A new episode of the Revisited video series has just been released, and in this one we’re looking back at the 2002 film May (watch it Here), which was the feature debut of writer/director Lucky McKee and happens to be a movie that’s great to watch during the Halloween season. To hear all about it, check out the video embedded above!
May has the following synopsis: Young misfit May endured a difficult childhood because of her lazy eye. And though contact lenses have helped May adjust as a young adult, her deep-seated awkwardness remains a problem. Adam, a young man obsessed with fixing wrecked cars, takes a shine to May’s oddball ways. But May’s strangeness ultimately drives him away, leaving her open to the advances of her co-worker Polly. When Polly dumps her too, May’s emotional instability turns violent.

The release date is July 24th and the Blu-ray can be pre-ordered at This Link – but keep in mind that the Blu-ray is locked to Region B.

Spoiler Alert: Five seasons of witness wrangling, crime-stopping tales came to end on tonight’s series finale of In Plain Sight. While it’s gloomy to see it go just as the season hit its stride with Mary (Mary McCormack) managing her impromptu decision to keep little baby Norah and still being a kick-ass U.S. Marshall, the show’s swan song gave us so much to be happy about.
Albuquerque Witsec is staying put, Marshall (Frederick Welller) and Stan (Paul Ben-Victor) both got promoted, Mary made peace with the memories of her dad, and runaway bride Brandi (Nichole Hiltz) returned sober and wiser.

It is an achievement for any series to reach the 5-year benchmark these days on television, and when In Plain Sight ends its wonderful run on May 4th, it will be with heavy hearts for many of the fans. USA Network’s insightful and highly entertaining look at what it means to shepherd witnesses through the witness protection system charmed viewers with its quirky, yet heart-warming characters.
In the world of In Plain Sight, U.S. Marshal Mary Shannon (Mary McCormack) and her partner Marshall Mann (Fred Weller), along with their watchful boss Stan McQueen (Paul Ben-Victor) and newest Witsec member Delia (Tangie Ambrose) comprised the core team charged with the care and well-being of a colorful array of Witsec protectees in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Chicago – Two of USA’s hits return tonight with the second-season premiere of “Fairly Legal” and the fifth-and-final-season premiere of “In Plain Sight.” Both shows work largely because of the talent brought to them by their lead actresses, a welcome change of pace for a network that can often feel a little bit testosterone-heavy (“Psych,” “White Collar,” “Burn Notice” — all driven by their male protagonists). Sadly, the writing could still use some work on both dramas but no one can deny the charismatic skill of the women at their centers.
TV Rating: 3.0/5.0
There was a brief moment there in season two when I thought “In Plain Sight” might actually develop into USA’s best post-“Monk” show. That wasn’t meant to be. The show spun its wheels a few too many times dramatically and never found a way to play up to the strengths of its super-talented star, Mary McCormack.

Shawnee Smith has joined the cast of Charlie Sheen's new sitcom Anger Management. Smith was first named as one of a number of actresses being considered for the FX series last week. The Saw star will play the ex-wife of Sheen's Charlie, a former baseball player turned anger therapist, according to Deadline. She is believed to have beaten out Dexter's Julie Benz, Work It's Kate Reinders and In Plain Sight's Nichole Hiltz for the role. A second female lead, to play Charlie's own therapist, has yet to be cast. Hellboy's Selma (more)...

Exclusive: Charlie Sheen’s new FX comedy series, Anger Management, is moving to cast its leading ladies. Selma Blair, who had been pursued by the show’s producers, is leading the field of actresses expected to test opposite Sheen at tomorrow’s studio test, which also includes Dexter and No Ordinary Family alumna Julie Benz. On the Lionsgate TV-produced Anger Management, which has an initial 10-episode order, Sheen will portray Charlie, a former baseball player with anger issues who winds up as an unconventional anger management therapist. There are 3 other leads on the series — all female — Charlie’s own therapist, envisioned as a love interest for him, his ex-wife and his 13-year-old daughter. If their deals close by the time the studio tests start tomorrow, I hear that there are at least three actresses reading for each of the roles. Blair is someone identified early on for the therapist role.

