Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (Ssu) is a movie franchise focused on characters from Spider-Man comics. It started in 2013 when Sony planned spin-offs from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, including a Venom movie.
After The Amazing Spider-Man 2 didn’t do well, Sony teamed up with Marvel Studios to bring Spider-Man into the MCU but kept building a separate Venom universe.
The Ssu includes the Venom series (ending with Venom: The Last Dance), Morbius, Madame Web, and Kraven the Hunter. Most of these movies got bad reviews, especially Morbius, Madame Web, and Kraven.
Kraven the Hunter failed in every way, and reports suggest it might be the last movie in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (Ssu). The studio seems unwilling to keep investing in a franchise with poor ratings and frequent financial losses.

“Sonic the Hedgehog 3” outpaced the box office competition on Christmas Eve.
The film unwrapped $7.5 million on Tuesday from 3,700 North American theaters. “Sonic 3” is projected to bring in $50 million between Wednesday and Sunday. So far, the animated threequel about a blue anthropomorphic speed demon has collected $60 million domestically. It opens internationally on Christmas Day.
Disney’s “Mufasa: The Lion King” was trotting close behind with $7.1 million on Tuesday, boosting its tally to $49.6 million in North America and above $150 million worldwide. The “Lion King” prequel is pacing to generate around $45 million over the five-day holiday frame.
Over the Christmas stretch, three newcomers will join the box office race: Searchlight’s Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown,” the Focus Features “Nosferatu” remake and A24’s erotic thriller “Babygirl.” Those movies officially open on Wednesday with only the first two playing on Tuesday in afternoon previews, limiting the daily showtimes. Spider-Man: No Way Home was a stunning conclusion for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man: Homecoming trilogy and one of Marvel Studios' biggest hits ever!
The 2021 movie picks up immediately after the shocking cliffhanger to Spider-Man: Far From Home. Spider-Man (Tom Holland) is horrified when the late Mysterio manages to release a doctored video blaming Spidey for Mysterio's own crimes. It also has him revealing his true identity as Peter Parker. That has Peter briefly arrested.
Thankfully, with aid from Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), Peter was exonerated from crimes but still dealing with everyone knowing who he was. That put pressure on him, Mj (Zendaya), Ned (Jacob Batalon) and Aunt May (Marisa Tomei). Peter was convinced that MIT wouldn't accept him or his friends because of this and needed help.
Caution: This article contains obvious Spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home

The success of X-Men ’97 has encouraged Marvel to invest more in animation, leading to new animated series. In 2025, fans can look forward to Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Eyes of Wakanda, and Marvel Zombies. Plus, X-Men ’97 will return with Seasons 2 and 3 in development.
Now, insider Daniel Richtman reports that Marvel is working on three more animated projects set in the MCU.

‘Spider-Man 4’ was officially announced last year, but not much is known about it yet. What we do know is that Tom Holland and Zendaya will return, and Destin Daniel Cretton will direct the movie.
Before it was confirmed, rumors claimed the story was undecided between two options: continuing the Multiverse plot from No Way Home or focusing on a street-level story featuring Daredevil and Kingpin.
After news broke that Robert Downey Jr. would return to the MCU as Doctor Doom, Marvel Studios reportedly decided to go with the Multiverse storyline.
If you’ve been following the latest rumors, you’ve probably heard that many characters are expected to appear in the upcoming Spider-Man movie. These include Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men, Knull, Venom, Spider-Man 2099, and Miles Morales. Spider-Man: Far From Home might have had one of the best twist villains in mainstream Hollywood, but it still remains one of the lesser-loved Spider-Man films to come out of the MCU. However, Tom Holland revealed the amount of work he put into the film and the bruises he suffered as a result.

Speaking with Ethos, the actor revealed how Far From Home had to follow up Avengers: Endgame, which might have foreshadowed the Spider-Man sequel’s presence at the box office. While people were keen to see what the world of the MCU looked like after the events of Avengers: Endgame, it might not have had enough stakes to matter to audiences after the battle with Thanos.

When Sony Pictures decided to team up with Marvel Studios, The Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield was out and the hunt was on for a new Peter Parker.
Following an extensive search, relative unknown Tom Holland was tapped to play the iconic superhero in 2016's Captain America: Civil War. He'd later return in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Next up for Holland is Spider-Man 4 and Avengers: Doomsday. We'll surely see more of him beyond that and the actor reflected on learning he'd been cast as the wall-crawler in a recent interview.
As you might imagine, it was a day Holland will never forget...

