Logan’s daughter Mary Grace Logan confirmed his death on Instagram, where she wrote that her father changed the movie industry “before CGI ruled the screen.”
He was one of the “visionaries who lit the future by hand,” Mary Grace continued. “From ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ to ‘Tron,’ my dad didn’t just work on movies—he made magic. A rebel with a camera, a pioneer with a story, and my personal hero.”
“I’m so proud to be your daughter and to honor your life and legacy. Daddy—aka Bruce Logan, ASC—was a visionary cinematographer, director, and visual effects pioneer whose artistry illuminated films like ‘Star Wars,’ ‘Tron,’ and ‘2001: A Space Odyssey.'”
“But beyond your remarkable career, you were my dad.

As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, Disney's 20th anniversary re-release of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith could score a box office upset in North America this weekend.
The movie earned $3.4 million from Thursday previews, and with $20 million in presales, it may open between $27 million - $30 million. Should it meet those expectations, then it stands a chance of debuting at #1, topping Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal's The Accountant 2. That made $2.5 million yesterday and should land in the low-to-mid $20 million range.
It's a little too soon for full weekend estimates, but Sinners is holding up well and has the potential to earn north of $30 million. If so, then it will likely take the top spot. However, even #2 would be a huge win for Disney, seeing as this is just a re-release.
Video game adaptation Until Dawn is eyeing a $8 million - $9 million start. That may sound low, but...

With spoilers, we look at how Andor season 2 brings a thematic depth to Star Wars that makes its flaws easier to overlook.
Nb: The following contains spoilers for Andor season 2 episodes 1 to 3.
For all the eloquent dialogue about rebellion and self-sacrifice, it’s the simplest images that stick in the memory: a Tie Fighter’s guns turned on the Empire that created it might be one of the single most satisfying sights we’ve had from Star Wars in years.
Yes, Andor’s back for a second season, and looking at the largely rapturous online response, it satisfies an audience hunger for a Star Wars story that does more than cosset its viewers in fantasy and nostalgia. Once again, showrunner Tony Gilroy brings a historian’s eye to the story of the Rebel Alliance versus the Empire, exploring both the cogs behind the fascistic war machine and how a disparate...

George Lucas’ Star Wars, the galactic saga, has evolved into a sprawling franchise with multiple movies and shows and many more to come. Yet Andor has carved out a unique space within the universe, and for good reason. And it outdid itself with the recently released Season 2, as it delves into the darkest corners of the Star Wars saga.
The series recently released the first three episodes of its second and final season, with the third in particular tackling gut-wrenching, real-world issues, subjects that franchise creator George Lucas may never have envisioned for his galaxy far, far away.

Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) spends most of the first two episodes of “Andor” Season 2 held prisoner by the few remaining, feuding members of a destroyed rebel faction known as the Maya Pei Brigade. After successfully stealing an Imperial ship, he arrives at his rendezvous point only to find the other rebel he was supposed to meet gone and replaced by the Maya Pei fighters. Cassian is forced to sit, handcuffed, and wait for the perfect moment to capitalize on his captors’ increasingly hostile, divided feelings toward each other.
That moment comes at the end of “Andor” Season 2, Episode 2 when Cassian escapes and flies away on his Imperial ship while the remnants of the Maya Pei Brigade fight each other, along with some monstrous creatures that ambushed and ate some of their members. As Cassian flies away, viewers get their first real look at the moon he had been trapped on all along.

As the “Star Wars” timeline gets more and more prequels and sequels tacked on, it can be confusing where everything falls – including “Andor” Season 2.
Films and shows in the Star Wars universe take place anywhere from hundreds of years before the prequel trilogy to decades after the original trilogy. “Andor” falls somewhere in the middle and manages to be both deeply connected to the events of the classic films and to feel wholly original.
Here is just where “Andor” Season 2 falls in the timeline – which is both simple and a bit more complicated.
When does “Andor” Season 2 take place in the timeline?
The easy answer to this question is: Season 2 takes place between “Andor” Season 1 and the film “Rogue One.”
The broader answer is that the second season of the Disney+ show takes place over the course of four years – ranging from 4 Bby to 1 Bby (Bby standing for Before the...

