Sophie Okonedo will receive the Richard Harris Award at the 2024 British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs), organizers unveiled Monday.

The Richard Harris Award recognizes the outstanding contribution of an actor to British film. Ronan recently spoke with Elle and revealed what it was like to play Rona, a complex character, who’s struggling to get sober in The Outrun.

Lena Dunham has been tapped to write a new movie on the rise and fall of the Ftx founder, Sam Bankman-Fried.

According to Variety, the Girls creator will adapt Michael Lewis’s 2023 bestseller Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon for Apple and A24. Bankman-Fried, once seen as the poster boy for crypto, was convicted of fraud last year and sentenced to 25 years. At one point, he was the 41st richest American, according to Forbes.

Earlier this year, Sam Bankman-Fried was sentenced to 25 years in prison after being found guilty of fraud charges in connection to the cryptocurrency exchange Ftx in a highly-covered trial. Now, the founder’s story is going from fraud to film. Lena Dunham will write the script for an upcoming Apple Studios and A24 film chronicling Bankman-Fried’s rise and fall.

The Girls creator is on board to write a film adapting author Michael Lewis’ best-selling 2023 book Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon. Apple Studios and A24 are producing and developing the movie that is in early development.

Bankman-Fried founded Ftx in 2019, and the cryptocurrency exchange enjoyed a rise to prominence that included the company’s commercial running during the 2022 Super Bowl. Ftx boasted endorsements from such celebrities as Tom Brady, Stephen Curry and Larry David.

In March, the disgraced crypto entrepreneur was sentenced to 25 years in prison and forced to forfeit over $11 billion following his conviction on charges of fraud, conspiracy and money laundering. Bankman-Fried is appealing the conviction and sentence.

Exclusive: Joe Hipps has stepped down as President of TV at Fifth Season after more than seven years at the indie studio. He will continue to work as a producer developing and overseeing several projects while consulting with the Fifth Season leadership during the transition as a search for a new President of Television gets under way.

“It has been an awesome seven year run and we are excited to support Joe as he makes the transition to a producer,” Fifth Season’s Co-CEO’s Chris Rice and Graham Taylor said.

Hipps joined Fifth Season’s predecessor Endeavor Content in 2017 as EVP, Television. He was promoted to President, TV Development and Production, in 2022. Hipps’ tenure included steering the company’s TV creative team through a pandemic and a dual Hollywood strikes.

Lena Dunham will not subject herself to negative critiques about her body and has opted not to return to acting in her new Netflix series Too Much.

In a new interview, Dunham said she won’t be starring in her semi-autobiographic show on the streamer because of all the body shaming she faced on HBO’s Girls.

“I was not willing to have another experience like what I’d experienced around Girls at this point in my life,” Dunham said in an interview with The New Yorker. “Physically, I was just not up for having my body dissected again. It was a hard choice, not to cast [Megan Stalter]—because I knew I wanted Meg—but to admit that to myself.”
