The new movie is coming to theaters this summer, and we’ll break down what we know about it so far here!
The breakneck pace at which Marvel Cinematic Universe movies used to be released has slowed down considerably. The last MCU movie to bow in theaters was 2024’s “Deadpool & Wolverine,” and the company seems dedicated to a quality-over-quantity approach. This summer, fans will get a chance to see the MCU’s take on a team of heroes that have been difficult to bring to the big screen thus far: The Fantastic Four. Find out what you should know about the new movie “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” before you see the movie below!

Plot: When two weddings are accidentally booked on the same day at the same venue, each bridal party is challenged with preserving their family’s special moment. In a hilarious battle of determination, the father of the bride and sister of the other bride chaotically go head-to-head as they stop at nothing to uphold an unforgettable celebration for their loved ones.
Review: Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon clashing over competing weddings at the same venue on the same day sounds fun. Even the initial trailer for You’re Cordially Invited gave me some hope that the Nicholas Stoller-directed comedy would give us a one-two punch of actors to root for as they try to undermine one another. With Stoller responsible for some of the funniest romantic comedies of the last decades, including directing Forgetting Sarah Marshall and writing The Muppets, I remained hopeful that this movie would turn out to...

If ever there were a season in need of some lighthearted escapism, this winter would surely be it. So audiences may well embrace Amazon’s wedding comedy, “You’re Cordially Invited” — streaming on Prime January 30th — as the equivalent of fast-food comfort. It’s familiar, it goes down easy, and you barely have to make an effort. But when it’s over, you’ll either instantly forget it or wonder why you’ve got such a sour taste in your mouth.
The most surprising thing about this by-the-numbers comedy, in fact, is that it comes to us from writer-director Nicholas Stoller. He updated Kermit & Co. so delightfully in “The Muppets,” tartly reconceived the revenge rom-com with “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” and scored on the small screen with both “Platonic” and the updated “Goosebumps.”
So it’s tempting to assume that Stoller’s participation here is akin to that of a franchise owner: he set up shop,...

From Norman Osborn as a mentor to stunning animation… this is Spider-Man like you’ve never seen him before.
It’s time to swing back into action! Disney+ is bringing Peter Parker to life in a whole new way with “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,” premiering Wednesday, Jan. 29. Fans of the classic Spider-Man cartoons will feel right at home, but this time, there’s a fresh twist: Norman Osborn steps in as Peter’s mentor instead of Tony Stark. Throw in some nostalgic nods to the web-slinger’s comic book roots, an all-star voice cast, and appearances by Marvel favorites like Daredevil, and you’ve got a series that’s as much a love letter to Spidey’s past as it is an exciting leap forward. Ruth Wilson’s power to switch between vulnerability, resilience, and outright manipulation makes her one of the most versatile actresses in films. A bright and daring actress, her repertoire ranges from works like Jane Eyre to The Affair. Her layered characters make for some of the best drawn-out characters in movies and TV shows, even if she is not leading them.
Ruth Wilson as Alison Lockhart in The Affair | Credits: Showtime
Wilson gave some of her finest performances in a number of films and TV shows, with each of them receiving more critical acclaim than the previous ones. One of these performances never had her on the screen, yet she was able to paint a perfect picture of her character.
10. See How They Run (2022)
Ruth Wilson shines in a film filled with caricature-ish roles. See How They Run is a comedy murder mystery that takes you back to the 1950s London theater scene.

One of the most iconic rides in all of Disney is celebrating a milestone this week and the perfect time to ride it!
Disney parks have more than their share of epic and iconic rides. Yet Space Mountain is something special. It’s not just how it’s a great roller coaster, it’s entered the pop culture lexicon.
In the 1980s, pro wrestling star Ric Flair regularly referred to himself as “Space Mountain” on the idea of “an old ride but still the best around.” That worked because it pertains to the ride itself, whose history has always been intriguing.
Disney had long resisted pure “thrill rides” with a notable exception being the Matterhorn mountain in Disneyland. Walt himself had an idea for an indoor coaster in 1964, hoping to make it part of the “new Tomorrowland” as a “SpacePort.”
It never came off as the technology for what was...

Costs for ad-free streaming have risen precipitously in recent years, and audiences are growing more accustomed to watching commercials.
The onset of 2025 means it’s time to start reviewing spending for the year. Entertainment budgets are almost always one of the first items to be trimmed, and ad-supported streaming plans are making that choice even easier by allowing viewers to switch to a less-expensive plan with commercials instead of simply canceling a given streaming service altogether. New data from Hub Research shows that ad tolerance is continuing to grow, especially among viewers of live TV programming.
Key Details: Hub found that 66% of viewers say they’d rather put up with ads if it means saving $4 to $5 per month. The same percentage say that ads during live TV are more tolerable than ads during on-demand programs. Viewers say earning rewards for watching ads would make them more likely to pay attention to them.

