“Dog Man” is expected to lead the box office pack as two newcomers, Universal’s action comedy “Love Hurts” and Sony’s gory slasher “Heart Eyes,” join the fray.
In what’s expected to be another chilly winter weekend for cinemas, “Love Hurts” and Heart Eyes” are each targeting single-digit debuts of $7 million to $8 million. That should leave “Dog Man,” Universal and DreamWorks Animation’s family film about a police officer who becomes surgically fused to his faithful pup after getting injured on the job, to lead again with $19 million to $22 million in its second outing.
This won’t be the slowest Super Bowl box office on record — that dreadful distinction belongs to 2024’s haul of $42 million across all films, led by “Argylle” and “Lisa Frankenstein.” But movie theater attendance tends to stall around the weekend of the big game, which is regularly the most-watched television event of the year.

As the fourth instalment of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man begins, Peter Parker is attempting to do a presentation about his and Dr. Connors' magnetic generator but continues facing the wrath of the nasty Dr. Bentley Wittman.
Norman Osborn summons the teenager to his office where he bumps into Harry. With his son out of the way, Norman puts him and Peter in lockdown so they can talk. The Sokovia Accords are in place and the battle at that airport in Germany still happened...albeit without Spider-Man. Captain America and Bucky are on the run, and Norman vows to take care of the Accords for Peter.
The Oscorp CEO has created several costumes for Spider-Man, starting with one comic book fans will recognise as Prodigy. That supposedly tested well but when the suit's cape gets caught during the hero's attempt to stop a mugging, Peter takes a beating.

Murphy died Sunday of cancer at his home in Kent, England, his agent, Thomas Bowington, announced.
Murphy also starred on the short-lived comedies The Incredible Mr. Tanner in 1981, L for Lester in 1982 and Lame Ducks in 1984-85 before joining the long-running BBC sitcom Last of the Summer Wine as Alvin Smedley for an eight-season run from 2003-10.
ITV’s Man About the House, from Thames Television, starred Richard O’Sullivan as student chef Robin Tripp, who moves into a London flat shared by two young women, Chrissy (Paula Wilcox) and Jo (Sally Thomsett), to enjoy a platonic relationship. The landlords, George and his sexually frustrated wife, Mildred (Yootha Joyce), are told Robin is gay.

Not even hours after the official trailer for the new Fantastic Four film dropped, Marvel delivered a taste of a comic book movie that reminds us all of what a superhero flick should be like. With its 1960s flavor and use of over-the-top visuals, only one word comes to mind: Fantastic!
Not since Tim Burton's Batman (1989) or Sam Raimi's Spider-Man series have we seen such a dedication to a superhero's source material. As the trailer clearly demonstrates, director Matt Shakman proves to viewers that any adaptation should be a comic book first and a movie second.

After oohing and ahhing at the new trailer released this morning, this Marvel aficionado took a second look at this new side of Marvel, and it's one that feels familiar yet desperately needed. As previous MCU entries left much to be desired, a more accurate depiction of...

Actor and comedian Brian Murphy, best known for his iconic roles in groundbreaking sitcoms “Man About the House” and “George and Mildred,” passed away Sunday at his home in Kent, England. He was 92.
Murphy’s agent, Thomas Bowington, confirmed his death, noting that the actor died peacefully with his wife, actress Linda Regan, by his side. “Brian was a truly joyful and profoundly good-hearted man,” Bowington said.
A veteran of British entertainment, Murphy’s career spanned over seven decades. He began in the 1950s with Joan Littlewood’s Theatre Workshop, where he helped transform British theater and make it more accessible to wider audiences. His early stage work included Shakespearean productions and a memorable role in “Oh, What a Lovely War!”

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow was already an Oscar-winning star when she joined the MCU with Iron Man. Playing Tony Stark’s secretary/love interest Pepper Potts, Paltrow was the non-metallic heart of Stark and she went on to appear in subsequent films in the MCU such as Iron Man 2 and Avengers: Endgame.
Paltrow has focused on her controversial wellness brand Goop for the past few years, reportedly bringing up her net worth to $200 million. The actress still appears in a few films but her stint in the Iron Man franchise is probably her most lucrative acting gig. While it has not been disclosed, the films’ success has undoubtedly got her great paydays.

The Red Hulk is finally set to make his big screen debut with Harrison Ford in Captain America: Brave New World. Ford replaced the late William Hurt in the MCU and will be making his debut in the franchise. His Red Hulk has already gone viral along with his own nonchalance at the prospect of him being a CGI monster.
Now that there are three Hulks in the MCU, fans have obviously wanted to know who would win a battle. The biggest clash is between Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and Ford’s latest Red Hulk. While fans have no doubt been theorizing, the Air Force One star compared the question to a popular Star Wars debate and dismissed it.