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 may still be in its production stage, but there are already multiple rumors going around about who could be seen in the movie and who not. One of these very rumors has been circling Anya Taylor-Joy as well, as many speculate she might be joining the franchise through the said fourth installment in the web-slinger’s film series.

But as surprising as it may all seem, Sony head’s recent comments on the same seem to be further adding fuel to the fire as it sounds like exactly what fans needed on this topic.

Few weekends annually are less certain indices of future grosses than the one before Christmas. That said, a combined $97 million for the openings of two new family-oriented titles set theaters up for a healthy holiday season.
“Sonic the Hedgehog 3” (Paramount) was the clear winner with $62 million, with “Mufasa: The Lion King” (Disney) second with $35 million. This is the first time two films on this pre-holiday date have debuted at $35 million or more, and with higher ticket prices today a factor, the best overall since 2011.
The weekend also saw the start of New York/Los Angeles platform runs of two significant awards contenders. New York Film Critics’ Best Film winner “The Brutalist” (A24) despite an over three and a half hour running time averaged nearly $67,000 in four theaters, while Pedro Almodóvar’s first English-language film “The Room Next Door” (Sony Pictures Classics) started with $107,000 in six.

Once again, there are rumblings online about Black Cat potentially factoring into Spider-Man 4. We've been hearing similar chatter for a while and the news that Anya Taylor-Joy is being eyed for a role in the movie only seems to have generated a fresh wave of speculation.
Black Cat's introduction in the Spider-Man: No Way Home follow-up makes perfect sense.
Nobody remembers who Peter Parker is and the comics have established that, early on at least, Felicia has zero interest in the man beneath the mask. Reeling from the loss of Mj, the wall-crawler heading down a dark path seems like a logical next step and Black Cat would surely facilitate that after getting her claws into him.
Spider-Man franchise producer Amy Pascal was asked directly about the Taylor-Joy/Black Cat rumours at a recent press event and responded, "She would be fantastic. She’s amazing, [but] we’re not quite at that stage yet.

Spider-Man 4 has been one of the most talked-about Marvel movies ever since its announcement over a year ago. It’s confirmed that Destin Daniel Cretton will direct, with Tom Holland and Zendaya reprising their roles as Spider-Man and Mj. However, details about the plot remain scarce.
Early rumors hinted that Spider-Man would go up against Kingpin, possibly in a street-level story. But now, there are whispers that the movie could dive into the multiverse.
As for Zendaya, her role in Spider-Man 4 is expected to be smaller due to her busy schedule. Her character, Mj, currently doesn’t remember Peter, which could tie into the movie’s story, i.e., open the way for a new female lead.
As we have said, Marvel Studios is reportedly looking for new characters for the movie—a male and a female lead—to join Spider-Man and Mj. Some names being thrown around...

‘Spider-Man 4’ was confirmed to be in development last year, but there aren’t many details yet. We do know that Tom Holland and Zendaya will be back in their roles, and Destin Daniel Cretton will direct the film.
Other than that, not much is known. However, even before ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ premiered, there were strong rumors that Venom & Knull would eventually join the MCU.

For his latest role, Aaron put on a lot of muscle, saying that he gained 40 pounds. To pull it off, he trained and “ate so much f-cking food.”
However, according to him, some Marvel stars have taken the easy way out.

Actor Shameik Moore is under fire again for fueling rumors about another engaged actress from Spider-Man: Homecoming. He was thoroughly criticized on social media just a couple of weeks ago for doing the same with Hailee Steinfeld. But Moore responded to those rumors on Comic Con saying it was never his intention to imply something like that.

In fact, he apparently had a terrible weekend because of those rumors. Currently, though, he is being scrutinized for a video he posted on his TikTok account which featured an actress from MCU’s Spider-Man cast, who, too happens to be engaged. What has intensified the situation even more was the actress’ response to said video.

Shameik Moore, who voices Miles Morales in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, recently caused a stir when he appeared unhappy about his co-star Hailee Steinfeld’s engagement to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
While social media was filled with congratulations for the couple, who started dating in May 2023, Moore made an ill-timed tweet that seemed to show his disappointment over the news. Weeks later, Laura Harrier, known for playing Liz Allan in two Spider-Man MCU movies, called out Moore for his strange behavior once again.
Moore posted a video on TikTok with Laura Harrier that some people might think shows they have romantic feelings for each other. The video is from a year ago, taken at a party when someone asked them to pose for a photo, and Harrier mentioned that someone must have also filmed it.

