J.J. Perry is back in the director's chair with the romantic action comedy The Killer's Game. Perry began his career working on the stunt side of the industry, having worked on everything from the original Mortal Kombat movies in the '90s to the Wesley Snipes-led Blade and Three Kings before working his way up to being a stunt coordinator and second unit director on such hits as Tom Hardy's Warrior to The Fate of the Furious and John Wick: Chapter 2. Perry recently took a major step forward with his directorial debut in the Jamie Foxx-led Day Shift, which garnered mixed-to-positive reviews.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Killer's Game's ending.
The Killer's Game director J. J. Perry comments on the possibility of The Killer's Game 2 happening. Based on the 1997 novel of the same name by Jay Bonansinga, the action-comedy follows Dave Bautista's hitman, Joe Flood, as he takes out a hit on himself after a terminal diagnosis, soon finding himself fending off his former assassin colleagues when they also target his ex-girlfriend, Maize (Sofia Boutella). The Killer's Game's ending leaves the door open for more story, with both Joe and a pregnant Maize alive, but there's been no official confirmation of a sequel just yet.
In a recent interview with Inverse, Perry is asked about the potential expansion of The Killer's Game's universe, and he expresses enthusiasm regarding a sequel. The director shares that he already has plenty of ideas regarding what colorful characters could appear. Read his...

Former stuntman and genre expert Jesse V. Johnson (The Package, The Fifth Commandment) has been churning out low-budget actioners featuring a string of recognizable B-list names over more than a decade for a mostly niche audience. Savage Dog may marginally raise his profile with a slightly more ambitious premise, but it still seems destined to find the broadest audiences in home-entertainment formats.
Johnson, who also wrote the script, selects an intriguing setting for the film: the Vietnamese region of Indochina following the retreat of French forces in the mid-1950s. The power vacuum that resulted from the collapse of colonial rule...

You've gotta watch this trailer for the upcoming action thriller Savage Dog, which features Scott Adkins (Doctor Strange, The Expendables II) kicking ass as he embarks on a mission for revenge.
The movie looks like it came straight out of the early 1990s, which is why I'm kind of looking forward to watching it. I've seen a few trailers for upcoming action films recently that reminded me of movies from the 90s. Are 90s-style action movies making a comeback!? Yeah, it looks like a very low-budget flick, but sometimes it's just fun to sit back, relax, and watch a fun movie like this. Here's the synopsis:
Indochina, 1959. A Wild West town controlled by the criminal class: Vietnamese warlords and European war criminals. The worst prison in the land, it is here that a European, former-champion boxer Martin Tilman (Scott Adkins) has made a name for himself fighting tournaments. When Tilman is due for release,...

Keanu Reeves has, in recent years, seemingly been making headway in to the action genre with films like 47 Ronin and Man of Tai Chi.Gone are the days of Keanu the funny mam, Keanu the heartthrob leading man love-interest and in has come a stone-faced bearded bad-ass. Yet, whilst both the aformentioned films have there fans – me included – neither really set the genre alight. Hailed as something of a bullet-flinging comeback for Keanu Reeves upon its arrival in the States, vengeful hit man thriller John Wick is finally set to make an appearance over here in April. To help remind us of its existence, a new trailer has emerged online.Reeves is the titular hard nut, who has given up bullet slinging for a quiet life after his wife dies. But, because he’s a cinematic assassin, his life can never quite be that easy or calm. On a random errand, he runs afoul of some gangsters who take a shine to his car. Rebuffed, they track him down and take everything, even killing his beloved dog. Enraged, Wick picks up the tools of his trade once more and soon no-one is safe...With stunts and martial arts expert Chad Stahelski directing and The Package’s Derek Kolstad providing the script, this one promises...

