Review of Vaya

Vaya (2016)
9/10
Gritty & superb
27 April 2020
This film is not a commercial "feel good" feature film, it verges at moments in despair & hopelessness, but the intricate weaving of the three stories was masterfully done, and engaging.

The performances were believable, and illustrated the plight of individuals who are placed in dire situations in an unfamiliar environment. The result is an engaging story that compelled me to watch to the end. Truly a testimony to the fact that one watches a movie in order to experience emotions and conflict one would avoid at all costs in life!

The script was clever, and the tying up of the three stories paced well, pleasantly surprising in part, and certainly satisfying. Definitely worth viewing, particularly if one wants a dose of reality in the underbelly of city life from the safety of an arm chair.
