obviously showed that she was an older woman, no matter how the film described, she was already older dame. Young women's cheekbones would not grow large, so the face would be narrower on lower part down from the ears neckline. Older women's jawbones would be thicker and wider. So when Dunne played a younger Susan Ashwood, it's completely unconvincing at all. Movies are not like opera that you could have an overweight old female soprano to sing on the stage, playing a young role. This is why I consider this film a 50% failure.