"I once saw him kill three men with a pencil." After our own Alex Billington and Jeremy Kirk both loved John Wick so much that we have not just one, but two glowing reviews of the film starring Keanu Reeves, we have another tease of the action thriller coming next month. A new one-minute trailer has popped up online, and while it's pretty much a condensed version of the first trailer we saw, this one has some new bits of footage showing a bit more of Reeves taking on Adrianne Palicki and shooting this shit with Willem Dafoe. Plus, there's that fun line making John Wick seem like the new Bill Brasky. Watch! Here's the quick new trailer for David Leitch & Chad Stahelski's John Wick from YouTube: John Wick is directed by David Leitch & Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad (The Package, One in the Chamber). Is Keanu Reeves back? It appears so. After several years of cinematic duds, including the likes of Constantine, The Day The Earth Stood Still and 47 Ronin, Reeves. new film, John Wick, premiered at the Fantastic Festival to rave reviews over the weekend - and the Speed star has especially come in for high praise for his performance. It also helps that there are rumored to be at least 84 kills in the film, most of which are head shots. Still need to be convinced? You should check out the trailer below then: You see what happens when you mess with Keanu.s dog? Directed by first-time feature filmmaker Chad Stahelksi (who has forged an impressive career as a stunt-man), and written by The Package.s Derek Kolstad, John Wick looks to mix the visual style of Drive with the simple plotting of Taken to create a bona-fide B-movie homage. "It's not what you did son. It's who you did it to." Keanu Reeves is back in badass mode in the first trailer for John Wick, the action thriller debuting at Fantastic Fest this month. "Game of Thrones" star Alfie Allen steps over his bounds as the son of a crime boss by stealing the title character's car and dog, the latter left to him by his dead girlfriend, and now Mr. Wick wants his stuff back. But he also seems hellbent on teaching them a lesson too. This looks pretty slick and fun as hell, and there's plenty of room for supporting stars like John Leguizamo and Adrianne Palicki to be badasses alongside Reeves too. Watch below! A few things that I have learned from action movies in recent years: don’t take Liam Neeson’s daughter, don’t pick on Jason Statham’s kids, and, apparently, don’t kill Keanu Reeves’ dog. That last discovery comes to us courtesy of the trailer for John Wick, an action movie coming out at the end of October that has received next to no publicity until right now.
John Wick stars Reeves as the titular character, a retired hitman who is pursued by an old friend contracted by a crime boss to kill him. This apparently involves killing off Wick’s dog, the last gift his wife gave to him. Predictably, Wick is not pleased about the loss of the puppy (it’s a cute dog) and sets out to take everyone down with as many guns and one-liners as possible.
Watching the trailer for this film is perplexing.

We've already gotten one look at Keanu Reeves in the forthcoming action thriller John Wick, and this Friday the first trailer will debut. In the meantime, we have the first teaser poster that takes the titular character, an ex-hitman on an adrenaline-fueled path to revenge, and his namesake very literally. There's actually a wick leading to the head of Keanu Reeves, implying that he might explode. From another perspective, he also looks like some kind of firework balloon. We're not sure what to expect from this flick, but it will debut at Fantastic Fest later this month, so stay tuned to see if we like it or not. Look below now! It's been awhile since Keanu Reeves has really done anything worth paying attention to, but maybe a new shot of him getting back into action, and not in some weird medieval fantasy world, will help him get his groove back. John Wick is a new action thriller coming this fall, and while the title doesn't sound like anything special, the first look image of Reeves in the film is pretty bad ass, showing the star of The Matrix franchise armed and dangerous, complete with some longer hair and a beard. The film sees Reeves as the titular character, an ex-hitman who is out for vengeance. Sounds generic, but we're still hoping for the best. Here's the first look at David Leitch & Chad Stahelski's John Wick, originally from Yahoo: John Wick is directed by David Leitch & Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad (The Package, One in the Chamber). It’s Monday, so we all know what that means! Yes, it’s time for another rundown of DVDs and Blu-ray’s hitting stores online and offline this week. It’s a very light week this week, so let us breakdown the new releases and highlight what you should – and shouldn’t – be buying from today, March 4th 2013.
Pick Of The Week
Sleep Tight (DVD/Blu-ray)
Spanish psychological horror from director Jaume Balagueró. The film follows César (Luis Tosar), the concierge to the residents at a wealthy apartment building. César seems extraordinarily helpful and polite and is consequently adored by the residents, but little do they know that he is in fact a man so incapable of happiness and human feeling that he makes it his goal in life to make others as miserable as he is. He focuses much of his attention on Clara (Martra Etura), a beautiful young...