Clark Gregg, even if he lives to be 100 and works until his final day as an actor, will forever be known best as Agent Coulson. The actor helped kick off the Marvel Cinematic Universe during Phase 1 as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., culminating in a pivotal role in 2012's "The Avengers," one of the biggest and most important movies ever made. He even survived his death to headline seven seasons of Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." More than a decade before all of that, though, he wrote one of the biggest hits of 2000.

When Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. launched on Disney+, it was meant to be part of the MCU. After a rocky start, The Avengers spin-off found its footing in the second half of season 1 and excelled when it tied into Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
However, as time passed, the series became more and more far-removed from what's since been dubbed the Sacred Timeline. In recent years, we've learned that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige didn't want any of those Marvel Television shows to happen; they were former Marvel Entertainment Chairman Ike Perlmutter's doing.
So, when the opportunity presented itself, Feige talked Disney CEO Bob Iger into allowing Marvel Studios to oversee everything by producing MCU TV shows for Disney+.
The canon status of both Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter has been hotly debated for years. Many argue that they're clearly part of the MCU, an argument which carries a little...

With less than three weeks left until the release of Harrison Ford’s Captain America: Brave New World, the film is currently in a political mess. For the longest time, fans have drawn comparisons between Ford’s President Thaddeus Ross and Donald Trump. Ford and Trump don’t see eye to eye and many Republican fans believed the character of Red Hulk to be a mockery of Trump.

A teenage Josh Brolin quickly got humbled by Steven Spielberg while filming 1985’s The Goonies.
The actor, who’s now 56, recently looked back at his early acting days on a recent episode of SiriusXM’s Literally! With Rob Lowe, including his starring role as Brand Walsh in the beloved film, directed by Richard Donner.
“I think Goonies was quite an accident,” Brolin recalled. “I went in there, I’ve been told, they pulled the Brolin thing, ‘Are you [James] Brolin’s kid? You want to be an actor, huh?’ So instead of that nepotistic thing, they looked at me and were like, ‘Oh yeah? So act.'”
The Avengers star set out to prove himself as a serious actor, putting his head down in the books and hoping to learn as much as possible.
“I studied,” he said. “I got [Konstantin] Stanislavski books, [Jerzy] Grotowski…and Antonin Artaud and the Theatre of Cruelty.

Much has been said about Daredevil: Born Again potentially including some big cameos, though set photos - and the first trailer - already confirmed that we'll see White Tiger make his MCU debut in the street-level TV series.

Did Mark Ruffalo Really Slap Channing Tatum Multiple Times While Filming Foxcatcher? ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia )
Mark Ruffalo didn’t hold back when it came to slapping Channing Tatum on the set of Foxcatcher. The Avengers star spilled the details during a sit-down on Hot Ones, recalling how Tatum explicitly told to “slap the s*** out of” him for a scene. Taking his co-star’s direction quite literally, Ruffalo did just that—repeatedly. “He did ask me to slap the s*** out of him,” Ruffalo revealed. “It was easy to do because he’d beaten the s*** out of me so many times. Betty Ross is one of the more forgotten characters of The Hulk’s mythos, whether it be the films or comics. She appeared last in the MCU back in 2008, when Edward Norton was the Incredible Hulk. Essayed by the likes of Jennifer Connely (in Ang Lee’s Hulk film) and Liv Tyler (in the MCU), Betty Ross has always served as the ‘beauty’ part of the Beauty and the Beast dynamic she has going on with Bruce Banner and the Hulk, much to Thaddeus’ charging. However, that dynamic was lost in the MCU, especially after the franchise started shipping Bruce with Natasha.

Ask any ’90s kids and you will hear the answer Betty Ross. The character appeared in Marvel Comics as the first love of Bruce Banner and was portrayed by Liv Tyler in the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk.

When Netflix pulled the plug on the Defenders Saga in response to Disney+'s planned launch, most fans thought that was it for the Man Without Fear and his fellow street-level superheroes. Fortunately, that's proven not to be the case.
While we're still waiting to see whether Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist return, it's been an exciting few years in the MCU for Daredevil. He's made cameo appearances in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Echo and had a memorable supporting role in an episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
Talking to SFX Magazine about Daredevil: Born Again, Charlie Cox addressed his future as Matt Murdock beyond his upcoming Disney+ series.

