Hollywood’s “what-if” obsessions sometimes hit too close to home. Case in point: America just blacklisted China’s so-called shadow fleet, and it’s giving major flashbacks to that $50M Chris Hemsworth misfire where the U.S. gets invaded by an Asian power.

While this flick didn’t win any awards (or hearts), the premise suddenly feels way less ridiculous. Life’s out here proving that even the most cringey Hollywood scripts can have a weird way of playing out in real time.

Francis Ford Coppola is responsible for half a century of onscreen leading men. The greatest Hollywood actors of the later 20th century, from Al Pacino to Robert De Niro to Robert Duvall? They also got their big break in one of the first two "Godfather" films. That's not to say these actors wouldn't have been stars without Coppola's movies (none of them are exactly one-hit wonders), but the New Hollywood truly put several artists in the right place at the right time to produce classic films.
In 1983, Coppola did it again with "The Outsiders," adapting S.E. Hinton's 1967 coming-of-age novel about several low-class teenage "Greasers" in 1960s Oklahoma. The main ensemble was played by several then up-and-comers, now-stars: Ralph Macchio as the sensitive Johnny Cade, Matt Dillon as wannabe tough guy Dallas "Dally" Winston, and Rob Lowe and Patrick Swayze as brothers Sodapop and Darrel "Darry" Curtis. Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze are forever entrenched in the annals of romance cinema with their roles in Dirty Dancing. However, they would actually couple up a few years earlier in the action thriller Red Dawn in 1984. Grey would recently appear on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast and recount a time they were filming a scene where their characters were supposed to snuggle up in a sleeping bag and become intimate with each other. The chemistry between the two stars in their later provocative hit would resonate with audiences, but their first attempt to make love on screen became so anxiety-induced that Grey said Swayze had started the scene fairly inebriated.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Grey confessed, “We were in this, you know, sleeping bag and he, I guess, was nervous or whatever. And he came into the sleeping bag drunk, and he didn’t know his lines.

After initially starring alongside Patrick Swayze in the 1984 war drama Red Dawn, Jennifer Grey admitted to having no desire to work with Swayze ever again. Having the worst time of her life enduring his pranks and work ethic while sharing the screen for the John Milius’ movie, Grey recalled being hesitant to star alongside him in Dirty Dancing.

One iconic Marvel Comics villain has been wasted on-screen for almost three decades, so I would love to see Marvel Studios' upcoming X-Men reboot finally do him justice in the MCU. 20th Century Fox made many mistakes with its X-Men franchise, which included misusing some of my favorite mutant characters, not introducing many others, and butchering some of Marvel Comics' best mutant-centric storylines. I have a huge amount of hope for the future of the X-Men, however, as I have faith that Marvel Studios will handle the McU's mutants with much more care.
While I imagine this will directly help the most central members of the X-Men team, including the likes of Professor X, Cyclops, Storm and Rogue, I'm also hopeful this will benefit the X-Men's most iconic villains. Fox wasted the likes of Apocalypse, Mister Sinister and Sebastian Shaw's Hellfire Club, but I reckon these villains, and many more,...

Tom Cruise, needless to say, is the true definition of the word superstar. Not only in Hollywood, the man is loved and respected throughout the world. Every year, fans wait impatiently for his films to drop so we can see him in action. Honestly, he makes 60 look like the new 23. Naturally, when he became a father, people believed that his kids would take up after him.

Tom Cruise has three children – Isabella and Connor with Nicole Kidman and Suri with Katie Holmes. While he has reportedly been estranged from Suri, he has a fairly good relationship with his other two children. While Connor Cruise followed his dad’s footsteps for a bit, he has now left the world of glitz and glamour for a quiet life.

This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Star Trek: Lower Decks."
"Star Trek: Lower Decks" season 5, episode 3, "The Best Exotic Nanite Hotel," sees Lieutenant Boimler (Jack Quaid) assigned to a covert, potentially dangerous spy mission. He is to join Commander Ransom (Jerry O'Connell) and Lieutenant Commander Billups (Paul Scheer) on a mission to the Cosmic Duchess, an ultra-swanky, high-end resort-like cruise ship, floating gently through deep space. His assignment is to penetrate deep into the hotel to retrieve Admiral Milius (Toby Huss), a Starfleet officer who has gone Awol thanks to "a touch of vacation madness." The writers of "Lower Decks" missed an opportunity in not saying that he had been infected with Paradise Syndrome.
The Cosmic Duchess, however, is such a massive ship that it incorporates artificial recreations of every possible vacation-ready biome. There's a tropical beach biome, a skiing resort biome, and a water park biome.