It can't have been easy for Warner Bros. and their subsidiary DC Entertainment to sit and watch Marvel release The Avengers to huge box office success last year while Christopher Nolan was simultaneously closing the doors on his massively successful Batman trilogy with The Dark Knight Rises. While The Avengers is clearly open to have more sequels, Nolan never tried to expand his movies' scope to DC's other characters. In response to the success of The Avengers, Warners did hire Gangster Squad screenwriter Will Beall to script a Justice League movie, which would potentially team Batman with other legendary DC characters such as Superman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman, however, the movie is already rumored to be slated for a complete overhaul, with the safe money betting that the studio will wait and see if Superman's next outing, Man of Steel, will provide the box office boost necessary to move...

Dolph Lundgren once played Frank Castle in a god-awful The Punisher movie, so clearly, he an expert on all things Marvel. Which sort of explains why the once-mighty action star took a few swipes at Joss Whedon.s The Avengers for its deceptive use of on-screen violence. While talking with the L.A. Times on behalf of The Package (now out on DVD), Lundgren guaranteed himself a few headlines by going after the highest-grossing movie of 2012, claiming that its PG-13 approach to guns and violence does more harm to an audience than good: There will always be an exploration of new technology in things like The Avengers -- that was a great movie, by the way -- but I think certainly for part of the audience, if you fire a thousand bullets and there.s not a drop of blood, there.s something wrong with that. Stone Cold Steve Austin and Dolph Lundgren; it’s a pairing either genius or awful, but one thing’s for sure, it’s a step-up from Austin’s last double act with a former action star, Maximum Conviction, which saw him team with a bloated, over-the-hill Steven Seagal to demeaning ends.
In The Package, Austin plays Tommy Wick, a no-nonsense “fixer” who performs the dirty work of a local crime boss. His latest job involves delivering a package to a man known only as “The German” (Lundgren) in order to clear a steep debt that his brother, Eddie (Lochlyn Munro), owes. Of course, nothing goes as expected, and amid a pile of bodies, Wick and The German find themselves heading on a collision course towards one another.
Though better-assembled than much of its straight-to-video brethren, The Package delivers all of the dull, unimaginative action you should...

Fans of Wonder Woman have no doubt seen the most recent fan-made short/trailer, depicting the Amazonian princess taking on Nazis during World War II. Filmed as a showcase for the directorial skills of stuntmant-turned-director Jesse V. Johnson (The Package) – and Not a Ww movie – the trailer features Nina Bergman (The Wayshower) as the titular superheroine.
While viewers have been largely polarized over the short, we’re more interested in the questions this live-action take on Wonder Woman raises. And perhaps more importantly, which ones it answers.
As far as fan-made films go, the production value and actors are easy to appreciate, and far better than these kinds of projects generally sport. We don’t know exactly why the WWII setting was chosen, but Timothy V. Murphy (Sons of Anarchy, The Lone Ranger) plays a Nazi officer exceedingly well, and Peter Stormare again ...

If you spend any time at all in direct-to-dvd action movie land, then you probably know the name Jesse V. Johnson. He’s a Hollywood stuntman who has worked in a ton of big studio films, but he’s only ever directed direct-to-dvd action movies like 2005′s “Pit Fighter” and the upcoming “The Package” with Dolph Lundgren and Steve Austin. Like most directors, Jesse V. Johnson dreams of doing something bigger. Say, directing a Wonder Woman movie for Warner Bros., for instance. So taking a page from “Mortal Kombat: Legacy” director Kevin Tancharoen’s playbook, Johnson has assembled a crew and put together a 2-minute Wonder Woman pitch that stars Nina Bergman as the Amazonian warrior and includes appearances by everyone’s favorite twitchy actor, Peter Stormare (“The Last Stand”). The Package is the generic title this generic new action movie deserves, a film solely aimed to deliver a parcel of brainless thrills. Steve Austin stars as club bouncer/combat vet Tommy Wick, who moonlights as an enforcer for a Seattle mob boss. Dloph Lundgren is `The German,’ an international crime lord and hardcore killing machine. When Wick is asked to transport a mysterious package to The German, he suddenly finds himself hunted by relentless teams of hit men, mercenaries, assassins and sadists. Regardless of its pedestrian and moronic execution, and despite that it contains nothing that you haven’t seen done hundreds of times before in any number of better, more exciting action films, The Package manages to be a fun testosterone-soaked rollercoaster. It has a level of absurdity and blatant disregard for believability that actually works in its favor. As directed by Jesse V. Johnson, The Package has...

