It wasn't great to be a Millennial at the top of the 2010s. Not that other folks were having a ball, but by then people of that generation had spent a solid decade growing rapidly disillusioned with the state of the world upon coming of adult age. They and millions of others had also barely gone through the worst economic recession in the lifetimes of practically anyone still alive today. Plus, on top of somehow being both broke and utterly reckless spenders (or so the "Millennials are killing [Insert Name of Industry]" think-piece cottage industry at the time would have you believe), most of them were still in their early to mid-20s, which is a trying age for anyone who's ever lived.

Portman broke it down in an interview with Marie Claire UK: “His
was three times higher than mine, so they said he should get three times more.” Hollywood’s “quote” system might explain it, but it’s still wild. “I wasn’t as pissed as I should have been,” Portman asserted. And honestly, the disparity’s crazy....
While Portman acknowledged that acting paychecks are sky-high (“it’s hard to complain”), she didn’t let the industry off the hook. And neither did Kutcher, who later praised Portman on Twitter for calling out the imbalance.

Saoirse Ronan is opening up about wanting to see more flawed female characters represented onscreen after working on The Outrun.
The Irish actress’ career has been packed with angsty yet relatable roles for young women in films like Lady Bird, Little Women and Brooklyn. Before turning 30, she received four Oscar nominations. Ronan recently spoke with Elle and revealed what it was like to play Rona, a complex character, who’s struggling to get sober in The Outrun.
“I was so ready for it. I felt confident enough in my ability, but also confident enough in who I was,” she said. “I didn’t feel like I was being held down by a need to only play likable people.”
Ronan recalled seeing traits in other characters onscreen that helped her draw inspiration. “I really responded to Lena Dunham’s characters in Girls, who are arseholes sometimes, but we’ve all got the capability for that.

Well, it turns out everybody wants more “Nobody Wants This.”
The hit rom-com Netflix series has been renewed for a second season, along with a showrunner shake-up. “Girls” alums Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan will be the new co-showrunners for Season 2; the series marks Konner and Kaplan’s first collaboration since their iconic HBO show, created by Lena Dunham.
“Nobody Wants This” was created and executive produced by Erin Foster, who drew inspiration from her own life to write the love story between a gentile podcaster (Kristen Bell) and a rabbi (Adam Brody). The series was released September 26 on Netflix, with Foster and executive producer Craig Digregorio as the co-showrunners.
“Creating ‘Nobody Wants This’ will forever be a career highlight for me,” Foster said. “The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now...

Yellowjackets breakout Ella Purnell drew on previous experience of “not being afraid to look ugly” when leading Sweetpea, the irreverent Sky-Starz dramedy about a quiet wallflower who becomes a serial killer.
Speaking to Deadline in the days leading up to Sweetpea premiere, Purnell talked up her roles as Jackie in Yellowjackets and Lucy in Fallout, which allowed her to give breadth to her character Rhiannon in the C.J. Skuse adaptation.
“Yellowjackets was a really fun experiment in not being afraid to look ugly in environments where you initially look put together,” she said of playing Mean Girls-esque queen bee Jackie who ends up in a hole in the ground in the hit Paramount+ series. “Eventually she looks like s**t so bringing a bit of that to Rhiannon who doesn’t have a lot of pride in her appearance was important. It has been 25 years since Seinfeld came out and there were two characters that had growing chemistry that fans may never forget. Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Bryan Cranston’s characters are precisely the ones being referred to right now. Julia took on the role of Elaine Benes, who was best friends with the lead character of the show. Cranston was Tim Whatley, Jerry Seinfeld’s handsome dentist who charmed Elaine.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the MTV Video Music Awards. The inaugural ceremony, held at Radio City Music Hall and hosted by Dan Aykroyd and Bette Midler in 1984, saw the Cars taking home video of the year their groundbreaking clip for “You Might Think.”
Since then, the VMAs have doled out 39 more trophies for their top prize, with only a small handful of acts joining the club of repeat winners. Taylor Swift has racked up four wins while Eminem, Rihanna, and Beyoncé have notched two a piece (both Swift and Eminem have a shot at adding to their totals again this year).
Despite MTV handing over the choice to viewers in 2006, the quality of the winners in the category has remained surprisingly consistent, with only a few total duds or headscratchers. To celebrate the VMAs’ ruby anniversary, we ranked all 40 video of the year winners from worst to best.

Catherine Cohen has already appeared on “Girls5eva,” “What We Do in the Shadows,” “Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens,” “Broad City,” and “Search Party,” but it turns out no other show can really top the “good vibes” from Hulu’s beloved Emmy winner “Only Murders in the Building.”
Cohen stars in Season 4 of the whodunit series that centers on neighbors-turned-podcasters Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) as they solve the pile-up of murder cases that seem to follow them everywhere…including during a bicoastal stint as their podcast is adapted into a film.
While Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, and Eva Longoria star as versions of themselves cast in the film adaptation of the podcast, Cohen and Siena Werber play a directing duo helming the movie. “Pachinko” alum Jin Ha is the screenwriter, with Molly Shannon as the producer setting the whole thing in motion.