This article contains spoilers for "Andor" season 2, episode 1.
"Andor" season 2 brings the revolution back to "Star Wars," and to do so, it needs a formidable force of dictatorial bureaucracy to oppose. Fortunately, the series brings in the perfect guy for the job in the very first episode: Ben Mendelsohn's Director Orson Callan Krennic is back, and "Andor" will never be the same.
From the very first moment the Imperial director begins his big meeting scene, it's clear that major season 1 antagonists Dedra Meero (Denise Gough) and Lio Partagaz (Anton Lesser) defer to him. Partagaz even later helpfully lampshades this, in case the viewer missed the many cues of how far lower in the pecking order the Imperial Security Bureau officer is compared to Krennic.
"Star Wars" fans who remember "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" know what the fuss around the white-clad director is all about. However, the character's...

Andor might not have any Jedi Knight characters, but the Force is strong with the new season of the Star Wars prequel series nonetheless.

Hayden Christensen is set to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker, aka Darth Vader, in Ahsoka Season 2, but his future in the Star Warsuniverse may extend far past the Rosario Dawson-led Disney+ series. The actor has appeared as the iconic villain in several projects since Revenge of the Sith, including the six-part limited series that saw him reunite with Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, Christensen has now teased that more might be in store for his legacy-defining role in the galaxy far, far away.
During an interview with ComicBook.com, Christensen shared his perspective on continuing his journey as Darth Vader post-Revenge of the Sith. Despite his recent appearances in the role, the Star Wars icon feels as if there is still plenty to explore about the character during that era. Could a long-awaited Darth Vader solo film materialize? It's unclear, but it seems Christensen is more than ready...

Hayden Christensen is excited about the future of Darth Vader. He recently shared some interesting news at Star Wars Celebration Japan. As we approach the 20th anniversary of Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Christensen confirmed that Anakin will return in Ahsoka Season 2.
“There’s not much that I can share, but Anakin will be back for season 2,” Christensen said during a panel. He last appeared in Season 1 of Ahsoka, where he showed up as a Force ghost in the mystical World Between Worlds. This moment was an emotional reunion between Anakin and his former student Ahsoka Tano (played by Rosario Dawson), taking place five years after his redemption and death in Return of the Jedi.
While fans are eager to see what’s next for Anakin and Ahsoka in Season 2, Christensen also hopes to return to the role of Darth Vader in other stories—especially ones set after Revenge of the Sith.

The world of Star Wars has come a long way since George Lucas played around with a few miniature models and turned them into the basis for a franchise that would span over five decades and become one of the most profitable IPs in the world. As the creator of Andor, Tony Gilroy has become a big part of the current success of the franchise, but as he revealed to MovieWeb’s George Edelman, that doesn’t necessarily mean he has become the best buddy of the franchise’s godfather.
Andor is set to release its second and final season over the coming weeks, starting with the first three-episode drop on Disney+ on April 22. Ahead of the season premiere, Gilroy revealed that he has, surprisingly, only ever had one conversation with Lucas about the franchise.
“I've only spoken to George Lucas once on the phone after Rogue [One] came out, I spoke to him.

Entire books have been written about the development and production of the first Star Wars movie, what we've come to know as A New Hope. The very short version is that George Lucas wrote a first treatment in 1973, expanded that to a first draft of a full script in 1974, and went through several revisions and rewrites before filming began in 1976. One of the most fascinating Star Wars adaptations in the franchise's history is based on that very first script.

The 2016 film “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” was a critical and commercial success at the time, but hasn’t had much staying power in the cultural consciousness. A prequel to “A New Hope” extrapolated from that movie’s iconic opening crawl, “Rogue One” was vestigial by design. The subtitle also announced the project as one of a planned series of standalone films to pad out Disney’s release schedule; when that effort fizzled along with beleaguered origin story “Solo,” “Rogue One” was left marooned as a largely forgotten blip.
One of the many, many impressive accomplishments in “Andor,” the Disney+ series that will conclude its two-season run in the coming weeks, is that it retroactively transforms “Rogue One” from a trivial footnote into a thrilling conclusion. In the second-season premiere of Disney+’s Andor, a small group of Imperial officers gather for a meeting. In delicate euphemisms, over a tasteful catered lunch, plans are hatched for the wholesale slaughter of Ghorman, a vaguely Continential-inspired planet whose only crime is being made of material the Empire wishes to mine.

