When the series was cancelled midway through the first season in March 2009, producers had time to make the last episode the series finale, solving the mystery and answering most of the outstanding questions.

The character Rose Tyler is a play on the character Rose Tyler from Doctor Who. In the British version, John Simm, who plays The Master in Doctor Who, plays Sam Tyler.
