Cinema fans have been familiar with Michael Berryman for decades. He made his first screen appearance in the 1975 film Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze, following that up with a role in the Best Picture winner One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Next up was his most iconic role, that of the desert-dwelling cannibal Pluto in Wes Craven’s 1977 film The Hills Have Eyes, a role he reprised in the messy 1984 sequel The Hills Have Eyes Part II. He has gone on to rack up over one hundred more credits, including roles in films like Deadly Blessing, Invitation to Hell, Cut and Run, Weird Science, My Science Project, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, The Guyver, Beastmaster 2, Wizards of the Demon Sword, Teenage Exorcist, The Devil’s Rejects, Ed Gein: The Butcher of Plainfield, The Haunted Casino, The Lords of Salem, and Death House.

After years in development as a feature, "Doc Savage", the pulp magazine superstar from the 1930's, is being reconfigured for a live-action TV series, from Sony Pictures Television, Neal H. Moritz' Original Film ("The Boys") and Condé Nast Entertainment, who acquired the "Doc Savage" Street & Smith Library in 1959:
"...the scripted series will chronicle the adventures of 'Clark Savage Jr.', featuring rampaging dinosaurs...
"...secret societies led by dastardly villains, fantastic gadgets and weapons, death-dealing traps...
"...hair-raising escapes and plots to rule the earth..."
'Doc Savage' debuted in pulp magazines during the 1930's created by publisher Henry W. Ralston and editor John L. Nanovic for Street and Smith Publications, with additional material contributed by series' author, Kenneth Robeson, aka 'Lester Dent'.
"Doc Savage" has since spun-off into radio, film, comic books and a series of 1960's Bantam paperback novels reprinting the original stories.

There's a lot that separates Dwayne Johnson from most other superstars. Sure, he's a giant man who has muscles that most of us don't even know exist. Sure, he balances humor and action with perfect ease. Sure, he can sing on top of everything else. But another unique aspect of Johnson is how open he is about his career and possible future projects. Most celebs clam up about deals in the works, but Johnson has a very open relationship with his audience on social media and will often express his desires to make things that aren't actually happening yet. There's been Black Adam for DC Comics, Doc Savage for director Shane Black, and Jungle Cruise for Disney. Those first two still haven't become official projects yet, but now, nearly two years after first...

For some time now, fans have been looking forward to the reboot to the Predator franchise. Ever since the first one hit decades ago, there have been a couple more swings at the character, and both have had underwhelming reception. Predator 2 took things to a silly level, and while 2010’s Predators was all sorts of awesome, it didn’t really do enough business at the box office to warrant a follow-up. Filmmaker Shane Black seemed like a good fit for the franchise. Not only does he have experience with action, but his dark humor fits like a glove, and if that wasn’t enough, he was in the first film.
Shane Black has been talking about this project for years now, though no matter how much he talked about it, he never promised audiences that Arnold Schwarzenegger would be in it. The closest he came to saying that was back last May,...

Lionsgate has hired Zombieland director Ruben Fleisher to helm their new film Jekyll, which will star Chris Evans. The movie is an adaptation of Steven Moffat's 2007 BBC One miniseries, which continued the events of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Evans will take on the role of Tom Jackman, "a modern-day descendant of Jekyll who is beginning to exhibit the trademark split personality. The father and husband abandons his family, without explaining why, and lives in a fortified basement with a psychiatric nurse as his ally. When they strap the doctor to a metal chair, she watches him transform into an alter ego who rages, shows heightened strength and speed and can be a charming, flirtatious scoundrel as well. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is a one-man promoting machine and he's just used his Instagram once again to reveal info on the Jumanji sequel. It's our first look at his character's name and costume. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's Karen Gillan boarded the project earlier this week which also features Johnson, Kevin Hart, Nick Jonas, and Jack Black. We still have no details as to the plot and while I assumed the other day there would be two kids involved just like the original film, now I'm not so sure. Regardless, we now know Johnson is playing Dr. Bravestone and he'll look something like this. Exclusive First Look: Concept art of my #Jumanji character. "The Smoldering" Dr. Bravestone. Who says hard work doesn't pay off?
For the past year or two, it seems like every other article covers some endeavor of Dwayne Johnson or another. More than any other actor, this guy seems adamant about elbowing his way into just about any and every franchise under the sun.
Fast & Furious, San Andreas, Shazam!, Jumanji, Journey, Baywatch, Doc Savage, Rampage --and those are but a few franchises he's a part of, or will be a part of very soon. It's like the only movie that guy isn't in is Jem and the Holograms (no, wait, he was in that, too). If you follow him on Instagram, it's very evident that he's a hard-working dude, and 2016 seems to be a year that heavily reflects that fact.
According to Forbes, Johnson has secured a $64.5 million payday, which not only doubles his earnings from 2015, but it locks him down as the highest...

