The details of Sinead O’Connor’s will have been revealed, including final wishes for the posthumous release of her music.
As reported in The Sun, the late singer encouraged her children not to be precious with her unreleased music: “I direct that after my death, and at the discretion of any of my children who are then over 18, my albums are to be released so as to ‘milk it for what it’s worth.'”
In 2021, O’Connor told People she had been instructing her kids “since they were very small” to call her accountant and take the reins on potential posthumous releases. “Make sure the record companies don’t start releasing my records and not telling you where the money is,” she remembered telling them.
Besides the instructions about her music, O’Connor left £1.7 million (roughly $2.1 million) of her estate to her children. This amounted to £1.4 million (or $1.75 million) after paying off debts,...

When it comes to this year’s Oscar nominations, the love was spread across the distributor scoreboard, from legacy Hollywood studios and their specialty divisions, to streamers and maverick indie distributors.
Netflix walked away with the most of any individual distributor on Tuesday with a total of 16 nods after Emilia Pérez landed a spot in 13 categories, the most of any film this year and setting a new record for a non-English-language film. And it’s just one shy of the all-time record for any film (All About Eve, Titanic and La La Land each landed 14).
Next up on the Academy’s scorecard of top-nominated individual distributors was powerhouse A24 with 14, including 10 for The Brutalist. The movie, which swept the Golden Globes, will use its front-runner status as it continues to expand in theaters, where it has earned a promising $5.9 million despite only playing in several hundred cinemas to date.

Andrea Arnold stands out as one of the most remarkable female directors to emerge from England, with an indie legacy that is unmatched. Hailing from the tranquil town of Dartford in South-East England, her most intimate works often mirror the distress of her early life experiences. Born to teenage parents who later separated, she grew up in a council estate, immersing herself in the local chalk pits, fields, woods, and motorways. Her upbringing in a working-class family, raised by a single mother with four children, cultivated a profound empathy for life’s modesties and the inherent smallness of existence, which in turn heightened her appreciation for the expanse of literature and art— becoming a recurring theme in her filmography.
Her ability to capture the artistic essence of the working class is evidenced by her three-time win of the Cannes Film Festival‘s Jury Prize, an honor she shares with only...

It began with the spark of a candle in 1941 related to the Max Fleischer Superman cartoons. Wait, a comic book genre?! No one was certain what to think about pages coming to life. The comic book genre has been under siege during "Awards Season" since 1978 when Christopher Reeve made the world believe a man could fly.
Recently, a different Bat signal had been emblazoned across Hollywood's sky, and it is solid gold. Can we stop hating on this genre now?
It probably won't happen as long as people like Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Ridley Scott, Roland Emmerich, and David Cronenberg are helming Hollywood. They're so influential and vociferous against the comic book genre that it tends to make the award bureaus reconsider a person acting in spandex really isn't "acting." As if cosplay doesn't involve imagination.
And so, hate continues against any visual entertainment from comic books and graphic novels.

Gus Van Sant, the acclaimed filmmaker behind Good Will Hunting and Milk, is now supporting the psychosexual thriller Antinous. This modern-day drama is inspired by the life and tragic death of Antinous, the beloved companion of the Roman emperor Hadrian.
The film will be the directorial debut of visual artist Stuart Sandford, who also wrote the script. Antinous follows the journey of a contemporary young actor who becomes convinced that he is the reincarnation of Antinous. The story weaves ancient Roman grandeur with Hollywood’s fixation on youth, beauty, and eternal fame.
In a statement for Variety, Van Sant shared his excitement, saying, ‘I’m thrilled to see Stuart Sandford, a brilliant photographer and sculptor, bring this historical relationship to life on screen.‘

Filmmaker Gus Van Sant, best known for Oscar winners “Good Will Hunting” and “Milk,” has come on board to back psychosexual thriller “Antinous,” a modern-day drama inspired by the life and death of Antinous, the gay lover of the Roman emperor Hadrian. Visual artist Stuart Sandford wrote and will direct the film, which will be his feature film debut.
“Antinous” tells the story of a present-day young actor, who becomes convinced he is the reincarnation of Antinous, sparking a psychosexual drama that bridges the grandeur of ancient Rome with Hollywood’s obsession with youth, beauty and immortality.
Van Sant said: “I’m excited to see Stuart Sandford, an amazing photographer and sculptor, create a beautiful film inspired by the historical relationship between Hadrian and Antinous.”

