As the format continues to gain traction, here’s our regularly-updated list of upcoming 4K Ultra HD disc releases in the UK.

Sitting alongside our list of upcoming DVD and Blu-ray releases (that you can find here), we’re also keeping a calendar for those who support the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc format. As we learn of new UK releases, we’ll add them to this list.

We have started adding shopping links too. We’d be obliged if you clicked on them, as it really helps us in our quest to make the Film Stories project of magazines, website and podcast profitable. We’re a 100% independent publisher, and we quite like drinking coffee. It’d be lovely to afford some more.

Liz Wise Lyall is returning to Lifetime to serve as its senior vice president of scripted programming and development, the network announced on Thursday.

Djimon Hounsou is one of the most prolific actors working in Hollywood today. In the comic book movie realm alone, he's starred in Constantine, Guardians of the Galaxy, Aquaman, Captain Marvel, Shazam!, Black Adam, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

He also received "Best Supporting Actor" Oscar nominations for his roles in Blood Diamond and In America. Despite finding that level of success, the actor recently looked back on his career in an interview with CNN and revealed he's "struggling financially to make a living."

"I am still struggling trying to make a living," Hounsou admitted. "After 30 years...maybe the first 10 years was trying to acclimate myself to the industry, to establish myself. But I’ve been in this business making films now for over two decades and with two Oscar nominations and been in many blockbuster films, and yet, I’m still struggling financially to make a living. Constantine was released in 2005 to mixed reviews, and while it's unclear if the sequel will ever happen, there are plenty of reasons to be excited about it. The Constantine sequel was announced to be in the works in 2022, but it remains to be seen whether the project will move forward. With DC currently focusing on establishing a new cinematic universe overseen by James Gunn, projects like Constantine 2 would only work as Elseworlds stories.

Constantine may be one of the darkest fantasy movies of all time, incorporating horror elements well-suited to director Francis Lawrence. This movie only has 46% on Rotten Tomatoes, despite being one of the most engaging, well-conceived, and original action and horror flicks of the 2000s. Based on the DC Comics character, the movie took a lot of creative liberties but delivered a highly entertaining mix of stylized violence and character-driven drama.

The new DC Universe has only just begun, although recent episodes of Creature Commandos, its first series, have already set up Keanu Reeves' dream role in the franchise. Following speculation of Keanu Reeves joining the MCU, the actor has also discussed interest in appearing in the Dcu. While there are many roles that would fit Reeves' unique brand of charm, brooding, and conviction, he new universe appears to be setting up one of their most popular characters in a way that I believe would suit Reeves perfectly.

Back in 2021, filmmaker Mike Flanagan let it be known on social media that he was interested in making a “standalone horror/thriller/tragedy” movie that would center on the DC Comics character Clayface, who is usually presented as a villain in the pages of Batman comic books. A while after that, he confirmed that he had met with veteran DC movie producer Jon Berg to pitch a “horror-leaning” take on Clayface, as well as ideas for the DC properties Scarecrow, Justice League Dark, and Constantine. The meeting “kind of went nowhere.” But then, in March of 2023, Deadline broke the news that Flanagan had scheduled another Clayface pitch meeting, this time with DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran. Yes, MCU and Keanu Reeves makes total sense, doesn’t it? Well, MCU agreed. In fact, Kevin Fiege exclaimed that they have been trying to rope him in, “for almost every film we make,” the John Wick star has yet to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut.

Blu-ray.com has reported on the newly revealed details of the new physical media copy of the Francis Lawrence movie. The Ultra High-def Blu-ray will hit retailers on February 18, 2025. Twenty years after it first hit theaters, Constantine is finally getting a 4K Ultra HD upgrade.

The DC Vertigo adaptation, which stars Keanu Reeves as the Hellblazing occultist, will be available to purchase either on a 4K Blu-ray disc with a standard or steelbook copy, or digitally via all major online retailers from February 18 (you can check out a list of additional features below).

Shortly after James Gunn announced the first "chapter" of the new Dcu slate last year, rumors began to circulate that a direct sequel was in the works, and Warner Bros. would later confirm that the project was indeed in the early stages of development.

Since then, we've had conflicting reports relating to the movie's status, and a recent rumor that Gunn and Peter Safran had decided to cancel a number of planned projects led to speculation that Constantine 2 would likely be among them.

Fremantle’s German production house UFA has hired Constantin Film’s Christoph Müller for its cinema division. The producer, who is an exec producer on the Golden Globe-nominated September 5, joins from Constantin Film and will begin at UFA Fiction on February 1, 2025. We’ve known for a little while now that Warner Bros had intended to mark the 20th birthday of the Constantine movie with a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray debut for the film at some point in 2025. Now we have the confirmation of just when to expect it.

The studio has inked in a release of 17th February 2025 for the 4K disc. You can find the listing for it and order yourself a copy right here.