Shameik Moore, who voices Miles Morales in ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,’ recently found himself in hot water as he seemed unhappy after his co-star Hailee Steinfeld announced her engagement to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
Social media was flooded with congratulations for the couple, who started dating in May 2023, but Moore opted for a different approach with an ill-timed tweet that sort of implied he was disappointed about her engagement.
Now weeks after, Laura Harrier, known for her role as Liz Allan in two MCU’s ‘Spider-Man’ installments called out the actor for his weird behavior once again.
Moore posted a video to his TikTok featuring Laura Harrier that might be interpreted as them potentially having a romantic interest in each other. The video is a year old and was taken at a party when somebody asked them to take a photo together, the Harrier added that someone must’ve also filmed it.

Don’t you love it when someone posts something that wasn’t meant for the world to see? That line might sound like a sarcastic jab, but in the case of Laura Harrier, the story is no different, only with a twist that has left the internet buzzing.

Let’s rewind to 2022. The Marvel star confirmed that she was engaged to Sam Jarou. The couple had been quietly building their relationship. Flash forward to more recent times. A video from around the same time, featuring Harrier and Shameik Moore, was circulating on social media. The problem? She didn’t want it out there anymore.
She recently made it clear that the video, dating back a year ago, should be taken down, especially given her engagement. The confusion around the video sparked even more curiosity among fans, who couldn’t help but notice the odd timing.

‘Spider-Man 4’ is one of the most exciting MCU projects currently in development. The movie was made official more than a year ago, but it was only recently that we got the news that Destin Daniel Cretton will direct and that Zendaya and Holland will reprise their respective roles.
At this point, nothing is known about the movie except what we’ve already mentioned. According to early reports, the movie was supposed to be a street-level story that saw Spider-Man going up against Kingpin. But with Kang the Conqueror out of the picture and Robert Downey Jr.’s Doom being the new villain, it seems that the upcoming Spider-Man flick will be a tmultiversal story.
Zendaya will reportedly be back in a smaller role according to the latest rumors due to her other commitments, but this also makes sense story-wise considering that she currently doesn’t remember Peter. A couple of weeks ago,...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is no stranger to intimidating bad guys. Even though some of the earlier villains in the franchise were a bit hit-or-miss, the Marvel Studios film series knew how to make its antagonists stand out. From power-hungry monsters to egotistical maniacs, the MCU truly has had it all when it comes to villains.
But for every Dark Elves there is a Loki, for every mismanaged Gorr the God Butcher there is a Thanos; wins so larger-than-life that it's almost impossible to regard them as villains in the same franchise, for these characters are complex beings capable of so much more than one note. And it's wins like these ones that stand the test of time.
The good news is that one of Marvel's very best villains is now reportedly set to make a comeback in one of the McU's most-anticipated movies. And if this report turns out to be true,...

Tom Holland is set to star in Christopher Nolan’s next film, and although he’s excited to be working with the Oscar-winning director, he doesn’t know what it’s about.
“It hasn’t started shooting, to be perfectly honest with you. I don’t know anything about it,” Holland said on Tuesday’s episode of the podcast Dish.
Holland continued to explain how the film’s details are under wraps: “I’m super excited. Everything is very, very hush-hush. I met with [Nolan]. It was awesome. He kind of loosely pitched what it was, and I’m sure when he’s ready he’ll announce what it is.”
In addition to Holland, other stars who have signed onto the project include Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o and Charlize Theron.

Tom Holland is set to film Christopher Nolan’s new movie in 2025 alongside Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Charlize Theron and more. But the “Spider-Man” actor remains mostly out of the loop for now on what he will actually be filming. Plot details are always under lock and key for new Nolan movies — that apparently holds true for the cast as well heading into the holidays.

