Kevin Feige was part of the infamous Marvel Creative Committee (McC) in the early stages of the MCU and played a crucial role in preventing the committee from ruining Captain America. According to reports, Feige and Louis D’Esposito vehemently opposed the committee’s idea to set the character in modern times. There were screaming matches during meetings of the McC, with Feige emerging successful and giving us the period piece, Captain America: The First Avenger.

According to the book MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, the McC consisted of Dan Buckley, Joe Quesada, Brian Michael Bendis, Louis D’Esposito, Kevin Feige, and Alan Fine. The book suggested that most of the unpopular and toxic opinions came from Alan Fine, who was the Dwight to Ike Perlmutter’s Michael.

The period setting of Captain America: The First Avenger was almost changed, but Kevin Feige's insistence on showing rather than telling allowed the audience to connect with Steve Rogers' story as a man out of time. Steve Rogers' origin story needed to take place during WWII because it was crucial to his transformation into Captain America. Updating it to modern times would have required rewriting key elements that wouldn't make sense. Marvel could benefit from more movies set in the past, as it provides a good blueprint for new origin stories and allows for the introduction of characters like the Fantastic Four and X-Men. Setting movies in the past adds depth to character stories and expands the possibilities for future films.
One aspect of Chris Evans' Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger was almost ruined by Marvel, and, in fact, led to "screaming matches" between executives.

The lawsuit between Phil Collins and his former wife, Orianne Cevey, has allegedly been dismissed by a judge in Florida.
Cevey, who was married to the Genesis vocalist, drummer and solo artist from 1999 to 2008, sued him for half of the proceeds from the sale of the Miami estate they once owned together.
The property listing stated that it sold for nearly 40m (£34m) in January 2021.
Page Six reports that Cevey claimed Collins had previously promised her half of a sale if she moved back in with him.
However, it has now been reported that the case has come to an end after a Florida judge declared that he’d seen enough evidence to dismiss.
According to papers seen by the publication, Judge Alan Fine said: “I’m done with this. You can go ahead and prepare the order of dismissal… I feel comfortable that enough is enough.”

Back in 2015, we heard Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige almost walked away from the company due to ongoing disagreements with the Marvel Creative Committee about "Captain America: Civil War." This group situated at the Marvel Entertainment offices in New York consisted of Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter, president Alan Fine, Marvel Comics writer Brian Michael Bendis, Marvel Comics publisher Dan Buckley, and Marvel Entertainment Cco Joe Quesada, and they were constantly meddling in the affairs of Marvel Studios with terrible notes and worse ideas. At the time, all we heard was talk about the brass in New York wanting to scale...

Exclusive: After its successful festival run, the film Huracán is set to make landfall. HBO has acquired the rights to Cassius Corrigan and Hyde Park International’s Latinx psychological thriller. Packing an Mma punch, the film marks the feature directorial debut of Corrigan, who also wrote the script and is the lead of the film. Huracán is slated to bow on HBO and HBO Max on September 11.
Huracán follows aspiring Mma fighter Alonso Santos (Corrigan) who suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder, which manifests itself in his aggressive and reckless alternate personality, Huracán (hence the title). The film also stars Yara Martinez (Jane the Virgin), UFC superstar Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal, Muay Thai champion Grégory Choplin, actor/musician Steven Spence, and Colombian newcomer Camila Rodríguez.
“It’s a dream come true,” says Corrigan, “HBO is the most prestigious brand in entertainment, and for them to champion Huracán is a testament that we accomplished something truly special.

Last week’s move giving Kevin Feige charge of Marvel’s television, animation and print editorial operations should come as no surprise. As the architect of the company’s enormous film success, Feige arguably has the most enviable track record of any contemporary entertainment executive. Extending his creative control over more of the Marvel universe seems like a no-brainer. But some insiders were stunned that Feige’s gain came at the expense of Ike Perlmutter — Marvel Entertainment’s CEO and the largest single shareholder of its corporate parent, the Walt Disney Co. To see Perlmutter, who had already lost control of Marvel’s film unit in a vicious turf war with Feige and Disney in 2015, be forced to cede nearly all creative authority at the company he’s run for more than 20 years came as a shock to some.
None were more surprised by the move than the Marvel executives...

