Imitation Queen Christina
7 March 2016
This is a clear attempt to imitate the success of Queen Christina. The problem is that Carroll is no Garbo and Clive Brook is certainly no John Gilbert.Written by Ben Levy and directed by Victor Saville, the only word that can be used to describe this film is dull. The British film industry did make costume pictures like this in the thirties in the mistaken belief that they could beat Holllywood at their own game.Further more they 20 years age gap between the two leads means they had about as much chemistry as a plate of blaming. In any event Carroll lacks warmth and Brooks is as wooden as usual.as. a result there is little believable romance despite Carroll's heaving bosom.