Sean Penn may not be the first actor who comes to mind when thinking over the history of funny movie performances. Indeed, Penn’s reputation is as the most serious of thespians, and his is a well-earned one, built upon award-caliber work in heavy-hitting dramas like Dead Man Walking, Mystic River and Milk. But in fact, Penn’s long and impressive filmography is peppered with roles that have seen him shifting gears from drama to comedy, sometimes with memorable results.
Penn’s co-starring turn with then-wife Madonna in Shanghai Surprise may have been an early disaster, but the star kept on scratching his comedy itch nonetheless, starring alongside Robert De Niro in the remake We’re No Angels. Letting his funny side out finally paid off for Penn in terms of awards love, when his performance as a self-absorbed jazz guitarist in Woody Allen’s Sweet and Lowdown garnered an Oscar nomination.

Dune and Dune: Part Two director Denis Villeneuve has stated that he has no intention of helming any more movies in the franchise after his planned Dune: Messiah adaptation, but that doesn't mean Warner Bros. will stop making them!
According to scooper Daniel Richtman (and backed up by a report from World of Reel), the studio is planning to move forward with at least one more Dune movie and a second TV series.
HBO's Dune: Prophecy was not as acclaimed as the films, but it reportedly did pretty well from a viewership standpoint.
The first two movies were big successes, but a fourth chapter would still be somewhat surprising given the direction Frank Herbert's saga goes in after the second book. Villeneuve has shown little interest in adapting the later novels, Children of Dune and God Emperor of Dune, as he feels the story starts to become too "esoteric.

Josh Brolin struggled a lot before Thanos’ role (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Yes, Josh Brolon struggled quite a bit. “For 22 years, the phone never rang,” he admitted. Yeah, Thanos had the Infinity Stones, but Brolin? He had stock trading and self-doubt to keep him afloat.
The 90s weren’t kind. Brolin spent years bouncing between roles that were so forgettable, even IMDb barely noticed. At one point, he co-founded a website tracking stock market trends. Hollywood stardom? More like finance bro side hustle. But his struggles weren’t just professional—1995 hit hard. His mother died in a car accident a day after his 27th birthday. That same year, his father divorced Jan Smithers, and two years later, married Barbra freaking Streisand. Life wasn’t just throwing curveballs—it was chucking boulders.
And then came No Country for Old Men. Brolin sent in a tape for the Coen brothers, who promptly dismissed it.

Dune: Part Two director Denis Villeneuve recently shared a positive update on Warner Bros.' plans for a third movie, confirming that the script for an adaptation of Dune: Messiah is officially in the works.
Villeneuve also confirmed (though it really didn't come as much of a surprise) that Anya Taylor-Joy will return as Alia Atreides following her brief cameo in the last movie.
In Part One, we learn that Paul Atreides' mother, the Bene Gesserit Lady Jessica, is pregnant with the late Duke Leto's child. When the Fremen take in the survivors of the Harkonnen massacre, Jessica agrees to become the tribe's new Reverend Mother (she isn't really given a choice) and is "persuaded" to drink the Water of Life (a blue substance that's been extracted from a juvenile sandworm).

No Country for Old Men is the 2007 award-winning neo-Western by the Coen Brothers, based on the hit book by Cormac McCarthy, and both the movie and novel are populated with memorable characters. The movie follows a man named Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin), who stumbles upon a cartel's suitcase full of money and decides to run with it. That decision kicks off a chase through the American Southwest between him, Sheriff Ed Tom Bell (Tommy Lee Jones), and the terrifying Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem). All three men are tied by fate yet rarely meet throughout the film.
The movie was a major success, earning $171.6 million at the box office (via Box Office Mojo). No Country for Old Men is one of the Coens' best movies, nominated for eight Oscars, winning Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor for Bardem. Sean Penn would like to thank the Academy…for nothing. Despite two Best Actor Oscars — putting him in the company of Marlon Brando and Gary Cooper — Sean Penn is calling out AMPAS for their lack of risk taking.
It’s been more than 15 years since Sean Penn won his last Oscar (for Milk; he won his first for Mystic River), but he keeps himself in the loop enough to have some thoughts on how simple the Academy can be in their choices. “The Academy have exercised really extraordinary cowardice when it comes to being part of the bigger world of expression, and in fact, have largely been part of limiting the imagination and very limiting of different cultural expressions.”
So what does Sean Penn hope to see at this year’s Oscars? Surprisingly, he has some high expectations with what is currently projected to score some major nominations. “I don...

