By the time most movies hit the theaters for fans to enjoy, they have had a number of hands involved making cuts that try to make everyone happy with the finished film, including the director, the producers, the studios, and of course, the audience. There is the original script, variations of different scenes can be filmed, and scenes can also be reordered during filming alongside other script changes. During editing, even more changes occur. Horror movies seem to deal with this a lot as it's hard to please the wide variety of horror fans, especially with too many cooks in the kitchen.
Directors have their own vision of the movie, but studios and producers can sometimes request drastic changes, and screenings and focus groups can demonstrate whether or not audiences even connect with a film. All these various contributing factors can sometimes cause issues that can lead to incredibly different...

Bertrand Bonello with Anne-Katrin Titze on Romy Schneider’s face in Coma, the camera test by Henri-Georges Clouzot for his unfinished film L’enfer (Inferno): “I was trying to find an image that you could dream of when you’re a young girl.”
Bertrand Bonello’s prophetic Coma (with a haunting score by the director/screenwriter), starring Louise Labèque (of Zombi Child) as the adolescent and Julia Faure as the title character Patricia Coma, was filmed in France during the Covid pandemic lockdown. We hear the voices of Gaspard Ulliel (Yves Saint Laurent in Bonello’s Saint Laurent), Anaïs Demoustier, Laetitia Casta, Louis Garrel, and Vincent Lacoste as the dollhouse figures. We see Romy Schneider’s face in a camera test for Henri-Georges Clouzot’s unfinished Inferno (L’Enfer) and meet a woman in the forest portrayed by Bonnie Banane.

Fans may not be aware of unofficial sequels to popular movies, typically produced by smaller studios, which introduce new characters and scenarios. These unofficial sequels are often of poorer quality but can still be fun to watch for some fans. Examples include unofficial sequels to Alien, Dawn of the Dead, Goodfellas, Night of the Living Dead, and Planet of the Apes.
Movie fans are often unaware of the existence of unofficial movie sequels that are produced without the creators of the original on board. Completely separate, smaller studios have produced off-beat sequels to some of the biggest sci-fi and fantasy movies ever. It is not uncommon for these sequels to introduce completely new characters in a setting that only resembles that of the preceding movie in the most basic ways. The fewer elements that strictly belong to someone else's story there are, the less likely the moviemakers are to be sued for copyright infringement.

Standalone sequels exist because some series want to try something different or make a quick buck, resulting in varying quality. Films like Son of the Mask and I Spit on Your Grave 2 are terrible and unrelated to their successful predecessors. The Suicide Squad and 10 Cloverfield Lane are tonally different from their predecessors, offering a more enjoyable and suitable experience.
A sequel, by definition, is a direct follow-up to another movie, but some sequels have little or no relation to their predecessors. They're called standalone sequels, and a surprisingly high number of them exist. Sometimes, it's simply because the series wants to veer off and try something new — perhaps to start an anthology series. However, in other cases, it's because putting a "2" after the original's title is an easy way to capitalize on the first film's success.
Therefore, the quality of sequels that don't connect to their original movies varies greatly.

Bad horror movies can unintentionally become hilarious due to bad special effects, ludicrous premises, and hammy acting. They can rival the best comedies. Some horror films that failed to scare audiences upon release later gained a cult following for their unintentional comedy. Films like "Zombi 3" and "Night of the Lepus" are particularly funny due to terrible makeup, inexplicable plotting, and non-scary creatures.
This article contains a mention of suicide in relation to a horror movie premise.
Horror is one of the most fun genres around, but it's also something that can go very wrong if the people producing it don't know what they're doing. Unlike a bad drama or a bad comedy, a bad horror movie is far more likely to inadvertently end up being completely and utterly laughable for the audience. Sales of cassette tapes are at their highest levels in 20 years.
The surge has been driven by high-selling releases from bands such as the Arctic Monkeys, and pop star Harry Styles.
According to new research from The British Phonographic Industry, sales of cassette tapes have risen for 10 consecutive years.
In 2012, the total number of cassette sales was just 3,823. In 2022, the annual figure had risen to 195,000.
However, cassette sales still lag far behind other formats, including vinyl records.
Also among the biggest selling cassette artists was Florence + the Machine. The best-selling cassette album of the year was The Car by Arctic Monkeys, released in October. Harry’s House by Styles followed in second place, while Florence + the Machine’s Dance Fever came in third.
Other artists to make the top 10 include Muse, Central Cee, Robbie Willimas, Blackpink, and Machine Gun Kelly.