During an interview with Cinema Today at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, Filoni said he would like Takashi Yamazaki, the filmmaker behind Toho's critically acclaimed Godzilla Minus One, to unleash his creativity in the galaxy far, far away to see what he would come up with. However, he acknowledged that Yamazaki is likely too "busy" with his next kaiju feature to take a galactic detour.
Yamazaki has publicly declared his love for Star Wars in the past and was previously invited by Lucasfilm to attend a special screening and Q&a session for Godzilla Minus One at the company's San Francisco headquarters as part of an internal Filmmaker Forum series, organized by noted Godzilla superfan Filoni. The event sparked hopes of a potential...

Andor Season 1 distinguished itself as one of the most celebrated Star Wars properties to come out in quite some time. The show was able to take the IP in a more mature direction, something that Star Wars had not previously done. This was widely applauded by fans and critics alike.
One of the major aspects of the show that fans ended up enjoying a lot was Agent Dedra Meero and Syril Karn’s blossoming romance as they hunted Andor across the galaxy. It seems that the creators of the show will be taking this relationship forward in Season 2 of Andor, much to the delight of the fandom.

"Star Wars" is full of surprise cameos, from fan-favorite characters to niche pieces of Legends lore. However, the coolest cameos are the ones you're least likely to notice. With the massive success of "Star Wars," it has become an honor and even a tradition to sneak fun celebrity cameos into the films and shows, but thanks to the many fantastical elements within George Lucas' original creation, almost all of them are completely unrecognizable. Whether it be under hours of prosthetic makeup or underneath the helmet of a stormtrooper, one of your favorite actors may have made an appearance in a Star War right under your nose.
Today, all will be revealed as we uncover the best celebrity cameos this franchise has to offer. For this list, we are only including cameos from folks who haven't previously played a major role in the franchise,...

Tony Gilroy was barely on set for “Andor” Season 2. The series’ head writer and showrunner finished his scripts about a week before the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike began, forcing writers into a state of “radio silence.” When the strike ended and Gilroy returned to work, something amazing waited for him: 12 fully shot episodes.
“You’re always in the cutting room on a show, in a movie, and inevitably, you’re at the point where you say, ‘Man, I’d pay $50,000 if I could see my movie for the first time,'” Gilroy told IndieWire ahead of the show’s Season 2 premiere. “I got to watch all 12 episodes on the run with the freshest eyes I could ever imagine, and I got to watch it as the audience would see it.”

Star Wars Celebration did not disappoint with the trailer reveal of Star Wars Zero Company, the turn-based single player strategy game coming in 2026. From Respawn, Bit Reactor, and Lucasfilm Games, video game fans got their first real look at the trailer after the poster was revealed earlier this week.
The story follows a formal Republic officer named Hawks who puts together an elite squad to do the grittiest battles of the Clone Wars that no one writes stories about. The game is set in the waning days of the war (which makes me nervous for the Jedi padawan and the Clone Trooper paired up together) as the group pushes back against a force that is taking over the galaxy outside of the ongoing conflict.

The Andor panel at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Japan included several cast and crew members on stage, including Diego Luna. However, the real surprise came later.
The attendees got to see the second season's first episode before its official release on Disney+. Some of the fans who were present at the viewing and others who got an opportunity at an early screening shared their opinions on social media.
Jason Concepcio wrote, "Andor Season 2 is outrageously good."
Star Wars Holocron gave a more detailed breakdown after watching all 12 episodes of season 2. "This season is more mature and relevant than any other Star Wars project," they said. "The show explores difficult topics never explored before in Star Wars, and handles them with incredible grace and thoughtfulness." They also added what the Andor cast and crew have been saying for a while: Season 2 changes our perspective on Rogue One and A New Hope.

