John Farrow's tale of the Nazi occupation of a sleepy Norwegian village in 1940 starts out as a rattling good yarn but falls foul of some contrived plot twists. Ironically, the climactic commando strike is the most boring part of the movie; the always excellent Muni holds it together, though.
