Max Gülstorff(1882-1947)

German character comedian, on stage from 1900. Ensemble member of Max Reinhardt's Deutsches Theater in 1915. In Vienna from 1923 as director of the Theater in der Josefstadt and occasional author of plays. In silent films from 1916, but only achieved popularity in talking films, often in eccentric comedy roles. Best remembered as the enjoyably obtuse school's inspector in The Punch Bowl (1944).