Luca Guadagnino and Lionsgate announced that the “Call Me by Your Name” and “Queer” director is in final discussions to film a new version of Bret Eason Ellis’ dark horror novel “American Psycho,” nearly 25 years after the same company released Mary Harron’s satirical adaptation. In a key role that elevated his career, the 2000 film starred Christian Bale as yuppie investment banker-turned-serial killer Patrick Bateman.
It’s the kind of announcement destined to raise eyebrows. Guadagnino is in a career sweet spot after “Challengers” and “Queer” this year (and “After the Hunt” in post); he already has many projects in the works, including “Separate Rooms” with Josh O’Connor and a Thomas Mann adaptation in early development. So why is he choosing a remake — and for a film that doesn’t seem that long ago?
New versions of older films are not unusual. Even the word “remake” is tricky here — does that apply with adaptations?...

The term "icon" is grossly overused when discussing artists and celebrities, but it applies to Clint Eastwood. Between his pivotal role in the popularization of the Spaghetti Western and his revolutionizing of the crime film with his five-film portrayal of "Dirty" Harry Callahan, you could say there wasn't a more important actor throughout the second half of the 20th century and no one who knows the terrain would take issue with your assessment. Eastwood wasn't just an international movie star, he was, for good and ill, an avatar for law and order in America. He played violent men who uncomfortably lived by simple codes. His characters typically "won," but they paid a sometimes terrible price for triumphing. They compromised their values. They placed loved ones in harm's way. They punished themselves for punishing others (or just behaving like a lout). And once upon a time, audiences were in the market...

The creation of a monster In July, 1984 the Motion Picture Association of America created a beast which would destroy the quality of films for decades to come. The beast was a new rating, called PG-13. But before I get into my hatred for this rating, let me explain some history behind the rating as a whole. Before July, 1984, the MPAA had been having problems with their overly broad ratings scale and determining which movies should be rated PG or R. This is illustrated by Stephen Spielberg’s horrifying blockbuster ‘Jaws’ receiving a PG rating when there are quite a few brutal death scenes and brutal shots throughout the film. The MPAA needed some kind of middle ground between what was rated R and what was rated PG. They were receiving too much criticism from parents and others all over the globe who were unhappy with the movie that was shown...

After launching in 2020 as HBO Max, the primary streaming home for Warner Bros. titles, Max changed its name and rebranded in 2023. While the name change also comes with some changes to subscription tiers, Max will still release new hit titles every month, which in October includes yet more highly acclaimed movies and the most anticipated TV shows.

The Friends TV show was perhaps NBC’s one of the most successful series, which went on from 1994 to 2004. The sitcom starred Hollywood’s finest actors as the main cast, but the guest roles also included some big names from the industry. Surprisingly a renowned movie star once freaked out while filming a guest appearance on the show.
Before he landed his role of Charlie Harper on the CBS sitcom, Two and a Half Men in 2003, the actor had a successful career in the movies. Charlie Sheen was well-versed in acting, but in front of a rolling camera, not a live audience. The difference was so huge that when he appeared for a cameo on Friends, he initially could not perform.

The early 80s were a tumultuous period for much of the world. Tensions were high as the Second Cold War continued to play out between the U.S. and the Soviet Union; the ramifications of what would happen if the two nations fell out would be felt across the globe. America had elected Ronald Reagan to the Oval Office, and his passionate rhetoric about the Soviets did little to calm concerns about a possible third World War – which, thanks to nuclear weaponry, wouldn’t be as much a war as a worldwide holocaust. So yeah, it was a bit of a nerve-jangling time to be alive, but thankfully we still had the movies to chill us out.

The minute Mola Ram (Amrish Puri) sunk his digits into the chest of one very unfortunate Thuggee cultist and extracted his still-beating heart for his followers -- and moviegoers all over the world -- to see, the Motion Picture Association of America (now the Motion Picture Association) finally had to admit it had a ratings problem on its hands.
This horrific scene arrives halfway through Steven Spielberg's "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom," the kickoff film of the 1984 summer movie season, and as the sequel to 1981's box office champ "Raiders of the Lost Ark," easily the year's most anticipated release. Like its predecessor, it was sold as an all-ages adventure, which the MPA certified with a PG rating. For 12 years, PG suggested "Parental Guidance," though most parents treated the rating as a guarantee they could drop off their kids at the theater secure in the knowledge there would be no f-bombs,...

