Wizards of Waverly Place (2007–2012)
6/10
Gentle humour, but timed perfectly

Warning: Spoilers
Although not the greatest thing on TV, I do enjoy this. It's really a kids show but there is definitely something very enjoyable about seeing the very talented Selena Gomez' near perfect delivery of comic timing.

Also, the guy who plays Justin hits one out of the park. He sort of reminds you of a cooler Screech and although he does have to look pretty ridiculous, he in no way matches Screech in dorkiness.

Here's some good news: David DeLuise of the famed DeLuise family actually comes off very cool here. He was sort of wasted for years on 3rd Rock from the Sun where he had to share almost every scene with notorious over-actor, John Lithgow. You can't really forget that you are looking at a DeLuise and not Selena's father but this is definitely a high point in his career.

As for the magic angle, it is pretty cool, even though it has to go wrong somehow. The show is careful not to get too preachy about it, though and Alex always learns her lesson without too much syrupy speeches from the parents.

One minor annoying thing: That little kid in the jogging suit. What a tool!
