I knew nothing about this movie but it kept showing up in my recommendations so I watched with my house mate who enjoys slasher films.
This movie was barbaric for no reason other than shock value. I suppose that's what slashers are for but this one seemed to be particularly sexually horrific towards women and women's bodies. Slicing women down the middle, from the crotch, Slicing off breasts, psychological torture of women, etc.
The men in the movie were also brutalized, but not sexually.
And don't get me started on the sheer stupidity of the characters. These have to be the dumbest people! They barely fought back and made stupid decision after stupid decision. It was hard to feel sorry for them.
I would not recommend this movie, not even to people who like gore.

I could barely take the first fifteen minutes of this movie. The soundtrack is out of place and obnoxious. What was the point of playing Jay-Z 99 problems? At the very beginning of the movie? Is that supposed to set the tone? I find John travolta to be unbelievable as a hardcore gangster who listens to Jay-Z.
The little bit that I watched was so jumpy. Each scene lasted only about two seconds. You barely have time to see what's going on and everyone in the scene.
Bunch of jumpy dialogue to go with it!
There was also a lot of those blurry, slow motion effects, very common and popular in that decade.
Think "The watcher" with Keanu Reeves.
If there was a word for whiplash and motion sickness from a movie, it would describe this movie.