In May of 2007 (just prior to the nation’s economic collapse), this writer visited the set of the Bogner Entertainment and Trailer Park Partners production Trailer Park of Terror, a Southern-fried fright flick directed by country-music video director-turned feature filmmaker Steven Goldmann. Produced by Jonathan Bogner and Ralph Singleton (Pet Semetary) and based on the Imperium Comics of the same name, Trailer Park of Terror premiered the following year at Slamdance ’08, and was released to DVD that October via Summit Entertainment.
Starring Lew Temple and Priscilla Barnes (The Devil’s Rejects) and Nichole Hiltz, Duane Whitaker (Feast), Ed Corbin and Michelle Lee (among others), Trailer Park of Terror, regardless of its playfully sadistic EC Comics-vibe and inspired makeup designs by Todd Tucker, didn’t cause the waves its producers had predicted, and due to such, unfortunately derailed the planned feature franchise and television and comic book series. Michaela Conlin's Angela on the hit Fox series Bones has been one of the strongest female characters in recent history. As a forensic artist who specializes in craniofacial reconstruction (try saying that three times fast), she's just as intelligent as she is beautiful, and serves as a loyal best friend to Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel).
Bones fans were psyched when repeated references were made to Angela's possible interest in women, including a mention of an ex-lover named Roxie. And in season four, viewers met Roxie (played by Nichole Hiltz) when she reappeared in Angela's life. The two rekindled their romance, briefly, but they eventually parted ways, giving Angela another chance to date Jack Hodgins (played by T. J. Thyne).

Chicago – “In Plain Sight” has not really built the loyal following of other basic cable shows like “Burn Notice” or “The Closer” and I wish the show would try harder to live up to its potential but it’s still wildy entertaining and features one of the better TV actress performances from Mary McCormack.
DVD Rating: 3.5/5.0
The opening narration of “In Plain Sight” sets the stage better than I possibly could - “Since 1970, the Federal Witness Protection Program has relocated thousands of witnesses - some criminal, some not - to neighborhoods all across the country. Every one of those individuals shares a unique attribute, distinguishing them from the rest of the general population. And that is, somebody wants them dead.”
In Plain Sight: Season Two was released on DVD on May 9th, 2010.
McCormack, star of “Private Parts, “1408,” and a Tony nominee, is perfectly cast as U.

In the spirit of Halloween '09, we're breaking out reviews (some new, some old) of some Fall Frights you may want to work into your monthly viewing.

I have to be honest: I wasn’t looking forward to seeing this film, despite the buzz at the Slamdance Film Festival, where I caught its premiere last week. At the fest’s headquarters at the Treasure Mountain Inn in Park City, Utah, the place was awash with half-drunk weirdos pumped to catch the late-night screening. I hid my press badge, hoping to avoid any conversation about what was sure to be a stinker—how could it not be with a title like Trailer Park Of Terror? Settling into my uncomfortable seat in the makeshift theater, I sighed and waited for the war between sleep and cinematic schlock to begin. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Television Rating: 3.5/5.0 Chicago – USA Network’s “In Plain Sight” was one of the best new shows of 2008, another hit for the highest-rated network on cable, USA. The first-year series still needs to iron out a few things to truly live up its potential but the excellent Mary McCormack continues to rock on one of the few must-see basic cable shows this season.
The season premiere of “In Plain Sight” - “Gilted Lily” - perfectly illustrates both the potential and the current flaws with USA’s hit. When a show places so much emphasis on weekly mysteries, you’re bound to have a few that fall flat. I honestly never once cared about the mystery at the heart of the second season premiere of “In Plain Sight” - a tale of a biker and some missing gold coins.

DVD Rating: 3.5/5.0 Chicago – “In Plain Sight” may not get the buzz or press of other cable hits like “Burn Notice” or “The Closer” and the show still needs some ironing out to truly live up to its potential but I watched every episode of this USA Network action drama when it aired and anxiously look forward to the new season (which we’ll review here on or just before its April 19th premiere) for one reason, Mary McCormack.

Last year in our annual overview of the Year in Television, Malinda Lo wrote, “Though there is still plenty of room for improvement — particularly on broadcast TV — the low points of 2007 do not contradict the fact that lesbian/bi representation on TV this past year has increased and improved significantly.”
Clearly, a lot can change in a year.
Though 2008 comes to a close with word of possible new queer female characters on the horizon in the coming year, the prospects for lesbians and bisexual women on television over the last twelve months have been somewhat grim.
This has been particularly true for lesbians, whose numbers on scripted network television have now dwindled to zero.
While portrayals of lesbian characters on Grey’s Anatomy and Cashmere Mafia (both on ABC) showed initial promise, it wasn’t long before their storylines turned sour and came to a screeching halt, due to either...

Fresh from The Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious, Nichole, Tiffanie, Natalie, Chrystina are the four happy girls who were able to land a record deal with Geffen Records, the people who made their debut self-titled album possible. In fact, the group has already released two videos, “Like Me” and “Stupid S---,” and their album will be hitting retail stores on July 1st. Now that they have got the ball rolling, the girls sit down to talk about their experiences on the reality competition, which trained them to become the sassy young performers they are now.
“When you are on reality TV you can’t get away with stuff you would have in real life,” the 18-year-old Nichole Cordova told Reality Wanted. “So that caused some problems between the girls.”
Being in the house with 15 girls with ages ranging from 17 to 21 would definitely bring on the drama, and the four finalists admitted that at one point,...