Well, this is awkward timing.
During Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment’s panel at Disney’s D23 Expo on Friday evening, the company announced a new original preschool animated series for Disney Junior, Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends. Set to debut in 2021, it marks the first full-length Marvel series for Disney Junior.
The news comes at the end of a tumultuous week for the Spider-Man live-action movie franchise. As Deadline first reported, a standoff between Sony and Marvel/Disney has led to Marvel chief Kevin Feige exiting the Sony’s Spider-Man franchise and a looming exit of Spider-Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Disney Xd has ordered a third season of the Emmy-nominated animated series Marvel’s Spider-Man with a Spring 2020 premiere, according to Marc Buhaj, senior vice president, programming and general manager, Disney Xd. In the third season, titled Marvel’s Spider-Man: Maximum Venom, Peter Parker’s alter ego is pushed to his breaking point when the always-volatile Venom summons a global threat from its alien home world.
“This is the most epic conflict in the history of Marvel Animation,” said Cort Lane, senior vice president, Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment. “We planted the seeds in two seasons of Marvel’s Spider-Man and three seasons of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, but you don’t need to have watched them to be blown away by this colossal confrontation. For years, the filmmaking teams working on the Marvel Studios' films were getting a lot of input and notes from Marvel's Creative Committee led by Ike Perlmutter was a thorn in their side, which is why Kevin Feige eventually had Disney cut ties with them. Feige ended up orchestrating a move with Disney and CEO Bob Iger to make Marvel Studios a separate entity which would only report to Disney.
One of the more ridiculous things that the Marvel Creative Committee wanted to do is have James Gunn ditch his amazing soundtrack for Guardians of the Galaxy! James Gunn told Vanity Fair that the committee was “a group of comic-book writers and toy people” who gave him “haphazard” notes. As you know, the Guardians soundtrack, "Awesome Mix Vol. 1", ended up going Platinum.

Ant-Man will shrink onto the small screen, for a series of shorts on Disney Xd...
Fittingly enough, Ant-Man is going to flit between the big and small screens. Scott Lang is shrinking to telly size for Disney Xd, to appear in a series of shorts entitled Marvel's Ant-Man.
See related Star Wars: Rogue One review Star Wars: Rogue One - what did you think?
Josh Keaton (heard recently in Ben-10 and Voltron: Legendary Defender) will step into Paul Rudd's shoes to voice crook-turned-hero Scott.
The shorts will follow on from the events of Peyton Reed's 2015 Ant-Man movie, but, as with the Guardians Of The Galaxy animated series, we wouldn't expect them to be officially canonical with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The cinematic sequel Ant-Man And The Wasp, we expect, won't need to shape its script to account for these events.

The news of the new series came from Cort Lane, the senior vice president of Marvel Animation and Family Entertainment at Nycc, and this is what he said about it in a statement:

Marvel Studios is getting ready to pop some champagne bottles.
The studio is getting ready to release Captain America: Civil War, and it's looking to be the biggest film in that particular series. Captain America: The First Avenger opened to $65 million, followed by Captain America: The Winter Soldier- which brought in $95 million. This time around, Cap will be joined by several super-powered friends, and the expected haul for the film, domestically, is $175 million.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, that figure could go as high as $200 million, based on the strength of the current tracking numbers. Awareness is high; Reviews are fantastic; and the Marvel brand has never been stronger. Mix in the fact that this will feature the McU debut of Spider-Man, and it's a perfect storm for the studio.
The international figure isn't being discussed at the moment, but they're definitely something to look out for. Something I've...

At the NYC premiere for Daredevil season 2 , Marvel Head of Television Jeph Loeb touched on the ever expanding slate of programming in development at Marvel TV. Said Loeb, "It never stops. We have, in one way or the other, there's nine or ten shows that are going. They're going on in my brain. The idea is, much like when I was doing television and writing comics at the same time, it’s about telling stories, and making sure we are telling the best stories that we can. I’m not there alone, I’ve got people like Joe Quesada, Dan Buckley, and Alan Fine at Marvel, incredible showrunners, incredible writers, Jim Chory, who’s my head of production and can make all of these things happen. It’s having a team around you to be able to do exactly what you’re saying, which is not just live here, but...

Some excerpts are now online from a video interview from China featuring "Captain America: Civil War" directors Joe and Anthony Russo. The directing duo are hard at work on post-production on the highly-anticipated 'Captain America' sequel and are also signed on to take the reigns of "The Avengers" franchise with the two-part "Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1 & 2."
In the interview, the Russo Brothers talked about the recent split between Marvel Studios and Marvel Entertainment's CEO Isaac 'Ike' Perlmutter and the creative committee composed of top executives from Marvel Entertainment who would give their input on each Marvel Studios film. The committee was composed of Marvel Entertainment's President Alan Fine, Marvel's Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada, Marvel Comics publisher Dan Buckley, and famed comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis.

A very nice and large piece of "Captain America: Civil War" concept art has dropped, and has basically every superhero in the movie featured in this picture depicting them fight to the death. No, still no Spider-Man, but we get a cool new look at the likes of Black Panther and Ant-Man. We also get some small and interesting pieces of info regarding a couple of characters in the movie, from both Team Iron Man and Team Captain America. The official synopsis for "Captain America: Civil War" has been released by Marvel studios. I can't be the only one who thought we've already known the synopsis for quite some time now, but I tend to have a truly awful memory. The synopsis doesn't reveal anything new to us, just a condensed version of the information we've found on our own through certain things like set photos and the film's first trailer. Don't get your hopes up, still no mention of Spider-Man.