During the summer of 1984, parental outrage over the unexpected gore and graphic violence in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” and “Gremlins” led to a ratings change by the Motion Picture Association of America. Encouraged by Steven Spielberg, director of “Temple of Doom” and producer of “Gremlins,” on July 1, 1984, the MPAA introduced the “PG-13” rating, indicating that “parents are strongly cautioned to give special guidance to children under 13.” A few weeks later, on August 10, 1984, “Red Dawn” became the first American film released with the new rating. Although it got mixed reviews upon its debut, it has become a cult classic both for featuring a group of young actors who went on to become some of the biggest stars of the decade, and for its themes that are reminders of the real fear Americans felt over the Cold War. Read on for more about the “Red Dawn” 40th anniversary.

Patrick Swayze was one of a kind. He’s the only actor I can think of who was as comfortable cutting a rug on the dance floor as demolishing a room full of bad guys with his fists of fury. When he passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2009, we lost an icon who was never really recognized as the legend he is in his time. In the years since many Patrick Swayze movies have become cult favourites, and with a Road House remake recently a hit, we decided now would be a good time to pick the five best Patrick Swayze movies.
Red Dawn (1984)
John Millius’s cold war “what if” thriller goes down in the history books as the first-ever PG-13 movie. It was also Patrick Swayze’s first major leading role, with him best known up to this point for a supporting role in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Outsiders.

Charlie Sheen rose to prominence in the 80s with successful films such as Platoon, Red Dawn, Wall Street, and Eight Men Out. The actor proved that he had the dramatic chops that elevated the material he was given. By the time the 2000s rolled in, he started appearing in comedic roles, replacing Michael J. Fox as the lead of Spin City.

The actor then went on to star in the beloved sitcom Two and a Half Men and played his iconic role, Charlie Harper. After appearing in 8 seasons, Sheen was fired from the show after he made disparaging remarks regarding the show’s producer Chuck Lorre in 2011. The actor had a wild condition for his return when Lorre approached him to appear in the series finale.

Stallone. Schwarzenegger. Jcvd. Seagal. Snipes. Gibson. These were the legends of eighties and nineties action cinema, but let me tell you something, folks, back in the 80s, there was one guy who was just as big as any of them, and his name was Chuck Norris. Nowadays, the martial arts champion’s movies don’t get quite as much play as those of the other guys I mentioned, probably because Norris never really made an A-level studio film, with him mostly toiling in elevated B-movies throughout the decade. But, some of them were really a lot of fun, as we’re going to dig into one of the most over-the-top and explosive ones of them all – Invasion U.S.A.
Cut back to the year 1984. After years of making lower-budget action films, Norris’s career started to hit its stride. In 1983, Lone Wolf McQuade brought him to the attention of Menahem Golan,...

Douglass Fake, founder of leading movie soundtrack label Intrada and producer of more than 700 albums of movie and TV music, died Saturday at a Richmond, Calif., hospital after a long illness. He was 72.
Fake’s many credits include the first complete restoration of Leonard Bernstein’s “On the Waterfront,” a lavish 5-cd release of Elmer Bernstein’s “The Ten Commandments” and the debut of several Henry Mancini scores including “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” previously only available in abridged pop recordings.
Among the label’s best sellers were expansions of previously incomplete recordings of such classics as John Williams’ “Jaws,” Alan Silvestri’s “Back to the Future” and Jerry Goldsmith’s “Alien.” Fake also supervised the re-recording of a dozen albums of classic film music including Bernard Herrmann’s “The Man Who Knew Too Much” and Miklos Rozsa’s “Ivanhoe,” “Spellbound” and “Julius Caesar.”

Two and a Half Men witnessed one of its most complicated moments when Charlie Sheen was fired from the show. Despite being a hit show on television, the Chuck Lorre sitcom faced a major hurdle when Sheen launched a public tirade against the creator. Some of his words towards the revered hitmaker were so disrespectful that fans still find it difficult to forgive the star.

