A romantic story like you probably have not seen before between two conflicted individuals: a self-destructive, individualistic man and a depressive woman. They began to orbit each other tentatively. It takes a little while for them to truly connect. It's not smooth sailing along the way. While they appear to be drawn to each other, they often repel each other. The man's behavior is especially psychopathic. There is a need for ownership that conflicts with the desire to be left alone. Given their psychological weaknesses, they need each other but seem unwilling to accept mutual dependence. It's like two magnets that need to be aligned properly.
Many people headed for the exit during the projection. Some probably didn't like the characters; understandably. Other felt that nothing good was going to come out; debatable. I found the whole watchable and never felt the urge to leave. The cringe factor, on account of cutting instruments slicing skin, is minimal.
There is quite a bit of music, vocal and instrumental. In many, the musicians are on the screen. I don't know how much, but some of the music is composed by the director's brother. (No wonder there is so much music.) Only one tune was grating: the one where the singer is shrieking. The rest is quite listenable.
The woman has a pleasant face. Her hairdo, on the other hand, is awful. Two ponytails stick out above her head to form two mickey mouse ears. The disheveled look is likely on purpose.
The man has the best line: suicide should be part of the Human Rights Manifesto. I'll jump to that.