Sean Penn has launched a blistering attack on the Academy Awards for "limiting filmmaking".The 64-year-old star has won two Best Actor Oscars for 'Mystic River' and 'Milk' respectively but had a scathing verdict on the "extraordinary cowardice" of those who vote for the Academy Awards for a lack of risk-taking when it comes to prize winners.Speaking at the Marrakech Film Festival, where he received a lifetime achievement award, Sean said: "The Academy have exercised really extraordinary cowardice when it comes to being part of the bigger world of expression, and in fact, have largely been part of limiting the imagination and very limiting of different cultural expectations."So I don't get very excited about what we'll call the Academy Awards (except for) when a film like 'The Florida Project', or 'I'm Still Here' (are nominated), or, you know, 'Emilia Perez',...

Sean Penn arrived at the 21st Marrakech International Film Festival to receive a prestigious tribute, bringing with him a characteristically unfiltered perspective on the film industry, global politics, and the looming presence of artificial intelligence. Speaking candidly to an international press corps on Tuesday, the two-time Oscar-winning actor and director, offered insights that blend his trademark social activism with a nuanced view of contemporary challenges.

Sean Penn is not done torching the Oscars. First, he threatened to literally smelt his Oscar statues over politics. And this year, the filmmaker is slamming what he called the “extraordinary cowardice” of those who vote for the Academy Awards in general — especially when it comes to boundary-pushing features.

Sean Penn has had it with people being politically correct.
The Oscar-winning actor made an impassioned plea for people “to be as politically incorrect as their heart desires,” while being honored with an award on Saturday during a glitzy gala night at Morocco’s Marrakech Film Festival, where guests included Luca Guadagnino, Monica Bellucci, Tim Burton, Justin Kurzel, Jeff Nichols, Alfonso Cuarón and Walter Salles.
“For those of you with any familiarity with me and what has been my life, you’ll understand that I don’t often miss the opportunity to say an opinion,” Penn said.
“And I have one [opportunity to do so] tonight in celebration of this incredible group of people that this festival brings together,” he added.
Penn went on to reference the so-called Munk Debate about political correctness held in 2018 between British multi-hyphenate Stephen Fry and clinical psychologist Jordan Peterson in Toronto.

Justin Kurzel’s neo-Nazi thriller The Order opened the 21st Marrakech International Film Festival on Friday evening, with the director jetting over from Australia where he recently wrapped WWII drama The Narrow Road to the Deep North with Jacob Elordi.
Kurzel told Deadline that the Moroccan festival had been a special place for him ever since he made the 24-hour trip from Australia in 2011 to compete with first feature, true crime drama Snowtown, which won the jury prize and best actor for Daniel Henshall.
“The French distributor pleaded for me to come. It’s a long away… she said, ‘You better come… the festival will change you.’ I did… and just the city, it’s really quite magical. It was the first time I was with first-time filmmakers, so I was able to establish a bit of a posse, a bit of tribe,” he said.

Dune and Dune: Part Two director Denis Villeneuve has often mentioned that he is (or was) a huge Star Wars fan, and has even suggested that George Lucas' original trilogy was an early influence on his decision to pursue a career as a filmmaker.
Despite his love for the franchise, Villeneuve has now explained why he has no interest in directing a movie set in the galaxy far, far away.
While chatting to The Town Podcast, Villeneuve said directing a Star Wars movie simply isn't "a dream of his" because "Star Wars became crystallized in its own mythology, very dogmatic, it seemed like a recipe, no more surprises."
He also feels that Return of the Jedi derailed the franchise back in 1983.
“I was the target audience. I was 10 years old. It went to my brain like a silver bullet. I became obsessed with Star Wars. I mean, The Empire Strikes Back...