Charlie Sheen’s stardom catapulted to another level after he starred alongside Jon Cryer in Two and a Half Men. However, the actor’s success on the show was short-lived as substance abuse problems and other personal issues took over him. He was eventually fired from the show after making problematic comments against the show’s creator Chuck Lorre.

Two and a Half Men, starring Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer became one of the most popular sitcoms after it impressed the audience with a unique narrative and humor. Another primary reason behind the show’s standout hit was its co-creator, Chuck Lorre.
Being the mastermind of several critically acclaimed shows like The Big Bang Theory and Cybill, Lorre is hailed as the undisputed legend of sitcoms. While the audience could also feel Chuck Lorre’s magic in Two and a Half Men, the co-creator almost left the show midway due to Sheen.

Besides all the positive elements of the show, Two and a Half Men also raised several headlines due to Charlie Sheen’s numerous controversies. However, all hell broke loose when Sheen was embroiled in a feud against Lorre which almost convinced the latter to leave the show.

If you’re going to set your movie somewhere in the intersection of two worlds fraught with danger — say, bull-riding competitions and hardcore crime — it’s always a good idea to cast actors who look and sound comfortable, and credible, in both places. There are quite a few things to admire in “Ride,” director Jake Allyn’s suspenseful drama about a rodeo family driven to extremes while trying to pay their young daughter’s medical bills. But the first thing that sticks out is how much verisimilitude lead players C. Thomas Howell and Forrie J. Smith bring to the table. If you look at their backgrounds, that shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Howell may still be best remembered by fans for his roles in Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Outsiders” (“Look! It’s Ponyboy!”) and John Milius’ “Red Dawn.” But in addition to the scads of other movie and TV credits on his resume,...

Since the mid-80s, the PG rating has been mostly exclusive to films aimed at kids, and even though there have been releases that pushed its boundaries, they’re few and far between. However, for a long time, this wasn’t the case, as before the PG-13 rating was introduced, films were either rated PG or R, with the latter only being reserved for extreme cases, such as Evil Dead.
This flawed system would finally undergo a massive change, thanks to Steven Spielberg and his blockbusters, especially Gremlins, which too earned a PG rating upon its release. But had the creators stuck to the initial draft of Chris Columbus, the horror would’ve definitely been given the same treatment as that of Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead.

Back to the Future star Lea Thompson stated that her mainstream film career ended after she had her kids. Thompson was a rising star through the 1980s but she was pushed to TV roles in the ’90s. Thompson found success in her role as Lorraine McFly in Robert Zemeckis’ three-part time travel flick. Before that, she was Tom Cruise’s pair in the 1983 film, All the Right Moves.

Hollywood has revisited several successful 80s action movies, but few have been remade successfully so far. Some of the most successful 80s action movie remakes have revisited previously unsuccessful projects In total, only eight 80s action movies have been remade as films
As one of the most iconic decades in the genre's history, it's unsurprising that multiple 80s action movies have been remade over the years. Hollywood's emphasis on lucrative IPs means that revisiting successful originals from any genre is a popular strategy for a studio. However, even though the 1980s were responsible for some of the greatest action movies of all time, and several proposed remakes are in the pipeline, surprisingly few 80s action films have actually been remade.
Although some popular transmedia 80s action franchises have been reimagined with various degrees of success (such as 21 Jump Street and Lethal Weapon), there are currently only eight cinematic remakes of pre-existing 80s action films.

The late, great, Patrick Swayze was taken from us far too soon, but left behind a legacy of phenomenal films, performances, and characters to hold near and dear. Before pivoting into a full-time acting career, Swayze was trained in ballet, ice skating, martial arts, and football. Pairing this with his dazzling good looks and acting prowess allowed him to thrive in a variety of film genres, playing fast-dancing heartthrobs and action hunks in equal measure. He had his professional breakthrough as a dancer with the Disney Theatrical Group before taking on the replacement role of Danny Zuko in a Broadway production of "Grease." This put him on the radar of Hollywood, and he made his film debut as Ace in the 1979 film "Skatetown, U.S.A."
But when the 1980s came calling, Swayze exploded in popularity and became a household name. While he certainly hit his peak when I was just a child,...

