Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, and Rupert Friend may never know how close to death they were while shooting Jurassic World Rebirth. Well, they will after reading Entertainment Weekly‘s latest feature about the anticipated Jurassic World standalone sequel. It turns out there were things more dangerous than dinosaurs on the set of Edwards’s new film, and after reading about them, my skin is still crawling.
“I’m allowed to say this now that we’re on the other side of it, but we shot in rivers and these mangrove swamps,” Edwards told Entertainment Weekly about filming Jurassic World Rebirth. “When we were scouting them, we saw poisonous water snakes, massive ones that we had to catch. We kept it quiet from the actors as they spent a whole day wading through the same area. And there were giant spiders that were poisonous and stuff on the edge of the trees.

There’s a new entry in the Jurassic Park / Jurassic World franchise heading our way, with Jurassic World Rebirth set to reach theatres on July 2, 2025 – and during an interview with Empire, director Gareth Edwards said that the new movie goes back to what he loved about the original Jurassic Park.
News of the new Jurassic World movie first hit back in January, when it was revealed that the screenplay – by original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp, returning to the franchise for the first time since The Lost World: Jurassic Park – had already been written. The project was assembled in a mad scramble after that, with Godzilla and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director Gareth Edwards ending up at the helm. This new Jurassic World movie won’t be featuring any returning lead characters from the previous Jurassic Park / Jurassic World movies, so describing it as a “Rebirth” could be accurate.

Jeff Goldblum does not expect to return to the Jurassic World universe and weighs in on the new saga, starting with Jurassic World Rebirth.
In a new interview, the Jurassic Park alum says his time playing Dr. Ian Malcolm might be over, but he is hopeful for the saga’s rebirth.
“I think Ian Malcolm may have ridden off into the sunset. Maybe,” Goldblum told Total Film. “Because this next one [Jurassic World Rebirth] – my friend Scarlett Johansson and my new friend Jonathan Bailey from Wicked, I think, are taking up the reins. And I can’t wait to see what they do. I think that’s a good idea.”
Goldblum first played Dr. Ian Malcom in 1993’s Jurassic Park. He reprised his role in its 1997 sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park. It wasn’t until 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom that Goldblum played Dr. Malcom again, followed by 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion.

Odd though it may seem, part of the reason "Jurassic Park" endures as a blockbuster classic is surely due to its horror elements. Like director Steven Spielberg's "Jaws," the 1993 movie gets downright hair-raising at times — an experience made all the more visceral by the fact there are two young children enduring the ordeal.
Alongside Drs. Alan Grant, Ian Malcolm, and Ellie Sattler, John Hammond's (Richard Attenborough) grandchildren find themselves stranded on Isla Nubar after the power goes down and several ravenous dinos are set free. Tim and Lex Murphy (Joseph Mazzello and Ariana Richards) provided a proxy for kids everywhere, putting young imaginations straight into the heart of the film and making the terrifying set-pieces all the more effective as a result.

Steven Spielberg grossed $10 billion with 37 films. However, Cameron grossed over $8 billion with only 14 films. Despite Steven Spielberg ranking as the top filmmaker, Cameron has more blockbusters.

Back in January, Universal Pictures made a surprising announcement: not only did they have a new Jurassic World movie in development, but the screenplay – by original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp, returning to the franchise for the first time since The Lost World: Jurassic Park – had already been written, and the movie was on the fast track to production. Soon after, we learned that it’s aiming for a July 2, 2025 theatrical release. Assembled in a mad scramble, the movie is now filming with Godzilla director Gareth Edwards at the helm… and during an interview with V Magazine, cast member Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton) indicated that this movie is an attempt to bring the franchise back to its roots and get closer to replicating what the original Jurassic Park delivered.
Bailey said (with thanks to Coming Soon for the transcription), “I’m on a really long holiday in the jungle, pretending to run away from fake dinosaurs…...

Steven Spielberg looks set to add another big name to his next film after Emily Blunt started talks to join the Amblin and Universal event movie.
Kingsman actor Colin Firth is in early talks to board Spielberg’s unnamed feature, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The movie project, based on a story by Spielberg, is written by David Koepp, who worked with the director on Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Universal has dated the film for a May 15, 2026 theatrical release, marking Spielberg’s first summer offering in a decade following The Bfg in 2016. No plot details are available for the project, but it is described as an event film, a genre the filmmaker helped invent with features such as Jaws and Indiana Jones.