Kraven The Hunter Passes $30M Worldwide As Mufasa: The Lion King Takes In $3M From Thursday Previews
CGI critters are set to do battle at the box office this weekend, as Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog 3 races into theaters alongside Disney's The Lion King prequel.
The Sonic threequel got off to a better start on preview night, taking in $6.5 million on Thursday. Mufasa only managed $3 million, but is expected to have a stronger opening weekend worldwide.
According to the latest estimates, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is looking at around $55 million to $60 million domestically. Mufasa is on track for $50 million in North America, but will likely reign supreme internationally with $130 million overseas for a $180 million global debut (Sonic doesn't open internationally until Christmas Day).
As for Sony Pictures' Kraven the Hunter, the latest (and possibly final) Ssu movie has only just passed the $30 million mark worldwide since arriving in theaters on December 13. We knew the Spider-Man-less Spider-Man spin-off would need a Christmas miracle to avoid becoming another...

Variety reports that Billy Bob Thornton turned down two big villain roles and he explains why he wasn’t interested while on The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast. Thornton revealed that he turned down playing the Green Goblin in Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man, as well as Owen Davian, the villain of J.J. Abram’s Mission: Impossible III, which eventually went to Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Thornton expounded,
I don’t have much interest in those kinds of roles. With the Green Goblin, I didn’t feel like getting up at 4 a.m. for five or six hours of makeup. And with Mission: Impossible III, I didn’t want to be the guy trying to kill Tom Cruise. If you’re the bad guy in a big movie like that, audiences remember it forever. I prefer to keep things looser and less predictable.”

As much as we love covering the careers of prominent actors like "Spider-Man" franchise star Zendaya or "Mad Max: Fury Road" protagonist Tom Hardy, there's something uniquely exciting about looking at the work of a fast-rising star like Louis Partridge. Since appearing in Netflix's "Enola Holmes," opposite "Stranger Things" star Millie Bobby Brown, the 21-year-old English actor has appeared in some high-profile films and television shows, building his resume under the guidance of visionaries like Matthew Vaughn and Academy Award-winners Danny Boyle and Alfonso Cuarón.
At present, it sure seems as though Partridge is preparing to set the world on fire for the next few years, with starring roles in Steven Knight's "House of Guinness" and George Jaques' "Sunny Dancer" on the way. He's also slated to appear in Noah Baumbach's next film and will seemingly lead a new(ish) action franchise for Vaughn. If you want...

“Kraven the Hunter” isn’t just one of the worst comic book movies ever made, but a sign that the “superhero fatigue” that has been hinted at for years has finally begun to set in. If audiences finally show declining interest in films based on Marvel comic books, it will be because projects like “Kraven the Hunter” coast off of tangential connections to other characters that audiences might be familiar with. The laziness of “Kraven the Hunter” is glaring, as the film isn’t interested in doing anything to differentiate itself from the countless other anti-hero origin stories of the past few decades. If there’s anything truly noteworthy, it is that “Kraven the Hunter” is so incompetent that it is actually rather impressive that it was released in theaters, and not sent straight to a streaming service.

Kevin Feige started his journey with Marvel Studios very early in his career. His journey with the franchise has been inspirational and fascinating at the same time. Starting his journey with the franchise on 2000’s X-Men, he was hired as an associate producer due to his knowledge of Marvel Comics.

No one could have predicted then that he would become the president of the franchise, a position that he has held for over 15 years. He has become such an important part of the beloved series that he has very few credits outside of it; two, to be exact.
While Marvel is the reason he has gained the reputation he has, the actor did work on two films before he joined the franchise. One which ended up being a cult classic film, and one which could have caused him to want to join big-scale projects.

Billy Bob Thornton rejected the chance to play a 'Mission: Impossible III' villain because he "didn't want to be the guy trying to kill Tom Cruise". The 'Bad Santa' actor wasn't interested in portraying arms dealer Owen Davian in the 2006 movie, which sees the character - who was played by the late Philip Seymour Hoffman - go up against Cruise's Ethan Hunt. And ahead of Sam Raimi's 2002 'Spider-Man' movie, Thornton turned down the part of Norman Osborn/ Green Goblin - which went to Willem Dafoe - because he didn't want to wake up in the early hours and sit in a makeup chair for "five or six hours". Speaking The Playlist’s 'Bingeworthy' podcast, he said: "I don’t have much interest in those kinds of roles. Bustin’ makes Sony and Netflix feel good as the studios announce their plans for an animated Ghostbusters movie! The global box office has faced challenges in recent years. The Covid pandemic, which temporarily shut down cinemas, and the growing popularity of streaming services have made it difficult for theaters to bounce back.
Some films, like Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible and Top Gun: Maverick, or this year’s hits like Inside Out 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine, have helped boost ticket sales, but analysts remain cautious.
While there’s been steady improvement, the recovery is still ongoing. According to Variety, 2025 could mark the first year of significant global growth. In this report, we’ll break down the key data and insights from the original article.
The global box office is projected to reach $33 billion in 2025, an 8% increase from the estimated $30.5 billion in 2024. North America is expected to lead with $9.7 billion, a 9% rise from 2024, while international markets (excluding China) are forecasted to hit $16.8 billion, up 7%. China’s box office alone is predicted to contribute $6.6 billion.