Chris Evans plays pretty much the most morally upright superhero there is as Steve Rogers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the Captain America: Civil War star may very well be about to take a villainous turn. The actor looks set to take on the lead role of Tom Jackman in Jekyll, an upcoming movie from Lionsgate.
The writing team of Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry (who worked with Shane Black on The Nice Guys and his upcoming Doc Savage adaptation) penned the screenplay, and Jekyll is actually based on the 2007 BBC One series which was the creation of Steven Moffat (Doctor Who).
Set in the present day, it revolved around Jackman – played on TV by The Hobbit star James Nesbitt – a descendant of Jekyll who begins to exhibit signs of a split personality. He then abandons his family, creates a new home in a fortified basement and finds an ally in a psychiatric nurse.

According to the magazine, Johnson made $64.5 million this year - the highest paid actor on the list at number 19 overall with the lion's share of his money from movies and TV.

In the past several months, Dwayne The Rock Johnson has signed on to what seems like dozens of projects. Currently, the actor is on board for San Andreas 2, Jumanji, Doc Savage, Furious 8, Shazam, Baywatch, and Rampage. Of course, these are by no means the only projects he's involved with. Given how in demand the action star is, he likely has plenty of projects on the table. One such project is rumored by Deadline to be Wolf Man.

Director Shane Black's latest film, The Nice Guys, may have just hit theaters, but he already has two other big franchises on his plate: Doc Savage, and The Predator. The latter film is obviously a part of the same franchise that spawned two sequels and two Alien Vs. Predator films, but none were as well received as the first one.
With The Predator, Black hopes to bring some credibility back to the dormant franchise. The director has given us little tidbits here and there for months. He's teased Arnold Schwarzenegger's involvement and the overall setting, but has been pretty coy on specifics.
In a recent Q&A podcast interview with Empire, the director gave another bit of insight into the film, all while taking a little stab at the current generation of fans as well as sites like us:

This week brought the news that Dwayne ‘Don’t Call Him The Rock’ Johnson has been cast as the lead in a new Doc Savage movie to be directed by Iron Man 3’s Shane Black.
Though he has fallen into obscurity over the past few decades, Doc Savage is basically the original superhero and had a huge influence on the likes of Superman and Batman. A popular character from pulp fiction magazines of the 30s and 40s, Dr. Clark Savage – also known as the Man of Bronze – possessed superhuman physical and mental capabilities and was often referred to as a “superman.”
Let’s hope the Doc Savage movie is a good one, as it could reawaken an interest in pulpier superhero films. In many ways, it does make sense for the superhero movie genre to keep itself fresh by diving right back to the beginnings of superhero fiction, and so,...

When adapting a character as iconic as Lester Dent's Doc Savage, the temptation is always present to update said hero for a more modern age. But, like any true fan worth their salt, co-writer/director Shane Black knows that Clark Savage Jr. isn't one of those characters you bring into a more modern context. The reason is simply because he was one of the first of his kind, and truly a product of his time. Black addressed the matter during a recent interview with IGN, as The Nice Guys director and co-writer drew his big and bold line in the sand for his involvement with the Dwayne Johnson franchise started. Shane Black's explanation dictates the following terms: It has to be. I’m not going to do it otherwise. And if it doesn’t happen for that reason it doesn’t happen. People say & ...