This week, fans across the galaxy united for the ultimate fan event, as Lucasfilm rolled out the red carpet for its official Star Wars Celebration. There, they were treated to celebrity panels, behind-the-scenes looks, and reveals of new projects coming to theaters and Disney+.
While that's all very exciting, an overlooked piece of news from this week came from our neighbors across the pond, as UK audiences are also getting a big release. However, there's a slight caveat with this new announcement.
The saga begins (again)
Spanning across nine films and countless spin-off shows, novels, comic books, and video games, few series have captured the globe as much as Star Wars. Since the '70s, audiences everywhere have been swept up in the saga of Jedi, Sith Lords, bounty hunters, and starships, but there has been a vocal outcry for a return to the original film.

Though during the Ahsoka panel at Star Wars Celebration, Dave Filoni, chief creative officer of Lucasfilm, kept a tight lip on what to expect from Ahsoka Season 2, which begins filming in a week, but it would turn out that he was just going to let a teaser at the end of the panel do the talking. The trailer featured a recap of Season 1 of the Rosario Dawson-led series as well as what to expect for Season 2. The teaser was done in an 80s-inspired style made entirely of concept art ahead of production. It was inspired by retro advertisements for the sequel to A New Hope, long before they'd filmed anything for Empire Strikes Back. The concept art-filled trailer featured a voiceover teasing the conflict between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant.

One of the truly great "Star Wars" stories from the Disney era of Lucasfilm is getting a brand unique new lease on life. Revealed as part of the Manga Mania panel during this year's Star Wars Celebration in Japan, a manga adaptation of the 2019 video game "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order" is on the way
Widely considered to be one of the best stories in any medium during the Disney era of the franchise, "Jedi: Fallen Order" and its sequel "Jedi: Survivor" take place between the events of "Revenge of the Sith" and "A New Hope." While many people reading this have probably played the games centered on former Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis, video games aren't for everyone. As such, this manga adaptation is a very unique way to present the story, potentially opening it up to a new audience. A synopsis for the book reads as follows:

Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord Animated TV Series Starring Sam Witwer Officially Set For 2026 Release

Obi-Wan Kenobi sliced Darth Maul in half and sent him tumbling to his death in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. However, The Clone Wars animated series would later reveal that Papatine's Sith apprentice had survived.
Now rocking a pair of badass cybernetic legs, his story continued there before the villain eventually returned in Star Wars Rebels (which is where his tale also concluded after one final clash with Obi-Wan on Tatooine).
Solo: A Star Wars Story brought Maul back in live-action, and had that movie received a sequel, chances are we'd have seen more of what he got up to as the leader of Crimson Dawn. Unfortunately, the movie was a box office flop.
At Star Wars Celebration in Japan earlier today, it was confirmed - via SFFGazette.com -that Maul will return in Lucasfilm's next animated series, Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord.

George Lucas directed 1977’s Star Wars, which emerged as a global phenomenon. Over the years, Lucas expanded the IP into one of the biggest franchises of all time, shaping the original and prequel trilogy of movies. However, shortly before the sequel trilogy, Lucas sold his company to Disney.
The rights to the Star Wars franchise have since been held by Disney, who decided to opt for a new path following Lucas’ retirement. However, Lucas was allegedly unhappy with the franchise’s direction under Disney. In his memoir, Disney CEO Bob Iger explained why Lucas was upset with the studio, and here is what he had to say.

If you've ever wanted to experience Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope the way fans did in 1977 when it graced the big screen for the first time, this could be your chance!
The Hollywood Reporter shared news from The Telegraph confirming that The British Film Institute (BFI) will screen an original, uncut version of Star Wars in the U.K. at the "Film on Film" festival's Opening Night on June 12. This is the first time the original print will be screened publicly since December 1978. Since then, it's been hard to keep track of all the changes George Lucas made to it, starting with its opening crawl.
After several alterations to the original cut, George Lucas ensured that only the special editions would be available for public distribution. This made it difficult for fans to find the original cut. Moreover, Disney and Lucasfilm only consider the special editions to be canon.