Mark Ruffalo’s Role Prep (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Mark Ruffalo had a Poor Things panic moment. The 56-year-old actor was absolutely not feeling his age when it came to his sex scenes with Emma Stone in the quirky, science-fantasy flick. “I didn’t know if I could pull this off,” Ruffalo confessed in a recent interview, adding that he wondered, “Am I too old to be doing that kind of stuff? Does anyone want to see that?”
Cue the anxiety about baring it all. The Avengers star admitted he spent some time in doubt, worrying about how fans would react to his role as Duncan Wedderburn alongside Stone’s Bella Baxter. But his biggest worry? Hollywood’s prude phase. “Sexuality is so deeply connected to the psychology of a character,” Ruffalo shared, pointing out that it should be explored through the character, rather than shying away from it.

Marvel fans online have been asking the same question since before Iron Man premiered in theaters: Which of Earth’s mightiest heroes is the most powerful? It’s a tough question because there are a lot of possible answers: Is it Scarlet Witch or the Hulk? Maybe Thor? Who could say…
We’re posing a different question today, one that we can easily answer with data: Who is the richest member of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes based on their estimated net worth?
Since assembling for the first time in 2012′s The Avengers, the lineup of the team has constantly changed between movies, and it continues to moving into 2024.
Of course, fans know and love the core group – Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye). However, so many other favorites have been added on along...

Following Spider-Man 2's release in October 2023, the hope was that Insomniac might shift focus to Wolverine ahead of its rumoured 2024/2025 release. The sequel received a mixed response from fans, so the X-Man's game was a chance for the studio to bounce back.
Of course, huge data theft in December 2023 revealed the company's plans for Spider-Man 2 Dlc and even a Venom spin-off, along with various snippets of gameplay footage and major story spoilers for Wolverine. Insomniac appears to have scrapped that Spidey content in response to the breach but what of the fan-favourite X-Man?
Talking to Variety (via GameFragger.com) following Insomniac co-founder Ted Price’s retirement, new co-studio head Chad Dezern said, "We’ve announced Wolverine, and we’d love to talk more about Wolverine, but we have to be like Logan today, and remain very stoic until it’s time to pop the claws down the road.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was a wild innovative entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This 2021 movie centered on Shaun (Simu Liu), a nice guy working as a valet attendant in San Francisco with his best friend Katy (Awkwafina). The pair are attacked by a pack of warriors led by the aptly named Razorfist, which wrecks a bus.
Shaun is forced to confess to Katy his past: His real name is Shang, the son of Xu Wenwu (Tony Leung), a thousand-year-old warlord also known as The Mandarin. He was known for controlling a set of ten mystical bangles that he used to form a criminal organization called the Ten Rings. When his wife was murdered, Wenwu went on a darker path that forced Shang to kill someone. Shang broke away from his dad to find a normal life.

In 2026, audiences worldwide will see the multiverse under Doom. The clock is ticking, and the supervillain is coming. Soon, everything we've ever known about the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be turned upside down, and we need at least one hero to step up and stop the madness.
Better yet, what about assembling The Avengers once again? After all, it's been a while since they've been out of the picture, and understandably so. With the death of Tony Star and Natasha Romanoff — as well as the retirement of Stever Rogers — some of the most iconic heroes the world has ever known are gone. So who else could suit up and join the fight?
Big MCU crossovers are often surrounded in secrecy as the best surprises are *intended* to be saved for the premiere. Remember how Andrew Garfield tried to deny so hard that he wasn't in Spider-Man: No Way Home? Well,...

Saturday Night Live took aim at MSNBC this weekend in a skit that satirized the network’s coverage of President-elect Donald Trump and the personalities of its anchors.
The sketch featured Sarah Sherman as Rachel Maddow, who introduced herself by warning viewers, “Dads better hide their older, bookish-looking lesbian daughters.”
The segment parodied MSNBC’s panel discussions, describing the featured analysts as “basically like The Avengers for your aunt.” Cast members portrayed network regulars, including Ari Melber, Joy Reid, Stephanie Ruhle and Chris Hayes, skewering their on-air quirks.
Ego Nwodim, playing Reid, asserted that the network would focus on Trump’s actions rather than his words, saying, “This time around, we’re not gonna get sucked in by every new shiny, crazy statement from Trump.” Moments later, Sherman’s Maddow interrupted with breaking news that Trump allegedly wants to “trade Connecticut for Italy.”

