TV versions omit the scene in Max's apartment and the fight sequence in the burnt-out town.
The UK cinema version was cut by 37 secs by the BBFC for a PG certificate to remove shots of a soldier unzipping his trousers before raping a woman and cuts to head and groin kicks. The cuts were restored to 15-rated video releases.
West German theatrical version was released uncut with a "Not under 12" rating. However, the VHS release was cut by 1,5 minutes. This version was used for all subsequent VHS and DVD releases. Only in 2014 the uncut version was released on DVD.