Presumably because movies like Joker and Cruella proved that audiences just love villain origin stories, this week we’re getting Reagan, a brand new biopic about the 40th President of the United States starring Dennis Quaid, Penelope Ann Miller and Jon Voight. Oh, and Creed frontman Scott Stapp as Frank Sinatra, because this movie is clearly some kind of collective fever dream.
But years before Quaid saddled up for the role (literally), we nearly got a movie about Ronald Reagan, also called Reagan, starring Will Ferrell. That may sound kind of odd, but it’s not like he didn’t have years of experience playing terrible presidents.
Back in 2016, it was reported that Ferrell’s production company, Gary Sanchez, had acquired Reagan, a screenplay by Mike Rosolio that appeared on the annual Black List, which collects the year’s best unproduced film scripts. Ferrell was attached to star in the...

“Emily in Paris” Season 4 delivered just the right amount of chaos, high fashion and whimsy we needed as the summer comes to a close.
But, with just five episodes in Season 4 Part 1, this season of the Netflix drama is ready to be binged in mere hours. Luckily, Part 2, which will include the latter five episodes of Season 4, will return on Sept. 12.
In the meantime, “Emily in Paris” creator Darren Star has plenty of lighter fare shows full of great fashion from “Sex and the City” — and its later offshoot “The Carrie Dairies” — to “Younger.” If you watch the Lily Collins-lead series for escapism, campy comedies like “Dollface” or “Drop Dead Diva” might also scratch the whimsical itch.
Keep on reading for the seven shows like “Emily in Paris” you should watch while you wait for Part 2 to drop.

Lily Collins is opening up about how, despite finding some similarities between herself and her Emily in Paris character, Emily Cooper, she’s found a way to separate herself from the character.
The actress sat down with InStyle for its recent cover, which published online Tuesday, a week before season four of the hit Netflix series releases. In the conversation, she got candid about Emily’s need to be perfect, how the character helped her find her sense of fashion again and plans beyond Paris.
When filming Emily in Paris season one, Collins recalled talking to her now-husband, Charlie McDowell, about the how she and her character were similar, and she wanted to find a way to differentiate them. Lena Dunham and Stephen Fry play a daughter and her Holocaust-survivor father, on a trip to his native Poland in the 1990s, in the dramedy Treasure. The trip is the daughter’s idea, and her plan is to learn about her family history, something her father and late mother always refused to talk about. Angry and frustrated at her parents’ refusal to share anything about their past, she plans to visit sites related to dad’s family and life to learn about the family she knows nothing about. Her father has steadfastly refused to talk about it, and with the death of her mother, she figured going to their home country of Poland was the only way. Mamet appeared in the Spider-Man spin-off, which has an 11% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, was described by one reviewer as a “Chornobyl-level disaster”, and became one of this year’s biggest box-office bombs.
The 36-year-old actor laughs awkwardly when I mention it. For a few days in February, Madame Web – and lead actor Dakota Johnson’s sublime press tour – was all the internet wanted to talk about.

Taylor Swift’s life is a highly televised one. Considering how she has been responsible for some of the most successful albums of all time and is single-handedly heading one of the biggest artist tours of all time, it is not surprising that hundreds watch every move she makes.
If she is present at an event, a venue, or even going out and about in her daily life, she is constantly followed by crowds and cameras. There have even been instances where there is speculation that she is present somewhere, and people have stormed the street.

While there is no denying that such a lifestyle can be very tiring and suffocating, something the singer had touched on in the past, it can also cause many to gain special skills because of it. Fans seemed to have noticed a particular...

Lena Dunham will not subject herself to negative critiques about her body and has opted not to return to acting in her new Netflix series Too Much.
In a new interview, Dunham said she won’t be starring in her semi-autobiographic show on the streamer because of all the body shaming she faced on HBO’s Girls.
“I was not willing to have another experience like what I’d experienced around Girls at this point in my life,” Dunham said in an interview with The New Yorker. “Physically, I was just not up for having my body dissected again. It was a hard choice, not to cast [Megan Stalter]—because I knew I wanted Meg—but to admit that to myself.”
She continued, “I used to think that winning meant you just keep doing it and you don’t care what anybody thinks. I forgot that winning is actually just...

Taylor Swift is one of the most notable and respected figures in the world. While her recent Eras Tour has given her unfathomable success, she has been at the forefront of the media for the majority of her career. Such an amount of notability can often come with its downsides, and the singer is no stranger to hate. One of her best-known ways to deal with the stress that comes with her life is to keep as much of it private as possible.
While the world does think that they know a lot about Swift, the majority of her life is kept hidden from peering eyes, and for good reason. It would seem that these practices are not exclusively practiced by her, as her close friends seem to understand the challenges that come with being such a public figure.

In a post-Barbie world, feminism plus toy equals box office paydirt – but after three years working on the script, Dunham decided she could no longer continue. Why?
Heartbreaking news from Hollywood: Lena Dunham is no longer involved in the forthcoming Polly Pocket movie. Speaking to the New Yorker, Dunham revealed she dropped out of the project because “I don’t think I have that in me.”
Clearly, there is a lot to unpack here. The first is, Christ, they’re going to make a Polly Pocket movie. People in Hollywood saw the success of Barbie and immediately started scouting around for other vaguely nostalgic toys that they could make a movie out of. And the fact that they initially chose Lena Dunham to write, direct and produce points to an even greater cynicism, as if some otherworldly algorithm had analysed Barbie and determined that the secret key to replicating its...