It looks like we’re going to get two discs in the box, although we’ve not got absolute confirmation of that. We’re hearing, but don’t hold us to it, that it’s going to be a 4K disc, and a Blu-ray that primarily brings across previous extra features.

In the summer of 2019, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams signed a huge overall five-year deal with Warner Bros. It was reported to be worth as much as $500 million, with the plan being for him to find new talent for the studio and develop projects for them.

Half a decade later, the studio has little to nothing to show for all that money. Despite that, he's just struck a new, far more modest agreement which will keep him tied to Warner Bros. for at least a couple more years.

In Variety's piece on the news, the trade reiterates that his Constantine TV series remains scrapped. As for the Superman movie he was producing which was set to feature a Black Man of Steel, it's "technically still alive but has seen no forward movement since early 2023."

Back in June 2019, J.J. Abrams struck a huge deal with Warner Bros. worth $500 million, one of the biggest in Hollywood at the time. The deal allowed Abrams to not only create content but also recruit and mentor new talent through his Bad Robot production company.

The idea was for him to become a mogul, with his company becoming a mini-studio, incubating fresh voices. Abrams and his wife, Katie McGrath, were set to lead the charge.

However, as of 2024, the deal has not played out as Warner Bros. might have hoped, Variety reports. While Abrams’ team had high ambitions, they struggled to meet financial and output targets. Bad Robot’s efforts, like setting deals with writers and producers such as Angela Robinson, Jessie Nelson, and Latoya Morgan, did not bear much fruit.

Superhero movies often make a splash upon release but can fade into obscurity or lose their appeal over time. These movies stand the test of time for a variety of reasons, whether through their prescience, artistry, or the way they contrast with modern trends.

Superhero cinema has changed notably throughout the 21st Century. Several contemporary examples from the MCU timeline and the Dcu timeline have pushed the boundaries of the genre in ways that were once deemed inappropriate or unsuccessful. Since the modern emergence of adult-oriented comic book movies and concurrent superhero fatigue, some of these older comic book movies have become increasingly relevant or refreshing.

Constantine (2005) Underrated...

Keanu Reeves makes for a great casting for his dream Marvel Cinematic Universe role in exciting art. The actor has had talks with Marvel Studios in the past, and Kevin Feige even told ComicBook.com that he talks with Reeves "for almost every film" the MCU makes. However, Reeves is not scheduled to appear in any of Marvel's upcoming movies. That could change, as there are still some major Marvel characters who are missing from the MCU, and one of them happens to have an emotional meaning for the star.

Earlier this year, an adaptation of the Stephen King novel The Long Walk (which was, like The Running Man and Thinner, published under the pen name Richard Bachman) went into production, with director Francis Lawrence, whose previous credits include Constantine, I Am Legend, Water for Elephants, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Parts 1 and 2, Red Sparrow, Slumberland, and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, at the helm. The anticipation for Lulu’s return on General Hospital is high. After a bomb destroyed the Floating Rib restaurant in 2020, Lulu — then played by Emme Rylan — ended up in a coma. Ever since, she has been in a long-term care facility. But the meds she was given took a toll on her liver. So, she underwent a risky transplant operation. The donor, Sam, died from a heart attack while in recovery, and Lulu’s mom, Laura, has been begging her daughter to emerge from her comatose state. Just over two months since it was first announced that former “All My Children” star Alexa Havins (ex-Babe Carey) would be joining the cast of “General Hospital” as a recast Lulu Spencer, we’re finally learning when the actress will be making her return to daytime television.

In an interview published in the latest issue of TV Guide Magazine, on newsstands this week, the magazine reveals that fans will finally get to see Havins beginning with the Monday, November 18 episode.

“The writers have written some fun things,” the actress said of what viewers can expect from her character, last played by Emme Rylan. “She’s waking up from a four-year coma, so we’ve got a lot of twists and turns and we hit the ground running,” Havins added.

Back in July, Djimon Hounsou signed on to star in a shark thriller called Beneath the Storm alongside Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton) and Whitney Peak (Hocus Pocus 2), with Tommy Wirkola (Violent Night) writing and directing for Sony Pictures and producers Adam McKay and Kevin Messick of HyperObject Industries. Nicholas Pryor, who played a father to both Tom Cruise and to Robert Downey Jr. in “Risky Business” and “Less Than Zero,” died Oct. 7 of cancer in Wilmington, N.C. He was 89.

One of the main producers of Constantine 2 shares a big positive update about the DC sequel.

In a recent interview with ComicBook, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who worked as a producer on the original Constantine film and will be back for Constantine 2, was asked about a status update on the sequel. According to Bonaventura, the Constantine 2 script is finished, as he shared the following:

You know it's in my inbox right now. Funny enough, I'm too scared to read it, though. I want it to be good so bad. I'll probably read it in the next few days, when I get on an airplane.
