Low rent indeed
12 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
KILLER MERMAIDS is a low rent and scuzzily digital horror from Serbia, of all places, shot in sunny Montenegro. The plot is a lightweight piece of fluff about a couple of American tourists who arrive on a remote island only to discover that the legend of a killer mermaid is very much real. There's only one mermaid here and she's a little seen, poor CGI-looking creation; endless attempts at atmosphere building and suspense fall flat, and the horror is non existent. Add in the bad acting and poor production values and you have a real dud of a film, only lifted by the presence of Italian superstar Franco Nero in a supporting role.