The Red Hulk will show off his many differences to Bruce Banner's Hulk in the MCU when he makes his official debut in Captain America: Brave New World. Bruce Banner's Hulk has been at the core of the MCU since his first appearance in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, but Marvel Studios has also recently introduced many other Hulk-like characters to the MCU. This pattern, that has seen the debut of She-Hulk, Abomination, Freak, Skaar and more, will continue in 2025's Captain America: Brave New World with the debut of the Red Hulk.
Harrison Ford will be taking over from the late William Hurt in Captain America: Brave New World to play Thaddeus Ross, the former General who will now be depicted as the new President of the United States. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is notorious for its difficulty in balancing comedic and serious tones, often whiplashing from one emotional beat to another with violent speed. The films of the MCU are well-known for their quippy sense of humor, which has often been criticized as a crutch the franchise uses to maintain mass appeal at the expense of earnestness. Though serious scenes being interrupted by comedy is a far more frequent problem in the MCU, the reverse can be true almost as often.
In many cases, a lighthearted or comedic beat in the franchise will be suddenly interrupted by the sudden development of a very serious plotline. This is often the fault of the films' editing style, which can result in haphazard cuts that abruptly shift more humorous scenes into far more dramatic moments with little warning. In other cases, the tone will slingshot from funny to heavy over the...

Back in the 1970s, the world was very different than the one that we are currently living in. Racist stereotypes were often cheered and people were expected to behave a certain way due to the stereotypes surrounding them, but no one seemed to mind it.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced us to a lot of characters over the years. Heroes, villains, supporting characters in each category; the MCU is full of life. From Earth to Space, the universe to the multiverse; there are plenty of memorable characters in this legendary franchise. And that's not even including all of the ones we are yet to meet, for the MCU will continue to expand in new ways in the years to come.
Characters make a good story great, as they give us heroes to get invested in, unlikely villains to root for, and vessels for which we get to experience the story through. Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, Hulk, and Hawkeye were the original six Avengers and it became very clear very quickly that the MCU had struck gold with them. Music biopics do not always do well at the box office, but A Complete Unknown is a definite exception. To date, the movie has made over $53 million worldwide, and has primarily rolled out in the United States. This total is expected to grow over the coming weeks, as the Bob Dylan biopic will expand its international rollout over the course of January. While the movie's focus makes it appeal mostly to an American audience, the total will still grow as more people get the chance to see the film.
The film's director, James Mangold, is no stranger to the music biopic. He previously narrativized the life of Johnny Cash in the acclaimed 2005 film Walk the Line. The movie earned multiple Oscar nominations, including Best Actor, a category in which A Complete Unknown is likely to be a strong competitor. From The Meg to Furious 7, Jason Statham has starred in some of the best action movies of his career in the past decade. Over the last 10 years, the traditional movie star has quickly become a thing of the past. The new stars that draw crowds to movie theaters are superheroes and cartoon characters. Moana and the Avengers are more likely to attract a huge audience than Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock. But Statham is one of the few exceptions. He’s one of the only actors left who can get audiences out to theaters with their name alone.
Since 2015, Statham has joined the Fast & Furious franchise, parodied his own career with a self-deprecating spoof role, and fought a 75-foot prehistoric shark with his bare hands. Statham reunited with Guy Ritchie for a jaw-dropping heist thriller and teamed up with David Ayer for an adrenaline-fueled revenge thriller. The past decade...

Phase 1's The Incredible Hulk dropped a nod to a classic Hulk character that may finally get to make his first on-screen MCU appearance more than seventeen years later. Hulk hasn't had a movie of his own since Louis Leterrier's 2008 The Incredible Hulk. Nevertheless, the McU's Hulk has completed a full arc across several appearances as a supporting character. Hulk's status as a founding member of the Avengers, his time as an intergalactic gladiator, his role in saving the universe, and the reconciliation of his two personas have already been explored throughout the years.
One drawback of Hulk's lack of solo movies is that his friends and enemies haven't had the chance to appear in the MCU as often as other Marvel characters. For example, Doc Samson only had a small role in The Incredible Hulk, Absorbing Man and Glenn Talbot appeared in Agents of Shield outside the McU's main timeline,...

Directed by legendary writer Brian Clemens this macabre vampire yarn is marked by the Edgar Allan Poe template but has a charm and humour all of its own
The sword fighting vampire genre never really took off, but it wasn’t for the want of trying by this very enjoyable Hammer horror from 1974, a macabre swashbuckler written and directed by British genre legend Brian Clemens; his sole feature directing credit in fact. Clemens was a prolific writer who did so much to get TV audiences addicted to The Avengers, The Persuaders and The Professionals and it surely must have occurred to him that this trio of vampire-hunting leads could well have been spun off into a recurring TV series, perhaps under the aegis of Lew Grade.