Along with the first movie in the animated franchise, there are plenty of movies like Sing 2 that capture the same magic that makes the family-friendly sequel such a gem. Much like its predecessor, Sing 2 is a jukebox musical and features a satirical look at the entertainment industry. Amy Adams almost didn’t appear in the American version of The Office because of one casting concern among the creative team. Based on the BBC series of the same name, The Office was a mockumentary that followed a seemingly mundane paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania called Dunder Mifflin. The show ran for nine seasons on NBC from 2005 to 2013, won five Emmys, and remains an iconic series today, especially with the extended episodes on Peacock. Adams appeared in The Office as Katy Moore, a salesperson who visits the office to sell purses. Eventually, she and Jim (John Krasinski) strike up a romantic relationship that lasts until season 2.
In an episode of the podcast Office Ladies from The Office alums Jenna Fischer (Pam) and Angela Kinsey, it’s revealed that Adams wasn’t the first choice for the role. According to Fischer, they shot a whole day’s worth of footage...

While Muppet fans are currently mad as Hell at Disney for scrapping the beloved Muppet Vision 3D theme park attraction, there was once a time when the Mouse House put a fair bit of attention and effort into celebrating the iconic felt characters they now own.
Most notably in 2011, the studio released The Muppets, a big-screen reboot that found Kermit, Fozzie, Gonzo and the gang (plus some human beings) teaming up to save Muppet Studios from an evil oil tycoon. Disney is happy with the results of its initiatives to curb account sharing among subscribers so far.
Password-sharing restrictions may not be customer-friendly, but there’s no doubting the effect they can have on a streaming service’s bottom line. They can help convince viewers who have been using — but not paying for — a particular service to bite the bullet and sign up themselves, lest they lose access to their favorite shows and movies. Disney is one of the latest companies to begin enforcing rules against password sharing on its streamers, and the company’s chief financial officer Hugh Johnston said that everything is going well on that front thus far.
Key Details: Johnston said this week that Disney+ password-sharing rules are “working out well for us in terms of subscriber growth.” He still expects to see incrementally more benefits from the restrictions in the coming months. Disney+ allows customers...

Password-sharing restrictions, new ad plans, and more international expansion will keep streamers growing in the years to come, according to a new survey.
The general consensus among streaming analysts is that there’s simply not that much growth to be had for providers in the United States. Generally speaking, everyone who wants a streaming subscription in the U.S. already has one, but that doesn’t mean there’s no room for growth elsewhere. A new projection from Ampere Analysis reinforces that notion, showing that global streaming subscriptions will continue to grow until they surpass 2 billion by 2029.
Key Details: Ampere says that growth in the Asia Pacific region will be key for pushing global streaming subscriptions past 2 billion by 2029. Password-sharing restrictions by Disney+, Max, Netflix, and others will be key in aiding growth. Revenues will grow almost three times faster than subscribers as streamers prioritize profits. “Gladiator” (Universal Pictures) ‘Gladiator’ (2000)
If the long-awaited arrival of Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator” sequel has you in the mood to revisit the original 2000 film, Hulu has you covered this December. Russell Crowe stars as Maximus Decimus Meridius, a faithful soldier of the Roman Empire, loyal to Marcus Aurelius, who loses everything at the hands of Marcus’ scheming, sniveling son Commodus (a slithery Joaquin Phoenix) and winds up fighting for his life in the Gladiator arena. Disney has played with A Christmas Carol before, but is Mickey or the Muppets better?
It's likely that no book in human history has been adapted as many times as A Christmas Carol. Every year brings some made-for-tv movie that plays on Charles Dickens' classic tale of miser Ebenezer Scrooge changing his ways thanks to three Christmas Eve ghosts. It's impossible to count how many versions there have been, including TV shows.
For Disney feature films, a recent turn was the 2009 CGI animated film where Jim Carrey voiced and performed Scrooge and other roles. It wasn't that bad a film, but it suffered from some padding, while many can complain about the "uncanny valley" of the CGI.
For most Disney fans, there are two takes on the story that shine bright: 1983's Mickey's Christmas Carol and 1992's The Muppet Christmas Carol. Both are still held as wonderful classics for the holiday season,...

Longtime Disney production executive Louie Provost is leaving the company’s fold.
Insiders say the executive’s contract was up, with Provost set to depart at the end of this year.
Provost joined the company in 2007 as an assistant to then-president of production Oren Aviv. He climbed up the production and development ranks, making it to The Hollywood Reporter’s Next Gen list in 2015 and to his current title, executive vp, production as he oversaw a range of live-action titles. Among those were the $ 1 billion hit Aladdin, the fondly-regarded The Muppets, the big-budget Maleficent and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, and the personal Pete’s Dragon. Saving Mr. Banks and Rescue Rangers were also movies he shepherded.

Early in the new Disney+ series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, we meet our young hero, Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers). He is in a bedroom that looks an awful lot like one you might have found in any suburban house here on Earth in the Eighties, and he’s playing with a pair of dolls that are roughly the size and design of the action figures that Kenner released around the original Star Wars film trilogy. Wim and his best friend Neel (Robert Timothy Smith) have mock lightsaber battles while waiting for the bus to school.

