I fail to understand the disdain...

...on this site for this low-budget Brit entry into the apocalypse genre, be it admittedly derivative, as numerous mavens have noted. It's not really anything to write home about, true, but it's better than many other higher-priced efforts, and not a bad debut directing effort by any stretch. Normally, yes, I'd give it a "5" for its lack of originality, but there was something about the overall quality of the production that led me to slap that extra point on it. The acting, mostly by faces unfamiliar to me, isn't nearly as bad as other curmudgeons here claim, the camera-work is solid, as are the FX and fight choreography, and I didn't feel terribly cheated out of my time as I have with so many other "zombie" films. I'm not saying this one's a keeper, but it's worth a watch, especially on your library's dime, and if you can point out another lo-fi effort in the genre that does as much with as little money, I'm all ears.