Despite the first Dune movie picking up a nomination for Best Picture at the 2022 Academy Awards, Denis Villeneuve was not nominated for Best Director. Understandably, this didn't sit very well with a lot of people - including star Josh Brolin.
Brolin, who played loyal Atreides War Master Gurney Halleck in both movies, was very vocal about Villeneuve being overlooked the first time, and is even more adamant that the filmmaker should be recognized by the Academy for his work on recent sequel, Dune: Part Two.
“If he doesn’t get nominated this year, I’ll quit acting,” Brolin tells Variety. “It was a better movie than the first one. When I watched it, it felt like my brain was broken open. It’s masterful, and Denis is one of our master filmmakers. If the Academy Awards have any meaning whatsoever, they’ll recognize him.”

Dune: Part Two star Josh Brolin implores the Oscars to recognize Denis Villeneuve for the sequel after he was snubbed for the first movie. Based on the book by Frank Herbert, Villeneuve's first Dune movie was released in 2021. It was well-received and won six Oscars, including for Best Original Score, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, and Best Visual Effects, but Villeneuve himself wasn't nominated for Best Director. Dune: Part Two was critically acclaimed and a major box office success following its release earlier this year, but it remains unclear how it will perform at the upcoming Academy Awards.
In his new memoir, From Under The Truck (via Variety), Brolin, who plays Gurney Halleck in the franchise and is an Oscar nominee himself for his supporting performance in 2008's Milk, makes the bold statement that he'll "quit acting" if the filmmaker isn't recognized for Dune: Part Two. Nearly 40 years later, Josh Brolin still remembers Steven Spielberg‘s advice from the set of The Goonies.
Recounting the 1985 film as “probably the greatest experience of my life,” the Oscar nominee revealed what the producer told him on the set of the Richard Donner-helmed adventure comedy.
“I think [my character] Brandon is freaking out, and the tunnels represent the inside of his mother’s womb, and he’s trying to cut that umbilical cord,” he explained to People of his character analysis.
Spielberg had a more straightforward approach to the script, which he developed with writer Chris Columbus. “He looked at me, and he goes, ‘Yeah, just act. Just say what’s on the page.’ He wasn’t being an a—hole, he was right,” said Brolin.
The role of sweatband-donning big brother Brandon ultimately became Brolin’s breakout role, years before his acclaimed performances in No Country for Old Men...

Costume designer Danny Glicker goes way back with director Jason Reitman, so much so that Glicker says he considers the filmmaker part of his “creative family.” Glicker first worked with Reitman on the director’s debut feature, “Thank You For Smoking,” and also served as the costume designer on later features like “Up in the Air,” “Labor Day,” “The Front Runner,” and “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” So the costume designer, an Oscar nominee for “Milk,” perhaps knows best where the new film “Saturday Night” stands within Reitman’s acclaimed filmography.

Will the Oscars answer “Conclave’s” prayers?
Edward Berger’s mystery thriller has been one of the buzziest films to emerge from the fall festivals. Adapted from Robert Harris’ 2016 novel, the film premiered at Telluride, where it received raves from attendees. Since then, its awards prospects have grown, especially following its Audience Award wins at the Mill Valley and Middleburg fests. Those regional accolades helped propel future best picture nominees such as “American Fiction” (2023) and “Belfast” (2021) and best picture winner “Green Book” (2018). “Conclave” has popular appeal, but will its religious themes be an advantage or a potential hurdle in the Oscar race?

Anime has a unique way of blending genres, tones, and styles, creating shows that entertain, intrigue, and surprise us. One such anime is the recently released Science Saru’s Dandadan. However, this is not the first time an anime has done such unique experiments. Another anime that shares a distinct knack for combining humor, horror, and unconventional storytelling like Dandadan is Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead.

Where Dandadan dives into paranormal oddities with energy with hints of humor, Zom 100 taps into an apocalyptic zombie world with a protagonist who relishes freedom in the most surprising of ways. Although the series has its share of issues that keep it from fully achieving its potential, Zom 100 still offers a spirited experience that will resonate with Dandadan fans, particularly those looking for an optimistic spin on bleak settings.