As huge as Cher is behind the mic, she also had one hell of a movie career, even earning two Oscar nominations and a win. Cher was surprisingly talented on the screen but she also had several big-time directors supporting her like Robert Altman, Mike Nichols and George Miller. Of course, as with any actress, Cher ran into some real jerks on the set…and she’s not afraid to name names.
As far as who made Cher want to turn back time and reconsider which contracts she signed, she cited two in particular: “There are only two directors I didn’t like: Peter Bogdanovich and the guy from The Muppets,” referring to Frank Oz. “I actually got the guy from The Muppets fired. I said, ‘Either you’re going or I’m going,’ which is a shame because he’s a really good director, but he had a thing about me.

Muppet fans are a passionate bunch. For example, if you release a movie that makes Lorne Michaels look like a genius, and Jim Henson seem like kind of a tool, they will voice their displeasure. Now these lovers of felt are rising up to condemn the actions of the Muppets’ current corporate overlords: the Walt Disney Corporation.
It was just announced that Disney World’s Muppet*Vision 3D will be closing for good, and the space it occupied will soon be home to Monsters Inc. Land. The original attraction, which opened back in 1991, featured a 3D film starring the original Muppet gang, as well as live characters like Statler and Waldorf. Cher may have won Best Actress at Cannes for her performance in Peter Bogdanovich’s 1985 feature “Mask,” but that didn’t mean she enjoyed working with the director.

For Bogdanovich, Cher detailed his sexist remarks on set. “He was an asshole,” Cher said. “He was not nice to the girls in the film and he was so fucking arrogant. I really, really disliked him.”

However, that total does not account for overlap created by the Disney Bundle.
Will the holidays be a joyous season at the House of Mouse? Disney’s fiscal fourth quarter 2024 earnings were revealed on Thursday morning, and as part of the report, the company revealed that it had grown to 174 million Disney+ Core and Hulu customers, plus 35.9 million Disney+ HotStar subscribers in India. While those totals do not account for overlap created by the Disney Bundle, that means globally, Disney has 210.6 million Disney+ and Hulu subscribers.
Disney+ leads the way, now numbering 158.6 million customers worldwide. That’s a jump of 4.8 million from last quarter, when the streamer shared that it had 153.8 million global viewers. Its U.S. and Canadian total is 56M; in India, Hotstar has 35.9M; with the remaining 138.5 internationally.

Spectrum TV customers get access to more than $80 in free streamers, and the company wants to make it easier to use them.
Charter Communications wants its customers to know that better access to free entertainment is coming. Charter operates the Spectrum TV cable business, and in the last 14 months has made deals with Disney, NBCUniversal, Paramount, Warner Bros. Did Jason Segel almost quit How I Met Your Mother? (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Despite How I Met Your Mother’s success, Jason Segel felt fulfilled. In a roundtable discussion with The Hollywood Reporter, Segel, now starring in Apple TV+’s Shrinking, opened up about his struggles during the final years of the beloved sitcom. Although he was juggling multiple film roles, including parts in This Is 40 and The Muppets, he admitted, “I was depressed.” Talk about a plot twist! It turns out that all that glitters wasn’t gold for Segel as he grappled with his creative satisfaction.
During this tumultuous time, Segel realized he needed to balance asserting his artistic freedom and navigating the industry’s demands. “It’s great to decide of, ‘fuck it, I do what I want,’ but there’s a system of permission in place,” he explained. This struggle was particularly evident when he...

The top-10 list adds to Disney’s efforts to make it easier for viewers to find the titles that they are most excited to watch.
The paralysis that you feel when you sign into a streaming service and can’t decide what you want to watch is real. Content discovery is one of the key focuses of nearly every platform on the market because the sooner cord-cutters can get viewers to the titles they are most interested in, the happier and more engaged those customers will be. To expedite that process, on Wednesday, Disney+ introduced a new carousel on its homepage called “Top 10 Today.” As the name suggests, the new row features the 10 most popular shows and movies on the platform every day. This way, if you are looking for the latest release or a hot new episode, it will be easier to find, but if you’re also unsure...

Formerly, customers could add Disney+ to their Hulu account for an extra $2 per month.
Customers curious about Disney+ now have fewer choices to sign up for the service. Previously, Disney allowed new subscribers to sign up for a Disney+ subscription as an add-on to Hulu, as they can do with ESPN+, Max, and other streamers in order to keep their bills all in one place and take advantage of discounts. However, the House of Mouse has begun informing customers that they can no longer purchase Disney+ as a Hulu add-on, instead pushing users to one of the Disney Bundle options instead.
Key Details: Formerly, Disney+ could be added to Hulu for an extra $2 per month. Customers are now encouraged to sign up for the Disney Duo Basic bundle for $11 per month. Viewers who had the Disney+ add-on via Hulu are being updated to the Duo Basic plan at no additional cost.