Steven Spielberg may have found the leads for his new film, which has been rumored to be titled The Dish, but is apparently still untitled at this time – and these actors are both people Spielberg has never worked with before! Back in June, we heard that Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer and The Fall Guy) was eyeing a role in the film, and now Deadline reports that Colin Firth (The King’s Speech and Kingsman: The Secret Service) is in early talks to join Blunt in the cast.
Spielberg crafted the story for this film and will be directing from a screenplay that has been written by David Koepp. Unlike Blunt and Firth, Koepp is someone that Spielberg has worked with several times over the years; their previous collaborations include Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Michael Giacchino, one of Hollywood’s most celebrated and prolific composers, certainly has enough material for a greatest hits album. He’s created the brilliant scores to “The Incredibles,” “Up,” “Lost” and 2009’s “Star Trek”. An album with cues from these titles (and others that he’d composed), would do gangbusters. But he didn’t want to do just another greatest hits album.
Instead, he thought about his uncle Pete, who lived outside of Philadelphia. Uncle Pete, you see, owned an appliance store.
“He also sold stereos, and at the stereos were those big console stereos which we love. And RCA would send him tons of these demo records for the customers, so they can understand how great it sounds. Inevitably, we would go visit the store on weekends, and he would always give us albums to take home,” Giacchino explained. Soon enough, they had a giant collection of records,...

Steven Spielberg is known for his massive blockbuster franchises such as Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park, both movie series that became an integral part of childhood for many fans. As the decades rolled in, the filmmaker transitioned to more serious and mature themes, leaving behind some of his greatest creations.

It was quite unfortunate that he was criticized by many for the films he was so widely recognized for and so dearly beloved by fans, and so this became the catalyst that forced Spielberg to venture into a whole new level of filmmaking.
Steven Spielberg’s Earlier Movie Franchises Were Slammed By Critics
In an essay article by Francis Mrema via Medium, he pointed out what critics say about Steven Spielberg’s works. As a fan, he was equally disappointed with the negative comments about the auteur.

This article contains spoilers for "The Boys" season 4, episode 5, "Beware the Jabberwock, My Son."
"The Boys" is always upping the ante. It's the most subversive superhero show on TV and one that not only perfected the idea of "What if superheroes bad" but made it more than just a gimmick, exploring the ramifications of a world that would allow and push for superheroes to be actively terrible while delivering poignant social commentary (especially with Homelander). As grim and bleak as this show can get — and it often gets extremely bleak — "The Boys" also knows when to lean on absurdity for a laugh, whether it's the hilarious terror of The Deep being forced to eat his aquatic friend Timothy, the explicit chaos of Herogasm, the dildo fight in season 3, or everything about Love Sausage.
From the very start, "The Boys" has given us great fight scenes involving the weirdest and most messed up adversaries.

Scarlett Johansson opened up about her involvement in the Jurassic World universe in a new film directed by Gareth Edwards and penned by David Koepp.
The film is set to be a new take with no involvement from the previous Jurassic World cast or the stars of the original Jurassic Park trilogy.
Koepp, who wrote the original screenplay for 1993’s Jurassic Park and the sequel to 1997’s The Lost World: Jurassic Park, returns to the franchise, which thrilled Johansson.
“The script is so incredible,” Johansson said in an interview with ComicBook. “David Koepp wrote it. He returned after like 30 years to write the script. He’s so passionate about it, which is so awesome.”
Johansson said she’s an “enormous Jurassic Park fan,” adding, “It’s one of the first films I remember seeing in the theater. I remember seeing it so vividly. It was like life-changing. It was mind-blowing.

With Natasha Romanov (aka Black Widow) one of the few Marvel characters without superpowers and also – in the current timeline – dead, it would take a miracle for Scarlett Johansson to return to the MCU. But there’s another effects-heavy four-quadrant franchise out there that says “welcome.”
The Tony-winner and two-time Oscar nominee confirmed that she has been cast in the next “Jurassic World” film, which, for now, is just called “Jurassic World 4.”
“I am an enormous ‘Jurassic Park’ fan. It is one of the first movies I remember seeing in theaters. I remember it so vividly. It was life-changing and mind-blowing. I cannot express how excited I am,” she said in an interview with ComicBook.com.
That first movie, of course, was directed by Steven Spielberg in 1993 (when Johansson was 8 years old) with an adapted screenplay penned by David Koepp. As it happens, this new one also boasts a script by Koepp,...

