Sharp Objects (2018)
8/10
A TV show not just to watch, but to experience, to live into

Warning: Spoilers
"Sharp Objects" plays like a more accessible, more successful version of "Twin Peaks" (the old version): a murder in a small, deceptively quiet American town is the plot catalyst, but it soon proves secondary in importance to the characters of the people who populate the town. Both shows take a very laid-back approach to the police procedural side, but while in "Twin Peaks" this method often tried my patience, in "Sharp Objects" I drank in the slow pacing and I was sorry there were only 8 episodes! This show is exceptionally well-made, immersive, haunting; the direction mixes reality, fantasy and memory in fluid and inventive ways, and the performances, especially by the three leading ladies, are phenomenal. The final episode is kind of anticlimactic, but the very ending is brilliant and leaves you hungry for more! Highly recommended - TV drama/mystery of a high order. 8/10 on the whole.