Fear the Walking Dead showrunner Andrew Chambliss explained Morgan was immune in The Walking Dead because of luck. Since his introduction in the first episode of The Walking Dead, Lennie James' Morgan has had quite the journey. He experienced traumatic events and losses but appeared to severely suffer from Ptsd and delusions because of it. He proved to be a bit of a wild card, going from being on the brink of insanity to living with a peaceful and anti-violence philosophy, only to snap back into a cold-blooded killer. Twd's Season 8's final battle led Morgan to step away from the group and go off on his own journey of healing.
Morgan crossed over to Fear the Walking Dead and has been a recurring character on Fear the Walking Dead since his transition onto the series in season 4. The premiere episode of season 6 followed a season 5 cliffhanger that questioned Morgan's...

No matter the weather, it’s always the perfect Time of the Season for The Zombies. Their new album is called Different Game, and everyone plays like they were dealt a perfect hand. But it’s the fingers of founding keyboardist Rod Argent, drummer Steve Rodford, guitarist Tom Toomey, bassist Søren Koch, and the throat of original lead singer Colin Blunstone that propel the music.

The dead simply won’t stay dead, and to be honest, they have outstayed their welcome. Zombie media has always been a hot commodity, no matter the era in which it is being released. And despite their prestige and countless examples of well-executed undead media, to say we are inundated with ghoulish content feels like an understatement
.Sure, the hits will always stick out: Dawn of the Dead, Left 4 Dead, The Walking Dead, World War Z, and on and on and on the list goes. So given the overabundance of zombie media, it’s easy to understand why games such as ZombiU (aka Zombi) are somewhat forgotten over time.

Although "The Walking Dead" has now come to an end after 11 seasons, the world of the show is still going strong. With several planned spinoffs involving fan-favorite characters like Rick, Michonne, Daryl, Maggie, and Negan, there's still a lot of walking ahead.
"The Walking Dead" has helped to keep zombies alive (so to speak) half a century after George Romero defined the modern zombie genre with 1968's "Night of the Living Dead." And yet, an interesting quirk of the universe created by Robert Kirkman is the surprising absence of the word "zombie." Although the term is synonymous with "The Walking Dead" at this point, it's never spoken by any of the characters. In keeping with the show's name, zombies in the show are always referred to as "walkers," among other nicknames such as "biters" and "infected."
The word's omission is intentional. Zombies have been such a relevant part of the...

In a clear attempt to compete with Xbox Game Pass, Sony has introduced the new PlayStation Plus. This new version of the subscription gives players a large catalog of games to download and play both old and quite recent. There are plenty of iconic games as well as classics, but there are also some underrated gems.
Across PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium, Sony has given fans a chance to play games that either went under the radar or quickly left the spotlight after their initial success. Some of which PlayStation owners have not been able to play again without the consoles they original debuted on.

AFI Fest 2022 announced the three winners of this year’s short film Jury awards on Nov. 7, spotlighting the live action short “Birds,” the documentary short “Haulout” and the animated short “Sierra” for creating art that can “bring people together,” AFI president and CEO Bob Gazzale said.
“Birds,” directed by Katherine Propper, is a 14-minute narrative that follows the lives of teenagers in Austin, Texas through summer boredom. Directors Evgenia Arbugaeva and Maxim Arbugaev’s “Haulout” features Maxim Chakilev, a man who waits in the Russian Arctic to observe an ancient gathering. “Sierra,” directed by Sander Joon, is a black comedy that uses car racing as the literal vehicle to discuss themes of toxic masculinity, which the jury dubbed “simple in subject but deep in content.”
Special mentions include “Yokelan” for ensemble acting, “How To Be A Person: How To Get An Abortion” for screenwriting, “An Avocado Pit (Um Caroço de Abacate)” for lead acting,...

Marvel and DC Comics have been rivals ever since before the superhero movie boom took off. With each having its own roster of famous pop culture characters that help shape young generations, every medium seems to have the two companies butt heads. At the premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige walked the purple carpet and was asked about the very recent news of comic book movie darling, James Gunn, getting the new position of overseeing projects as the new head over at DC Films.
It’s almost like a comic book story in itself; former friends and professional peers one day have one of them break off and join the opponent’s faction. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed Feige’s feelings on the matter, and in an age of fierce competition, Feige is very supportive of his friend.

The entertainment world was dealt a pretty impressive and impactful curveball recently when it was revealed that DC has a new boss. James Gunn, director of "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "The Suicide Squad," and mega-producer Peter Safran, who worked with Gunn on "The Suicide Squad" and "Peacemaker," as well as helping to develop "The Conjuring" universe, are now steering the ship. Gunn and Safran are officially co-chairmen and chief executive officers of DC Studios.
Up until the appointment of Gunn and Safran, Warner Bros. Discovery had been using the name DC Films as its banner for all things connected to the universe containing Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and literally thousands of other characters. DC Films was created in 2016 shortly after the release of director Zack Snyder's divisive "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." So, in many ways, that represented the so-called Snyderverse era that we all took to calling the Dceu.

