Ya se ha publicado el primer tráiler de “Escape”, la nueva película de Rodrigo Cortés, producida por Martin Scorsese y basada en la novela homónima de Enrique Rubio.

Amazon hosted its annual Prime Video Presents event in Madrid this afternoon, where the streaming giant made a raft of announcements, including new theatrical features, true crime docuseries, returning drama programs and the next season of Spain’s uber-popular singing competition “Operación Triunfo.”

Ricardo Carbonero, director of Prime Video in Spain and Portugal, and Maria José Rodríguez, head of Amazon Studios’ Spanish Originals, were in attendance. Joining them were local stars Mario Casas (“Tres metros sobre el cielo”), Elena Anaya (“The Skin I Live In”), Malena Alterio (“Aquí no hay quien viva”), Najwa Nimri (“Money Heist”), Anna Castillo (“Nowhere”) and Maxi Iglesias (“Los artistas: primeros trazos”). Also in attendence were several of the streamer’s current filmakers, including Dani de la Torre (“La sombra de la ley”), Paula Ortiz (“La novia”), Hugo Stuven (“El desafio”) and Ginesta Guindal (“Élite”).

Comienza en La Rioja alavesa el rodaje de “El Secreto del Orfebre”, adaptación de la novela homónima de Elia Barceló, que supone el regreso de Mario Casas al género romántico casi una década después de “Palmeras en la Nieve”.

“El Secreto del Orfebre” sigue a Juan Pablo, un prestigioso orfebre que viaja desde España a Nueva York para una exposición sobre su obra. De camino pasará por su pueblo natal, un viaje que le llevará al pasado y al reencuentro con un gran amor que cambió su vida para siempre.

La película está protagonizada por Mario Casas (“3 Metros Sobre el Cielo”) y Michelle Jenner (“La Casa de Papel: Berlín”). Los acompañan en el reparto Zoe Bonafonte (“Amar es para Siempre”) y Enzo Oliver (“Valeria”). Por otro lado, la dirección corre a cargo de Olga Osorio (“¡Salta!”), que también firma el guion.

Comienza en Murcia el rodaje de “Sorda”, la película escrita y dirigida por Eva Libertad y basada en el cortometraje homónimo nominado a los Premios Goya en 2023, también dirigido por Libertad. “Sorda” es una historia de amor materno-filial y de pareja, exacerbado por el choque entre el mundo de los sordos y el de los oyentes.

“Sorda” sigue a Ángela (Garlo), una mujer sorda, que va a tener un bebé con Héctor (Cervantes), su pareja oyente. El embarazo hace aflorar sus miedos frente la maternidad y sobre cómo podrá comunicarse con su hija. La llegada de la niña genera una crisis en la pareja y lleva a Ángela a enfrentarse a la crianza de su hija en un mundo que no está hecho para ella.

Brand new sales agency Neo Art International has picked up worldwide sales rights outside Italy to Claudio Amendola’s black comedy film trilogy “Cassamortari” (“Funeral Family”).

The film trilogy narrates the story of The Pasti Family, a Roman family who work in the funeral business.

The three titles of the saga are set up at Rome-based company Paco Cinematografica, and co-produced with Antonia Nava’s Neo Art Producciones in Barcelona.

“I Cassamortari,” the first title of the saga, was streamed in 2022 in Italy by Amazon Prime Video, described as an Amazon Exclusive production.

Written by Mary Estella Brugiati and Alessandro Bosi, “Ari-Cassamortari” (“Funeral Family 2”), the second delivery, is currently in post.

This time the film tells how the Pasti Brothers have created a name for themselves as VIP gravediggers, along with an eccentric half-sister they had no idea they had.

Netflix Spain’s popular YA series “Elite” season four will premiere on June 18 worldwide. Among the service’s most popular programs in any language, “Elite” stands among the few series, international or American, to surpass the three-season mark at the platform.

The U.S streaming giant first announced season four just about two months after season three launched on the streamer and was seen by more 20 million households. The cast, including Miguel Bernardeau and Claudia Salas, announced the pickup via a video from their homes in quarantine. In late February of this year, Season Five was commissioned by Netflix, and two new key castings announced in Valentina Zenere and André Lamoglia.

The two newcomers will join the now superstar cast including series regulars Miguel Bernardeau, Claudia Salas, Georgina Amoros, Itzan Escamilla and Omar Ayuso, who joined the show in season three.

“Elite” will be coming back for another season of drama in a fancy Spanish high school.

Netflix has picked up the series for season 4 around two months after season 3 launched on the streamer. The cast, including Miguel Bernardeau and Claudia Salas, announced the pickup via a video from their homes in quarantine. Precisely when season 4 will be available is yet to be announced, especially given the current uncertainty of the coronavirus production shutdown.

“I wanted to tell you that we have got the scripts of season 4 and they look so good,” says Bernardeau in the video.

“You better be prepared, because it’s intense,” adds fellow cast member Aron Piper.

Teen mystery series “Elite” has been renewed for a second season by Netflix, the streaming giant announced Wednesday in Spain.

Netflix’s second Spanish original drama, “Elite” was released worldwide on Oct. 5, gathering positive reviews from TV critics in Spain and abroad.

Offering eight episodes entirely shot in 4K, Season 2 is scheduled to launch in 2019.

The series is set at Las Encinas, the most exclusive high school in Spain, whose students belong to swankily wealthy families, apart from three working class kids who have just been admitted after their tin pot school collapses. The class and culture gulf sparks an escalating series of confrontations, culminating in murder.

Alex Pina, the creator of Netflix’s Spanish crime drama Money Heist (La Casa De Papel), has signed an exclusive overall deal to produce new series and projects for the streaming giant.

Upcoming projects that are part of the deal include series three of Money Heist - apparently the most watched non-English show on Netflix - and Sky Rojo, a female-action drama set to start production in 2019.

Spanish filmmaker Fernando González Molina ("Three Steps Above Heaven") is set to helm the $13.5 million period drama "Palm Trees in the Snow" for Antena 3.

Sergio G. Sánchez ("The Impossible," "The Orphanage") penned the script based on the best-selling novel by Luz Gabas. Mario Casas leads the cast.

The story is set on an island off the west coast of Africa. A Spanish colony until 1968, the narrative swaps between the 1950s in the latter years of the Spanish rule, and the present day.

The 1950s scenes follow a man and his brother as they travel from the snowy Pyrenees to the exotic island where they learn true lessons in life. The present day elements focus on the man's daughter who travels to the island to learn about her father and uncle's younger years.

Mercedes Gamero will produce. Filming begins next June around Costa Rica and the Canary Islands ahead of a Christmas 2014 release.

Fernando González Molina, the director of Three Steps Above Heaven and I Want To, is to next make a $13.5m love story set in 1950s Africa.

The Spanish film-maker unveiled details about Palm Trees in the Snow (Palmeras en la nieve) at the San Sebastian Film Festival.

It has been scripted by Sergio G. Sánchez, who penned blockbuster tsunami film The Impossible and ghost story The Orphanage. The script is based on the eponymous bestseller by Luz Gabas.

The cast will be led by Mario Casas, who starred in Molina’s previous two films as well as Álex de la Iglesia’s Toronto title Witching and Bitching, which is released in Spain this weekend.

The Spanish Institute for Film and Audiovisual Arts (Icaa) a part of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, together with the American Cinematheque and Egeda (Audio-Visual Producers’ Rights Management Association) announce the 18th edition of Recent Spanish Cinema series that will showcase the most outstanding recent Spanish films at the American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles, October 11 – 14, 2012.
