  Gordie : [Surprised and shocked]  Dad, they're okay.

  Mr. Lachance : Sure they are. A thief and two feebs?

  Gordie : [Still surprised]  Chris isn't a thief.

  Mr. Lachance : [Raises his eyebrow]  He stole the milk money at school. He's a thief in my book.

  [He exits, and heads back outside. And Gordie watches as he exits]

  Gordie : [Snaps awake and screams] 

  Chris : You? Ok?

  Gordie : Huh?

  Chris : You were dreaming.

  Gordie : [Remains unresponsive and then speaks]  I didn't cry at Denny's funeral.

  Chris : I know.

  Gordie : [Trying to be tough and not cry]  I miss him Chris.

  Chris : I know, go back to sleep.