“The Expendables” co-stars Dolph Lundgren and Steve Austin re-team for “The Package”, a slam-bang actioner from Jesse Johnson, who directed a little-known but I think underrated action flick called “Pit Fighter” from 2005. Here’s an Exclusive clip from “The Package”, featuring Dolph Lundgren doing what Dolph Lundgren does best — look mean and plotting your death. Dthe Package features Austin as Tommy Wick, a nightclub bouncer and enforcer for Seattle crime boss Big Doug (Eric Keenleyside, Dreamcatcher, Firewall). When Big Doug instructs Tommy to hand-deliver a secret package to the mysterious international crime lord “The German,” (Lundgren), he does so with the hopes that Big Doug will forgive the debt Tommy’s brother Eddie (Lochlyn Munroe, White Chicks, Freddy vs. Jason) owes. Word of the clandestine delivery spreads and soon “the package” – and those who carry it – becomes the target of rival gang leader Anthony (Michael Daingerfield, The Messengers). Anthony will...

Johnson and written by Derek Kolstad. The film tells the story of a crime boss who needs a package delivered: “‘The Package’ features Austin as Tommy Wick, a nightclub bouncer and enforcer for Seattle crime boss Big Doug (Eric Keenleyside, ‘Dreamcatcher,’ ‘Firewall’). Including a silk robe wearing Dolph Lundgren, who despite what the poster above would lead you to belive, spends much of the movie trying to kill our domed hero played by Steve Austin. Or at least, that’s what I gathered from this trailer for “The Package”, which stars Austin as a fella with a dangerous particular set of skills that involves bashing dude’s chests in with one blow and the like. The film looks like good, harmless fun, one of those movies you can watch in one sitting and then never have to think about ever again. Everyone needs one of those once in a while, right? The Package features Austin as Tommy Wick, a nightclub bouncer and enforcer for Seattle crime boss Big Doug (Eric Keenleyside, Dreamcatcher, Firewall). Here’s your first look at the trailer for Ernie Barbarash’s “Assassination Games”, formerly “Weapon” (a better title, in my opinion), starring Scott Adkins and Jean-Claude Van Damme. Not sure why the sound is all “echo-y”, but eh, movie looks cool. Definitely B-grade material, but then again, you probably expected that. Not sure how much of a theatrical release it’s going to get, if any in the States, but they’re promising a July release date. Via IGN. Rival assassins — each of whom are masters of their respective weapons — form an uneasy alliance in their mission to take down a DEA-backed drug cartel. Starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Scott Adkins and Kevin Chapman and directed by Ernie Barbarash, who will be re-teaming with Van Damme again in “Six Bullets” soon, before moving on to “The Package” with Dolph Lundgren and Steve “Stone Cold” Austin. Dude’s definitely cornering the market on B-movie action stars.

Man, Austin loves beating up on 80s action stars, huh? First, he smacks around Stallone in The Expendables. Soon he’ll whup up on Dolph Lundgren in The Package (here). And now, he’s going one-on-one with Machete himself, Danny Trejo in Recoil.
The film is being directed by Terry Miles and written by the Dtv Prophecy sequels scribe, John Sullivan. The plot to this potential bad-ass showdown: “After the murder of his family, former cop John Varrett goes vigilante in order to find the criminals that have slipped through the system and exercise his own brand of ruthless justice.” Guess who plays who.
The film will look for buyers soon at the Cannes Film Market.