Four Patrick Swayze movies have been remade Some, such as Point Break (2015), take a misguided approach to beloved classics. Others, such as Road House (2024), arguably improve upon the original
Although Patrick Swayze starred in some of the 80s and 90s most iconic action, drama, and romance movies, remakes of the actor's many hits haven't always lived up to expectations. In a career that spanned four decades, Swayze featured in more than 30 films, as well as many more television shows and specials. Given this record, it's understandable that some of his more iconic projects have been revisited over the years – irrespective of the success the reboots have enjoyed. However, while many of Swayze's movies explore themes that warrant further exploration, some remakes have been better than others.

2024's Road House breaks the curse of bad '80s action movie remakes by adding humor and its own style. Earlier remakes like Red Dawn and Robocop failed due to lack of humor and the use of a unique directorial style. Road House's success can serve as a blueprint for future '80s action movie remakes, emphasizing impactful action and light-hearted treatment.
Although 2024's Road House isn’t perfect, it is the first ‘80s action movie remake to end one terrible trend. Hollywood loves remaking classic movies, but that doesn't mean that audiences and critics want to see the many re-imaginings that the studio system offers. That’s why 2024’s Road House remake was such a pleasant surprise that the modern redo of Patrick Swayze’s iconic 1989 action movie turned out to be a fun, self-aware thrill ride with its own style and storyline. Living in a country where people's basic human rights are being stripped down or removed on a regular basis, where hate and prejudice are alive and well, where violence can erupt at any moment in almost any location — it feels increasingly strange to call being an American a privileged and lucky thing, but the fact remains that it is. In comparison to the many war-torn countries that have suffered open conflict in their streets at various points in time, Americans haven't had to endure the horror of invasion, occupation, or open warfare as a way of life for many generations, basically since the American Civil War of the 1860s.
This is not to say that Americans are ignorant, but rather especially privileged. Being a part of a country that has generally maintained political, cultural, and military dominance over the world for the last century, America's more thoughtful cinema in relation...

Upcoming Sequel To $214 Million Patrick Swayze Movie Can Finally Redeem 1 Trend Broken By Road House
![Image](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BODgwMmE2OTEtMjg4MS00ZGJhLWI3YzctODZlMDA0MmNmOGM2XkEyXkFqcGc@._V1_QL75_UY281_CR31,0,500,281_.jpg)
Otis Redding's romantic soul ballad "These Arms of Mine" plays during Patrick Swayze's love scenes in both Road House (1989) and Dirty Dancing (1987). The 2024 Road House remake excluded "These Arms of Mine," which only compounded the 2017 Dirty Dancing remake's failure to continue this Swayze movie trend as well. The 2025 Dirty Dancing legacy sequel can somewhat restore this trend if "These Arms of Mine" plays during a love scene, which would make up for these previously missed opportunities.
The 2024 Road House remake failed to continue one Patrick Swayze movie trend, but the upcoming sequel to his $214 million smash hit can correct this. When the remakes of 1984's Red Dawn and 1991's Point Break both bombed, it suggested that remakes of Patrick Swayze movies might be cursed. Thankfully, 2024's Road House destroyed this Patrick Swayze remake trend by proving to be a successful adaptation of the 1989 movie. One...

Patrick Swayze's diverse filmography showcases his transformative acting skills across genres, leaving behind a lasting legacy in Hollywood. Swayze's cult classics like Red Dawn and To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar continue to resonate with audiences. From action-packed films like Point Break to iconic roles in Dirty Dancing and Ghost, Swayze's talent and charm made him a true movie star.
Patrick Swayze was one of the defining stars of the '80s and '90s, starring in several movies and TV shows. Although his career was sadly cut short when he passed away in 2009, he left behind a legacy of both critically acclaimed films and cult classics. Swayze made his screen debut in 1979 and rose to fame soon after. Amazon's successful remake of Road House sets a promising precedent for upcoming remakes of Patrick Swayze's other iconic '80s and '90s films. The critical improvement and record-breaking streaming viewership of the 2024 Road House remake show that modern reimaginings of Swayze movies can work. The positive reviews for Road House make the prospects for the upcoming remake of Patrick Swayze's Ghost more optimistic.
Amazon’s remake of Road House has proven to be a big streaming hit, which is great news for another upcoming remake of a classic Patrick Swayze movie. While Road House isn’t the first remake of a Patrick Swayze movie, the Jake Gyllenhaal-starring action flick is the first one to have better reviews than the original. While the 1989 Patrick Swayze-starring Road House movie is a cult classic, it didn’t land too well with critics, holding a 43% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Meanwhile, the...