The original 1977 cut of Star Wars is different in a lot of subtle ways, yet spoke volumes to many audiences and fans. It was not yet part of a franchise, it wasn’t even called Episode IV or A New Hope yet — only known simply as Star Wars. The trilogy would eventually go through many changes, which started with the added title in the opening crawl. George Lucas would only keep going with the changes from there as his philosophy had seemingly been, “Films are not finished, but abandoned.”
However, for film purists, that original, unaltered version of Star Wars is a Holy Grail of sorts and The Hollywood Reporter is revealing that this version of the film that George Lucas had banned from theaters will be projected onto the screen once again. Unfortunately, it will only be available for a few individuals who are lucky enough to be attending...

There is an excellent chance you have never seen Star Wars.
Oh, you might think you’ve seen 1977’s Star Wars (now christened Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope). But what you’ve likely actually seen is one of the many altered versions of Star Wars that have been in wide distribution ever since the film’s initial theatrical run.
Writer-director George Lucas famously kept making tweaks and changes to his creation through iterations of “Special Editions.” Many of these changes are somewhat subtle, while others are glaring and, many fans say, distracting, and even embarrassing (perhaps the worst example — the infamously resurrected Han Solo and Jabba the Hutt scene — remains quite cringe, even after an effort was made to improve it). Going over the history of the original Star Wars and its transformation is a bit like watching an episode of Botched, where a desire for a...

Adult Swim was founded on the tenet of delivering transgressive animated and live-action media to fill the void on Cartoon Network after kids went to sleep. If you were to compile a handful of shows that serve as a pillar of the late night programming block, "Robot Chicken" would undoubtedly be one of them. The stop-motion animated sketch show would present over 11 minutes of pure, unfiltered chaos using action figurines, dolls and an assortment of toys to lampoon all manner of pop culture. Very little was off limits after 11:30pm.
As someone who initially caught the show by accident after staying up late to watch episodes of "Family Guy," it's crazy to see the kind of legacy it's had across 11 seasons. There are a plethora of memorable sketches that have become mainstays of pop culture, such as a gummy bear getting caught in a bear trap, "Beavis and Butthead" joining the "Teen Titans,...

“Star Wars” has always held a touch of a political statement within its narrative fabric. From “A New Hope” to “Skeleton Crew,” the franchise understands the importance of the little guy standing up to the evil, empiric force, but perhaps no installment recognizes this better than “Andor.” Set amidst the formation of the resistance that takes place between “Revenge of the Sith” and “A New Hope,” this spin-off of “Rogue One” has used its episodic function to dive deeper into the mentality and experience of characters on the fringes of the galactic society, providing an allegory for our own troubled times.

The majority of the political ramifications that occur within the "Star Wars" universe during the Rise of the Empire era are based on the development, construction, operation, and destruction of the original Death Star. First introduced to audiences in 1977 in "Star Wars: A New Hope" (and chronologically through its schematics in "Star Wars: Attack of the Clones"), this space station and superweapon was the physical embodiment of the Empire's supremacy over the galaxy.
Naturally, the construction and operations of the Death Star would cost, well, an astronomical amount of money. As Dr. John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) from "Jurassic Park" would say, the Empire "spared no expense" regarding the superweapon that destroyed the planet Alderaan. But what would the actual budget for the space station be, vis-à-vis the Imperial credit-to-u.S. dollar conversion?

The original theatrical cut of Star Wars will be shown in theaters for the first time in decades. The BFI is planning to screen the 1977 version of George Lucas' timeless classic during their Film on Film Festival on June 12. Star Trek was the original science fiction franchise. Laying the foundations for an entire era of cinema, The Original Series stands as one of the most formative shows in the history of Hollywood. While some might argue that the franchise did not have that big of an impact, there is no denying that works like Star Wars wouldn’t have had the success that they do today without the show first gathering an audience for them.
Considering this, one might think that there is no reality in which Star Trek would be influenced by George Lucas’ series. It came first, and it had influence.