After a couple of far-from-perfect sequels, the Jurassic franchise was rebooted with Jurassic World in 2015. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard were chosen to lead the series, with only one movie set in the newly minted "Jurassic World" theme park before it all came crashing down.
The trilogy, which also included Fallen Kingdom and Dominion, was a financial success for Universal Pictures, with all three instalments grossing over $1 billion each. However, Dominion's takings dropped significantly from its predecessors and reviews were not kind.
Now, the idea is to reboot the series again or at least continue it with a new cast which, so far, includes Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, and - if talks work out - Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali.

Gareth Edwards' new film in the "Jurassic Park/World" series hasn't yet been given an official title, but — according to a report in Variety — may likely be called "Jurassic City." It will be the seventh film to be based on Michael Crichton's 1990 adventure novel.
The new film will be written by longtime blockbuster scribe David Koepp, and is being described as "a completely fresh take launching a new Jurassic era, following three adults and three teens getting stuck on the Island." The Island is presumably Isla Nublar, the fictional Costa Rican island where Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" (1993) took place.
It may be generous to call the story "completely fresh," as "characters trapped on an island with dinosaurs" is also the plot of "Jurassic Park," "The Lost World: Jurassic Park," "Jurassic Park III," and "Jurassic World." Only "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" and "Jurassic World: Dominion" don't take place entirely on a remote,...

Director Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" is a stone-cold masterpiece -- a fantastic adaptation (even if it is vastly different from the book), a stunning achievement in filmmaking, and a revolutionary moment in the history of special effects. Less praised but still fantastic is Spielberg's "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" (which some consider to be the best movie in the franchise). This movie adds to the lore of the series by introducing Isla Sorna and other islands we hear about but never see in the Muertes Archipelago.
Speaking with CinemaBlend, writer David Koepp explained how, during a scene where Jeff Goldblum and the rest of the cast approaches Isla Sorna, their boat stops short of shore. In the final movie, the captain says they don't want to approach the island for rumors of missing boats and dead crewmen. In reality, that was a hard pivot needed when the boat...

The Jurassic Park / Jurassic World franchise is continuing – and it’s doing so without any of the leads from the previous movies. The new film in the series is aiming for a July 2, 2025 theatrical release, and when it reaches the screen, it will be introducing us to a new batch of characters. Those played by Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern are out, as are the ones played by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. So far, we’ve heard that the new Jurassic World movie is set to star Mahershala Ali (Green Book), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Rupert Friend (Anatomy of a Scandal), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), and a bunch of hungry dinosaurs. Now Deadline reveals that the cast is being rounded out with the addition of Luna Blaise.
Blaise is best known for playing Olive Stone on 62 episodes of the TV series Manifest.

We’ve been waiting a few years to see if and when the Marvel Cinematic Universe Blade reboot that’s set to star Mahershala Ali of Green Book is going to go into production – and while we continue to wait, Ali is in talks to join former MCU star Scarlett Johansson in the new Jurassic World movie that’s in the works at Universal! As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Ali tends to be very selective and usually avoids Hollywood blockbuster-type projects (aside from Blade), so getting him to sign on for a role would be a big “get” for this project.
If Ali’s deal closes, he’ll be sharing the screen with Johansson (Black Widow), Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Rupert Friend (Anatomy of a Scandal), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), and a bunch of hungry dinosaurs. This new Jurassic World movie will have Gareth Edwards directing the film from a...

Mahershala Ali, the two-time Oscar winner who was last seen in Netflix’s hit thriller Leave the World Behind, is in talks to join Scarlett Johansson in Universal’s new Jurassic World feature.
Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo are already on the manifest for the project that is stomping toward a production start in mid-June in London with Gareth Edwards in the director’s chair.
The studio is keeping plot details hidden in a can of Barbasol. David Koepp, the original screenwriter of Jurassic Park (1993) and The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), penned the script for the new installment.
Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, who have shepherded the modern Jurassic franchise, will produce through Kennedy/Marshall. Steven Spielberg, who kicked off the franchise with Jurassic Park, is exec producing through Amblin Entertainment.
Universal has set a theatrical release of July 2, 2025, which means it will be hustling like a velociraptor in postproduction.