Sony Pictures Entertainment continues developing writer/director Shane Black's take on pulp magazine hero "Doc Savage" for producer Neil Moritz and Columbia Pictures, with a well-known genre actor now cast as 'Savage':
Dwayne Johnson, one of the biggest men in film @ 6' 5" and 260 lbs., will play the copper-toned pulp magazine hero.
"...'Doc Savage' is proceeding on pace," said Black. "...as 'Iron Man' wound down I sort of reconnected with Sony who have been gracious to say, 'We’ll wait a year and sit on these rights until you’re finished with this other picture that we don’t control.' So they were really cool about it, they were really nice. So yeah I’m back on it."

We’ve known for awhile that Dwayne Johnson is working with Shane Black on Doc Savage, but the actor has made an official announcement on his Instagram account that he will star in the film that he’s also producing.
Black said a couple of months ago that he wanted Johnson to star in the film, and the filmmaker obviously got his wish. Savage was a 1930s pulp hero popularized on radio, film, and TV. Savage’s real name is Clark Savage, Jr., and he’s a physician, surgeon, scientist, adventurer, inventor, explorer, researcher, and a musician. He's basically every amazing adventure hero such as James Bond, Indiana Jones, and Batman rolled into one. This is an awesome character that has embarked several incredible adventures, and it’s going to be so cool to see him brought to life on the big screen. This could be such an awesome franchise,...

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is practically a superhero himself. And now he’s going to play one onscreen.
Johnson posted on Instagram that he was taking on the role of the iconic Doc Savage, calling him “the world’s first superhero.” The film, to be written and directed by Shane Black, who’s enjoying a critical renaissance with the release of his summer comedy The Nice Guys, will be based on the 1930s and ’40s pulp fiction adventurer who predates Superman (and was actually an inspiration for the Man of Steel).
The Wrap says of the intrepid hero, “The MacGyver of his time, Savage was a physician, surgeon, scientist, adventurer, inventor, explorer, researcher and musician, known for his superhuman abilities in smarts and strength. The virtual Swiss Army knife of comic-book heroes, Savage has a photographic memory, is a master of disguise, and can imitate voices — along with having masterful martial arts skills.

Dwayne Johnson is the most wanted man in Hollywood. It seems like he's announced to be leading the cast of a new film every other day and guess what? Today is one of those days. The Rock is officially going to tackle another character from the comic book pages for director Shane Black. The Nice Guys didn’t perform as well as we felt it deserved, yet Shane Black is something of a hot commodity again. While his Predator sequel / reboot / whatever prepares for a release in February of 2018, the writer-director apparently spent this Memorial Day weekend with, fittingly, our greatest living American, Dwayne Johnson, to move forward with their long-rumored collaboration: Doc Savage, a ’30s- and ’40s-era superhero who pre-dates and, speaking for ability, in many ways matches Superman.
Taking to Instagram, the star confirmed his involvement in the project scripted by Black, Nice Guys co-writer Anthony Bagarozzi, and Chuck Mondry. Sony is supporting the project, about which little else is known — though one imagines it’s to come after The Predator, i.e. remains a few years off. Waiting aside, the point stands: it’s plenty nice to have more Black, and it’s no less odd to be actively excited about a superhero picture.

It is quite possible that Dwayne Johnson just became the hardest working actor in Hollywood. Having dropped some fairly specific hints in recent weeks, the star has now officially confirmed that he will headline a Doc Savage movie for filmmaker Shane Black and Sony Pictures, and Johnson could not be more excited for the project to begin.
While the actor is about to hit theatres with Kevin Hart in the upcoming comedy Central Intelligence, he also has Baywatch, Fast 8, a sequel to San Andreas and a reboot of Jumanji on his slate – not to mention the ongoing speculation about a possible role in the long-rumoured Shazam! film for DC and Warner Bros. It is Shane Black that has drawn a new commitment from the actor, though, as he prepares to turn Dwayne Johnson into a truly classic superhero.

Get ready to see Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson karate chop his adversaries while out-smarting: the “Fast & Furious” actor has signed on to star in “Doc Savage,” Johnson said in an Instagram post on Monday. Written and directed by Shane Black (“The Nice Guys”), the film is in development at Sony Pictures. Johnson called Doc Savage “the world’s first superhero,” noting that popular pulp magazine character from the 1930s and 40s predates Superman. In fact, the comic book hero was often called “a superman,” which eventually inspired the creation of the Man of Steel. Also Read: Johnny Depp Is Being Blackmailed by Amber.