I was happy to see Christopher Walken back in Hollywood last year after his four-year-long hiatus from films. He is one of those actors who could easily slip into a character and make it his own. The villainous turn in Dune: Part Two was a walk in the park for Walken, who had played far more devious villains in his career.
To jog your memory, Walken played one of my favorite Bond villains. In Roger Moore’s final outing as Agent 007 in A View to a Kill, Walken played Max Zorin, the Nazi tech businessman who wants to monopolize the microchip market. He commits a lot of devious acts throughout the film, making everyone hate him to the core.

After 48 years, the 1977 theatrical cut of the movie is set to screen again this summer. It will surely look rather different this time round
Cast your mind back, lightsaber-wielding relics of a certain age, to the first time you saw the 1977 theatrical cut of Star Wars. Was it in a cinema, surrounded by gaggles of wide-eyed space cadets astounded by this glittering, laser-blasted disco ball? Or perhaps on a VHS recorded off ITV’s small-screen premiere in 1982? Perhaps, if you’re under 30, you’ve never actually seen it, and a Star Wars without crappy CGI Jabbas, Greedo shooting first and gratuitous Tatooine dinosaurs is something you can’t even imagine. Maybe you actually think it’s called A New Hope, and is a sequel to all those brilliant films about Anakin Skywalker, trade route embargos, and midichlorians.
And perhaps you’re right. It’s so long since we’ve seen...

StarWars.com announced multiple new publishing titles ahead of the Lucasfilm Publishing panel at Star Wars Celebration Japan next week (more on that here). The one that got me the most excited was an art book celebrating the work of one of the most important people at Lucasfilm.
Doug Chiang: The Cinematic Legacy And The Star Wars Legacy is a new 800-page two book collection all about artist and designer Dough Chiang. The deluxe slipbook features his artwork and designs from across the Star Wars franchise and arrives on December 2, 2025. Star Wars also revealed the cover for the collection.

Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World will be available to buy and rent on digital platforms from April 15, before hitting 4K Blu-ray/DVD on May 13, and the gag reel from the bonus features has now been released online.
The video is really just the usual outtakes and behind-the-scenes shots of the cast having fun, but there is a pretty great Star Wars callback from Harrison Ford.
As the story goes, Ford jokingly yelled at George Lucas while shooting a scene involving some particularly cheesy dialogue on A New Hope: "George! You can type this shit, but you sure can't say it! Move your mouth when you're typing!"
Here, Ford turns to the camera while filming an early scene with Anthony Mackie and repeats the famous phrase.

Nearly 50 years ago, George Lucas’ first Star Wars movie was simply called Star Wars, and not Star Wars: Episode IV- A New Hope when it premiered in theaters in 1977. Now, fans of the iconic franchise will be able to see the original cut of Star Wars just as moviegoers did back then. For some, it will be re-living a childhood memory and, for others, it is a chance to see the rare, original cut for the very first time.
Per Collider, the British Film Institute (BFI) will screen Star Wars in its original, rare, unaltered 1977 glory on the opening night of BFI’s Film on Film Festival on June 12. The event will be held at BFI’s Southbank Theater in London. Those in attendance will also be treated to archives and historical material from the movie, which will include deleted scenes and Polaroid pictures taken on the movie’s set.

Is the original unedited version of Star Wars being released again? (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
There are movies that entertain, and then there are movies that reshape culture. George Lucas’ Star Wars, first released in 1977, belongs squarely in the latter category. With its revolutionary special effects, storytelling, and a galaxy far, far away that instantly felt like home, it changed the face of modern cinema forever. But over the years, the original theatrical version, the one that launched it all, has become something of a lost artifact, buried beneath layers of Special Editions, CGI enhancements, and revised canon.
For generations of fans, this untouched version of Star Wars has lived in memory, on VHS tapes, or through bootleg fan restorations. It’s long been a dream to experience it on the big screen as it was first shown. Now, in an unprecedented event, that dream is becoming a reality. The...
