Even though he is the director/writer/producer, others producers on the project didn't want Santiago Segura to play the lead in the movie, and they gave him a list with suggestions. Segura only liked two names on the list, Javier Cámara and Javier Gutiérrez, but when asked, both turned it down. After that, Segura rightfully exercised his creative power and cast himself as the lead.
Calma Segura and Sirena Segura, who are protagonist Santiago Segura's daughters in real life, have main roles as two of Santiago Segura's daughters.