As you probably know, the global box office has been in trouble in recent years. Sure, one of the main causes is the Covid pandemic that closed the cinemas at the time, and with the rise of streaming services, the cinemas have been having a hard time getting back on track.
Sure, over the years, some movies did a lot to help the global box office – e.g., Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible and Top Gun: Maverick, or this year’s Inside Out 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine – but the analysts are still not satisfied.
When considering everything, the situation has been improving, but there is still room for more improvement, and as Variety reports, 2025 could be the first year with a significant global increase. However, Tom Holland might need to beware, as one particular storyline could cast a shadow on Spider-Man’s world. House of M: Spider-Man, a tale of loss, identity, and heartbreak, is so devastatingly dark that Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige might steer clear of adapting it for the big screen. This storyline highlights Peter Parker’s tumultuous existence and raises questions about the cost of his heroism.

Global box office revenues are expected to rebound to $33 billion in 2025, marking an 8% increase from 2024’s estimated $30.5 billion take, according to Gower Street Analytics’ latest forecast.
The North American market is set to generate approximately $9.7 billion, up 9% from 2024, while international territories (excluding China) are projected to deliver $16.8 billion, representing a 7% year-over-year gain. China is conservatively estimated to contribute $6.6 billion.
The forecast sees Emea delivering $9.1 billion, Asia Pacific (excluding China) generating $5.3 billion, and Latin America contributing $2.4 billion to the international total.
“2025 is set to be a strong year for the global box office, fuelled by robust studio slates and independent productions,” Gower Street Analytics CEO Dimitrios Mitsinikos said.
The projected figures still trail pre-pandemic levels, landing 14% below the 2017-2019 average at historic exchange rates. However, when calculated using current exchange rates, 2025’s forecast sits 1% ahead of 2023’s performance.

Tom Holland appeared on a Christmas-themed episode of the “Dish” podcast and got asked what it’s like acting opposite his longtime girlfriend Zendaya. The two have starred in three “Spider-Man” movies and will spend much of 2025 on film sets together as the stars of a fourth “Spider-Man” movie and of Christopher Nolan’s mysterious new film.
“Studios love it. One hotel room. Separate drivers. We’re not crazy now. Listen it’s work, alright?” Holland quipped when asked about being Zendaya’s co-star.
“Oh God, yeah. It’s a saving grace. Yeah, best thing that’s ever happened to me,” he added on a more serious note. “It’s just that perfect thing when you’re on set and a director will give you a note that maybe you don’t agree with, or I know that she doesn’t particularly like, and it’s just that, like,...

Venom: The Last Dance deleted scene on connection to MCU (Photo Credit – Instagram)
If you’ve watched Sony’s Venom: Last Dance, whether in theaters or through paid video-on-demand services, you might recall an intriguing sequence at the start of the movie. Early on, there’s a bar scene where Eddie Brock finds himself back in his original reality after a trip to Earth-616. While his sudden return isn’t explained in detail, for reasons left unclear in the film, Eddie travels through a portal, only to reappear in his own reality shortly afterward. However, what many viewers may not realize is that there was originally supposed to be additional screen time dedicated to the portal journey before his reappearance. This missing segment would have explained Eddie’s portal journey and its significance, but it was ultimately omitted.

Mikey Madison has certainly been rising through the ranks of Hollywood. With her noteworthy role being in 2022’s Scream, she has come a long way since, starring alongside Natalie Portman in Lady in the Lake. Most recently, she was a part of Anora, a film that has gotten much buzz but has certainly turned the heads of critics.

Her performance as the titular character was especially praised, embodying the essence of a s*x worker in ways that are rarely seen in the industry. Choosing to be more realistic than provocative with her acting, it would seem that the actress did some very thorough research to make sure she did justice to her character.