While the premiere of "Agent Carter" is still a few months away, ABC has already released a second trailer for season two. On the heels of the first trailer for the sophomore season of "Marvel's Agent Carter," this new extended look features the "original team" of Peggy (Hayley Atwell), Jarvis (James D'Arcy) and Sousa (Enver Gjokaj) working together on a case in Hollywood. The new trailer also features some of the first dialogue of the new season, including the return of Peggy's American accent. Check out the new trailer below: “Marvel’s Agent Carter” returns for a second season of adventure and intrigue, starring Hayley Atwell in the titular role of the unstoppable agent for the Ssr (Strategic Scientific Reserve). The last time we saw Agent Carter (Hayley Atwell), she was saying goodbye to Captain America by pouring the last ounces of his blood into the Hudson River in New York City. Now she's back, and this time she's in Los Angeles. What brings Peggy to Los Angeles is still unclear, but the trailer clearly shows her working in the star-studded, noir world of 1940s Hollywood. There are a few scenes in the trailer which feature Mr. Jarvis (James D'Arcy), his wife Ana Jarvis (Lotte Verbeek) and Peggy's new love interest Jason Wilkes (Reggie Austin). The villain of this season, Whitney Frost (Wynn Everett), cannot be seen in the trailer, but a clue hinting at her role as Madame Masque is teased, if you look very closely. Ssr Agent Daniel Souza (Enver Gjokaj) is also back for season two, this time as Chief of the Ssr. Check out the season...

As you've likely heard by now, the Marvel Entertainment Creative Committee made up of names like Alan Fine, Dan Buckley, Joe Quesada, and Brian Michael Bendis will no longer be playing a role in the Marvel Studios movies. They've been blamed for Edgar Wright leaving Ant-Man and providing notes which disrupted the development of many of their projects. Now, Bleeding Cool has revealed the movies which were most influenced by this group, and it's a pretty interesting list. Those were apparently Iron Man, Avengers, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Captain America: Civil War. Those they didn't work on were Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, and Avengers: Age Of Ultron. While I'm not doubting the site's sources, they're taking a very anti-Kevin Feige approach with these stories, and the fact that the movies they've been told the Creative Committee...

There was a real behind-the-scenes clash during the making of Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War" that nearly led to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige leaving the company.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Feige wasn't happy about having to report to New York-based Marvel Entertainment CEO Isaac "Ike" Perlmutter, who wanted to keep a lid on the budget for the sequel that's so big, it's being referred to as "Avengers 2.5." The film, as fans well know, pits Captain America against Iron Man and features just about every one of the Avengers line-up.
"New York wanted to scale it down," an insider tells THR, referring not just to Perlmutter, but to the in-house "creative committee," a group of executives from Marvel's various divisions that includes Alan Fine, Perlmutter's right-hand man.
"New York had a big say for a long time, but hasn't Kevin earned the right to some autonomy? He's made the company billions.

As successful as Marvel Studios has been over the last few years, a serious problem (well, two) reared its head over the course of it’s Phase Two run of movies. People started to notice the ‘Marvel formula’, which was basically the same story been rehashed over and over again and the same action packed 'army vs. army’ finale from The Avengers being wheeled each time. Now, don’t get me wrong, most of Phase Two’s output was fantastic (guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America: The Winter Soldier especially), but this formula is to blame for the growing lack creativity that has plagued Marvel movies of late and is leading to a sort of superhero fatigue, even from hardcore comic book movie fans. And all the blame lies squarely with the Marvel Creative Committee. Headed up by Marvel Entertainment president Alan Fine, the committee consists of prolific Marvel Comics writer Brian Michael Bendis,...

Marvel Studios may not have another movie coming out until next May, but things are very busy behind the scenes right now. This started when it was officially announced that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige would no longer be reporting to Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter, and instead will be in direct contact with Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn. What's interesting, though, is that this has possibly led to another major shift - specifically the disbandment of the group known as the Creative Committee at Marvel. This very interesting story comes to us from Birth.Movies.Death., which has heard from unnamed sources that the Creative Committee is all but completely done in the movie department at Marvel Studios (they may continue to have roles to play in the television side of things). This group includes a handful of notable names including former toy executive Alan Fine, comic book...

According to Birth.Movies.Death, Marvel Studios' Creative Committe has been disbanded this week following the severing of ties between the studio and Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter. For those of you unfamiliar with the group, it was apparently made up of names like Alan Fine, Brian Michael Bendis, Dan Buckley, and Joe Quesada. Their job was to give notes and weigh in on Marvel productions while they were being adapted. Their input was clearly not appreciated by Kevin Feige (because, let's face it, he hardly needs the help of someone like Bendis) as now it will just be him, Louis D'Esposito, and Victoria Alonso making key creative decisions. So, why scrap what sounds like a relatively useful group of people to have around? According to the site, this committee was something of a burden, offering up "notes that are pedestrian, motivated by 'save the cat' story logic and sometimes a drag on creativity.

The last shackles around Kevin Feige's neck have been cut it would seem as Birth Movies Death reports that Marvel's creative committee has effectively been dissolved.
Alan Fine, Brian Michael Bendis, Dan Buckley and Joe Quesada were a part of the committee, a think tank of key Marvel employees who offered notes on all Marvel Studios films in development.
It's decisions by this committee that is thought to be behind much of the behind-the-scenes disputes at the studio that went public such as Joss Whedon's issues on "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and Edgar Wright's departure from "Ant-Man".
They're also alleged to be the key reason why many of the Marvel Studios film adopt the same formulaic tone and blandness to some extent - something which has frustrated filmmakers who've wanted to be more creative.