Some of the thirst traps mentioned in the segment came as no surprise; case in point, soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo, but some threw us for a loop.
The Bear star Jeremy Allen White was in the mix, thanks to his Calvin Klein ad, and interestingly, Jenna Bush Hager also made it into the segment.
However, one that we didn’t see coming was Martha Stewart for her Swimsuit Illustrated cover at the age of 81.

"It's kind of my answer to those who find my story inspiring." Universal has unveiled an exciting making-of featurette for Love Hurts, an amusing action comedy arriving in theaters in February before Valentine's Day next month. Making his feature directing debut on Love Hurts is acclaimed veteran stunt coordinator and fight coordinator JoJo Eusebio, whose past credits include a handful of the greatest action films of the past decade including Black Panther, The Avengers, the John Wick films, The Matrix Resurrections, Violent Night. "No matter how hard you try, you can't break up with your past." Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan stars as an unlikely hero, a seemingly mild-mannered realtor with a dark secret he is desperate to leave behind. Rashida Jones, a respected news operator who has led MSNBC for four years, will leave the NBCUniversal cable outlet to pursue other opportunities, she informed executives and staffers Tuesday.
She will be replaced on an interim basis by Rebecca Kutler, a veteran news executive with a long track record of managing talent and devising innovative programming concepts. She takes the lead role at MSNBC as it faces not only the challenges of covering the Trump administration for its demoralized liberal audience, but also the prospect of being spun off into a new publicly traded company by corporate parent Comcast.
The executive swap takes place as MSNBC is grappling with a significant downturn in its ratings. Between the election and the end of 2024, MSNBC’s primetime audience between the ages of 25 and 54 — the demographic most prized by advertisers in news programming — fell 65%, according to data from Nielsen. There has been concern that the network,...

Deadpool & Wolverine was a huge success for Marvel Studios, breaking box office records and helping shrug off claims of so-called "superhero fatigue" from those eager to see the genre's demise.
We'd imagine Disney is eager to capitalise on the popularity of Wade Wilson and Logan before the Multiverse Saga ends and insider Daniel Richtman claims to have learned when we'll next see the duo.
Despite previous reports that they'll return in Avengers: Secret Wars, Richtman says both Deadpool and Wolverine will have a role to play in Avengers: Doomsday. This isn't remotely surprising because Earth-10005 is expected to factor heavily into the 2026 release, likely during an Incursion with Earth-616 which pits the X-Men against The Avengers.
Deadpool and Wolverine being major players in both Avengers movies is a must, and despite Doomsday and Secret Wars being shrouded in secrecy, we already know the Merc with the Mouth strikes up a friendship with Thor.

When Norton took on the role of Bruce Banner in Marvel’s The Incredible Hulk, fans were eager to see his take on the green superhero. However, despite playing such an iconic character, Norton’s earnings for the movie were surprisingly modest and it was the first and last time fans saw him turn green.

You might think it's a bit premature to label Avengers: Doomsday as the most hotly-anticipated movie of 2026, but considering we're talking about an Avengers movie that will kick off the final chapters of the Multiverse Saga, I think that is a pretty fair assessment. Marvel Studios bring their A-Game when the Avengers get together, with all four previous installments of the subfranchise within the Marvel Cinematic Universe all surpassing $1 billion (two of them surpassed $2 billion). A fraction of that would be a huge win for any other franchise.
And Marvel really is pulling out all the stops to ensure that this one makes itself at home amongst the other Avengers movies. We'll not say that the franchise's best days are all behind it, but the MCU has struggled to make the current saga as seamless and must-see as the Infinity Saga, so you can bet they are committed to making...

A new Deadpool & Wolverine video edit imagines the deleted scene every fan wishes were real as the Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes fight while Logan wears his comic book-accurate cowl. Hugh Jackman first played Wolverine in 2000's X-Men. Despite having appeared in two different X-Men movie timelines and led the Wolverine trilogy, the actor only got to wear his Marvel character's iconic yellow and blue costume in Deadpool & Wolverine. While news about Deadpool 4 happening does not come, fans have been revisiting the movie, and a talented one has made Jackman's Wolverine suit debut even better.
VFX artist Captainsting shared what Hugh Jackman's Wolverine with his cowl fighting Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool would have looked like.
In the MCU movie, the character only gets his iconic cowl near the end of the film. Jackman pulls down his cowl before Deadpool and Wolverine fight the Deadpool Corps. The video edit gives the Marvel...