Not every filmmaker can brag that they invented a whole new genre, but George Romero could. When you think of a zombie movie, a certain set-up assuredly comes to mind: a horde of ravenous undead who can only be killed with a bullet to the brain chasing after a small group of misfits making it through the remnants of society. This set-up originates with George Romero's "Night of the Living Dead." Subsequent zombie media all go back to Romero's filmography, whether they're remaking it (Zack Snyder's "Dawn of the Dead"), homaging it ("The Walking Dead" comics/TV series), or parodying it ("Shaun of the Dead" and "Return of the Living Dead").
Romero continued to make zombie films throughout his life, but even so, he didn't regurgitate himself. His films had a satirical edge his successors often lack and his zombies were always a flexible metaphor. In "Night of the Living Dead,...

Director Guillermo del Toro showed up at the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday to lead a wide-ranging conversation with directors including Paolo Sorrentino, Claude Lelouch, Costa-Gavras, Michel Hazanavicius and Gaspar Noe, and he sounded the alarm from his opening comments that the film business was dramatically changing in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and the rise of streaming services over movie theaters.
“What we have right now is unsustainable,” del Toro said at the beginning of the “Filmmaking: What Now?” symposium, a two-day event to mark the 75th Cannes. “In so many ways, what we have belongs to an older structure. Whether we want it to or not, the future will show up.”

Not quite a musical, sort of a folktale, and almost but not entirely a hardscrabble hunk of post-war realism before all of a sudden changing gears, “Scarlet” – which opened the 2022 Cannes Film Festival’s Directors’ Fortnight sidebar on Wednesday – is a tricky project to pin down. Of course, director Pietro Marcello wouldn’t have it any other way.
Shooting in French for the first time, the Italian filmmaker made his name with documentaries before working found and historical footage into the world of make-believe with 2019’s “Martin Eden.” With this more ambitious (if more uneven) follow-up, Marcello continues at a similar pace, folding fact into fiction as he explores both the landscapes of rural Normandy in the aftermath of the First World War and the plight of the working poor, all through the crags of his leading man’s brow.

“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” is finally here.

(Or is it Marvel Cinematic Multiverse?) With returning characters like Wong (Benedict Wong), Christine (Rachel McAdams) and Wanda Maximoff aka the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and new characters like America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), this is a big movie with big surprises and big stakes. And, of course, a big ending.
But what does the conclusion of “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” mean, exactly, for the character, and for the rest of the MCU? Read on to find out!

It has just been announced that in The Winchesters, Meg Donnelly and Drake Rodger (The Kissing Booth) will play Mary Campbell and John Winchester, the younger versions of Sam and Dean’s folks played by Samantha Smith and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Meg Donnelly (Photo: Michael Ostuni/Patrick McMullan via Getty Images) The character breakdowns from the network explain how the pair came to be. According to CW, 19-year-old Mary Campbell “has been fighting the forces of darkness since she was a child. Once the character of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) was introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016 with his Scott Derrickson-directed solo movie, it was only a matter of time before exploring the multiverse became the next big focal point in the franchise. Arguably, another superhero movie in a completely different franchise altogether beat Marvel to the punch — 2018's "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," which went a long way toward making general audiences familiar with the "rules" of this gloriously comic-booky concept. The next year, "Avengers: Endgame" leaned further into the multiverse and the 2021 Disney+ series "Loki" doubled down even more, throwing important...

Disney+ Day has laid out one spectacular slate of Marvel content for fans to get excited about including two newly-announced animated additions, Spider-Man: Freshman Year and Marvel Zombies. While the platform’s “Marvel Studios’ 2021 Disney+ Day Special” teased plenty of new content ranging from first looks for Moon Knight and She/Hulk to Ms. Marvel. But info on Spider-Man: Freshman Year and Marvel Zombies were sparse. (Credit: Marvel Studios/Disney+) According to the loglines shared by Disney, Spider-Man: Freshman Year follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man in the MCU, with a journey unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots. Considering Peter Parker’s role in the MCU so far, it sounds as though the series will fill in the gap of time from the point in which he made his superhero transformation to when he met Tony...

The X-Men are back — just not in live action.
Marvel Studios announced on Friday that the company is expanding its slate of animated series for Disney Plus with three new shows: “X-Men ’97,” “Spider-Man: Freshman Year,” and “Marvel Zombies.”
After Disney purchased 20th Century Fox in 2019, and the “X-Men” movie franchise was on its last legs with the poorly received “Dark Phoenix” and “The New Mutants,” many observers expected Marvel Studios to reboot the X-Men and reintegrate the characters back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Instead, for its first swing at the team of powerful mutant superheroes, the company is reaching back to its own origin story: “X-Men ’97” will be a continuation of the beloved 1990s “X-Men” animated series that ran for five seasons on the Fox network from 1992 through 1997.