Road House 2024 successfully breaks the streak of failed Patrick Swayze remakes, proving its worth with critics and audiences alike. The remake offers a fresh take on the original, with a new lead character and a more entertaining, polished action-packed plot. With the success of Road House 2024, future Swayze remakes like Ghost and Dirty Dancing sequels have a promising road ahead.
The fact that Road House’s remake succeeded with critics means that the long streak of failed Patrick Swayze remakes has come to an end. 2024’s Road House remake is a crowd-pleasing action thriller by director Doug Liman. Pitting Jake Gyllenhaal’s tough bouncer against Conor McGregor’s unhinged crime boss, the slick remake of Patrick Swayze’s 1989 star vehicle is bruising, brutal, and just silly enough to be entertaining without sacrificing the story’s stakes. This is quite an achievement considering earlier attempts to remake Swayze’s hits proved disastrous,...

When film fans talk about great on-screen chemistry, one of the first pairings that comes to mind for me is Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey in the now-classic, "Dirty Dancing." As Johnny Castle and Frances "Baby" Houseman, the duo are practically radiating with charisma and it's impossible not to fall in love with them throughout the film. It's also a huge testament to their acting abilities, as the pair famously butted heads throughout the production of "Red Dawn," a film they appeared in together three years prior.
"Patrick was playing pranks on me and everybody," Grey said during an episode of "The View" in 2022. "[He was] late and the boss of everybody and it was just, like, macho and I just couldn't take it. I was just like, 'Please, this guy, that's enough with him.'" Grey was the first of the duo cast, and for a time it looked like Billy Zane,...

During 20th Century Fox’s run and control of specific Marvel properties, many “X-Men” projects never got made. Some of those included Channing Tatum’s “Gambit,” a James Franco-led “Multiple Man” project, a solo “X-23” pic from “Logan” director James Mangold, an R-rated “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” written by “Game of Thrones” co-showrunner David Benioff, and even two different takes on “X-Force” from director Jeff Wadlow (“Kick-Ass 2”).

Previous attempts at remaking Patrick Swayze movies have failed, with Point Break, Red Dawn, and Dirty Dancing all falling flat. Jake Gyllenhaal's version of Dalton in the Road House remake may be a departure from Swayze's stoic character, aimed at avoiding direct comparison. Gyllenhaal's portrayal, along with director Doug Liman's skill with action comedies, may offer a fresh take that could break the streak of Swayze remake failures.
While Road House looks like it could prove a big hit, Jake Gyllenhaal’s upcoming remake will need to upend a dispiriting trend to succeed. 1989’s Road House was a massive success upon release, earning over $60 million on a budget of only $15 million. However, few movies were able to replicate the Patrick Swayze vehicle’s success. Although Road House boasted a very simple story setup, Swayze’s unique charm seemed central to its allure. The action genre became popular during the '80s, which led to cult hits like Cobra, Red Dawn, and Road House. Classic '80s action flicks turned into cult classics like Highlander, The Lost Boys, and The Goonies. Cult status was achieved by '80s action films like Bloodsport, Flash Gordon, and Repo Man due to critical acclaim.

Remakes have always been and will always be a tricky proposition. You could have something as pure and wonderful as 1982’s The Thing, which is objectively better than the revered Howard Hawks and Christian Nyby version, but be trapped in purgatory for way too long before it is decided that its proper and loved. There’s a bunch that are better in different ways or at least thoroughly enjoyable in their own right like John Carpenter’s masterpiece, Philip Kaufman’s Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and of course David Cronenberg’s The Fly. While you can argue the horror vs sci fi merits of any of these movies, their quality can’t be disputed. When it comes down to what you can or can’t remake, I think the gloves are off at this point. There’s very few sacred cows left and sometimes a remake can help. Something...

Matthew Vaughn's upcoming action film starring Chris Hemsworth and Sam Rockwell could potentially break Hemsworth's personal box office record, working on a non-franchise film. Hemsworth's highest-grossing film domestically that isn't tied to a big-name franchise is 12 Strong, which earned $45 million in the US. This collaboration could surpass that number. At the worldwide box office, Hemsworth's non-franchise films have never broken $100 million. This project presents an opportunity for him to finally achieve that milestone.
