I'm not sure what previous reviewers saw in this film, my theory is that they are struggling artists and this movie gives hope to any writer or director that their half-baked drivel can also make it into a movie. That's all this movie is...drivel. The only reason I didn't walk out of the theater was a belief that the movie had to get better eventually..right?!
In order to empathize with any actor you usually need to like them. Calvin Wizzig is a very unlikeable character in my eyes simply because of his rudeness. Sure, he is naive and green but that does not excuse this characters crassness, especially for someone who is looking for favors. When he was standing over the shoulder of the writer at the party, he was acting as if he were a five year old boy who wanted his mothers attention and just couldn't wait. Just simply foolish.
Also, the various situations with the different women were just ridiculous. The woman asking him to come marry her? Some guy passed out on a park bench? Please.
This movie either needed to get more serious/realistic or a lot more zany. It's stuck in the middle which is the worst place it could be.