Elon Musk has attracted the wrath of his daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, yet again. The tech giant’s attendance at Donald Trump’s recent rally in Madison Square Garden was subject to criticism from Wilson. The rally itself was controversial for Trump loyalists’ alleged racist remarks and the Republican nominee’s focus on immigration.
Vivian Jenna Wilson and Elon Musk reportedly have a troubled relationship, especially after the former came out as trans when she was sixteen. Earlier this year, Musk reportedly mentioned that the ‘woke virus’ had ruined his daughter (still calling her his son). Wilson retaliated against Musk’s claims in the interview and called him out.

The Australian performer is having a banner year thanks to his movie “Deadpool and Wolverine” dominating the box office, and longtime Oscar viewers still fondly remember when he hosted the 2009 ceremony to great acclaim (watch a clip below).
As it turns out, Jackman is very much “in the mix” to serve as this year’s host alongside his superhero counterpart Ryan Reynolds. There are plenty of benefits to starring on the successful Prime Video series "The Boys," but there tends to be one major drawback, too. Almost every actor involved with the series is guaranteed to go through at least one really disgusting, disturbing scene. Erin Moriarty, who plays Starlight, ended up having a lube mix-up during the filming of "Herogasm," for example, and The Deep actor Chace Crawford had to pretend to eat his octopus friend, Timothy. There are also frequently a ton of bodily fluids involved, which is a major problem for the character Mother's Milk, who has obsessive compulsive disorder (Ocd) and a fear of germs. Laz Alonso, who plays Mm, has had to go through more than his fair share of gross-out moments, and in season 4, he went through his worst moment yet.

Being under the spotlight in public or living as a Hollywood celebrity is never easy, especially based on what Sean Penn had to deal with during his relationship with Madonna and after getting a divorce. Much like who Madonna is to the music industry, Penn has also achieved great levels of success in Hollywood.

Penn, who is 64 years old has been awarded Oscars for his work on the silver screen. Overall, he’s achieved pretty much everything one could imagine achieving as an aspiring actor. But things weren’t the greatest at home while he was married to the musical diva.
Sean Penn dealt with a rumor claiming he struck Madonna with a baseball bat
Not all relationships are beds of roses, not many marriages last either because things frizzle out or simply because things get rocky.

Sean Penn and Tom Hanks have a few things in common. Both of them are American actors, have starred in countless breathtaking films, and both of them, being straight, have played a gay character in their respective careers which got them an Oscar each. For Sean Penn it was the 2008 biographical drama, Milk, and for Tom Hanks it was 1993’s legal drama film, Philadelphia.

While they both have similar experiences of playing a gay role, both actors came out with a different outlook on the whole thing. While Tom Hanks believes gay characters should be played by gay actors, Sean Penn indirectly counters his point of view calling it a tremendous overreach.

Dune: Part Two director Denis Villeneuve recently shared a positive update on Warner Bros.' plans for a third movie, confirming that the script for an adaptation of Dune: Messiah is officially in the works.
Though the filmmaker hasn't full committed to helming the project, we'd be very surprised if he didn't return to finish his take on this saga - although, if and when he does, he won't actually consider it a trilogy.
“First, it’s important that people understand that for me, it was really a diptych,” Villeneuve says of the first two movies during an interview with Vanity Fair. “It was really a pair of movies that will be the adaptation of the first book. That’s done and that’s finished. If I do a third one, which is in the writing process, it’s not like a trilogy. It’s strange to say that, but if I go back there,...

Although Dune: Part Two didn't reach $1 billion at the global box office as some had predicted (always a long shot in the current climate), it did pass $700 million worldwide, meaning a third film based on Frank Herbert's second novel, Dune: Messiah, always seemed likely.
Part Three still hasn't been officially greenllt by the studio, but director Denis Villeneuve has now shared a very positive update on Warner Bros.' plans for the final chapter.
While speaking to Variety at TIFF, the filmmaker confirmed that the script for Dune: Part Three is officially "in the works."

This is obviously a strong indication that Villeneuve intends to return to complete the trilogy, but he hasn't always sounded too certain about it.
