The Lost Boys wasn’t just a massive box office success, it was also a game-changer in vampire media, making the undead hip again and convincing a whole generation that they too could become juvenile vampire hunters (though I know a lot of people who wouldn’t mind joining Kiefer Sutherland’s punk-rock group of dreamy Nosferatu).
And as is often in the case in Hollywood, the film’s near-instant popularity meant that the studio was immediately interested in a follow-up, with director Joel Schumacher even coming up with a pitch titled “The Lost Girls” meant to follow a different tribe of female vampires. Of course, we all know that this project never materialized, and fans were forever left to wonder about what a proper Lost Boys sequel might look like. Or were they?
What a lot of horror fans don’t realize is that we actually did get not...

The original Lost Boys movie started a wave of new, original vampire movies back when it was released in 1987. The sequel to Lost Boy was called, The Tribe and was released straight to DVD in 2008. Right at the end of the movie, there was a cameo from Corey Haim who seemingly appeared as a vampire as an added extra to fans of the original movie. Haim tragically died earlier this year but was not set to appear in the third movie which has the title, Lost Boys: The Thirst.
The cast does include the legend that is, Corey Feldman alongside Jamison Newlander, Sean Cameron Michael, Seb Catang, Tanit Phoenix and is directed by Dario Piana. You may recognise Newlander when you watch the trailer (embedded below) as he played one of the Frog brothers in the original movie as we get to see him back for the third installment.

In 1987 the horror genre was dominated by the slasher fad of that decade. Zombies were mostly something seen only in Italian gorefests with the name Fulci attached. Ghosts and supernatural films were few and far between. Vampires ... well, vampires had been neutered and reduced to whiny flouncy boys by the likes of Anne Rice.
Seemingly out of nowhere came a film that introduced a young audience to a new, hip breed of bloodsucker in The Lost Boys. These vamps, while retaining the inherent sexiness of Rice’s Louis and Lestat, were, by their actions, a callback to the more vicious creatures made popular by the likes of people like Christopher Lee. The Lost Boys was nothing short of a cultural phenomenon and a film that served as a touchstone for the zeitgeist of the time.

The guys at Bloody Disgusting were lucky enough to get some one-to-one time with Corey Feldman at this years San Diego Comic Con, where the third film in the Lost Boys franchise, Lost Boys: The Thirst, received its world premiere. They talked all things Lost Boys, including plans for a Star Wars like 6-film saga, another comic and a possible TV series!
We have a master plan, much like the Star Wars kind of baseline if you will. We’ve pretty much plotted out at this point three more films that we could see happening. We’re going all kinds of places that are really interesting. Everybody was waiting for the Frog brothers to get back together and now we accomplished that with this film. The original Lost Boys movie started a wave of new, original vampire movies back when it was released in 1987. Since then, vampire movies seem to be coming out every other month with every studio jumping on the bandwagon. The sequel to Lost Boy was called, The Tribe and was released straight to DVD in 2008. Right at the end of the movie, there was a cameo from Corey Haim who seemingly appeared as a vampire.
Haim tragically died earlier this year but we’re pretty sure he wasn’t set to appear in this third installment of the movie this time called, Lost Boys: The Thirst. The cast does include Corey Feldman, Jamison Newlander, Sean Cameron Michael, Seb Catang, Tanit Phoenix and is directed by Dario Piana. Bloody-Disgusting have the official synopsis for the movie which again, goes straight to DVD after a couple of screenings in the Us in conjunction with Comic-Con.

Even Corey Feldman admits it ... Lost Boys 2: The Tribe sucked, but not in the way that everyone was hoping for. With the third one on the way Feldman spoke candidly about the sequel and why this time he thinks they have it right!
In an interview with Movie Mikes Feldman dropped the following on fans:
"The one thing I didn't like about the second film was that I was kind of in the trenches by myself," Feldman tells the site. "Edgar kept popping in every once in a while, and it felt odd to me. It felt like one of those movies where they couldn’t get it right. So the only way I was going to return for part 3 ... if you remember I had it in my contract that Corey (Haim) had to be in the sequel as well, and Warner Brothers kept their word; they shot some sequences with Corey.

After the disastrous Lost Boys: The Tribe, Warner Premiere is giving the franchise another spin with Lost Boys: The Thirst, the third film in the franchise that reunites Frog brothers Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander. Two years ago, director P.J. Pesce saw fit to reduce Corey Haim to a mid-credits cameo in Lost Boys: The Tribe, which was both a celebration of douchebag vampires as well as an entirely anticlimactic follow-up to Joel Schumacher's 1987 cult vampire flick. As far as straight-to-dvd efforts go, The Tribe sold deceptively well (290,450 DVD units or roughly $5 million worth), thanks to a few decades of pent-up demand as well as the inevitable sheer curiosity factor. However, any desire to see the franchise continue was quickly sated by The Tribe's utter disregard for any semblance of vampire mythology. The spectacle of those so-called surfer vampires also left no unquenched thirst even to those unfortunate enough to have witnessed this sequel in the depths of the most unforgiving cinematic desert.
Not to be deterred by titular irony (or, for that matter, common sense), a third installment has been helmed by Dario Piana...

I knew they were making a third “Lost Boys” movie, but I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t think we actually needed one. I mean, did the second one really did that much business that there’s a demand for a third? Apparently so. Check out the trailer that some kind soul recently put on YouTube. It actually doesn’t look as bad as I thought it would. Comparably speaking, I mean. There are a couple of nice scenes in there. I guess as long as they're still making new Twilight movies, vampires will continue to be a safe bet in Hollywood. Clearly this can be the only explanation for the existence of a second direct-to-dvd sequel to the 1987 cult classic The Lost Boys, especially after Warner Brothers released The Lost Boys: The Tribe a couple of years ago to piss poor reviews. Corey Feldman returns once again as vampire hunter Edgar Frog along with his brother Alan (Jamison Newlander), but alas, Corey Haim is nowhere to be found. The trailer for The Lost Boys: The Thirst seems to be getting pretty far away from what I remember the original film being, and plays more like a low-rent Blade knockoff than anything else. The plot also seems to borrow ideas from True Blood, with vampire blood now being sold to humans as a designer drug. A while back there was talk...

When news came out back in 2008 that a sequel to the classic 80s movie, The Lost Boys was going to be made, mixed opinions started to form as to whether it was a good idea and whether it would be any good. It was a straight to DVD release and when I saw Lost Boys: The Tribe, it made an Ok movie but didn’t have the originality that the first movie did. We we knew that would happen didn’t we?
Dread Central have now debuted the trailer for the third installment of the Lost Boys franchise, this time called Lost Boys: The Thirst which sees 80s legend, Corey Feldman as Edgar Frog back to fight the vampire once again, this time ably assisted by his brother Alan Frog (Jamison Newlander) who we saw in the first movie.

Lost Boys 3: The Thirst, is the latest movie in the Lost Boys franchise. This third entry in the series is directed by Dario Piana and written by Evan Charnov and sees actor Corey Feldman returning for a third time around as:
…veteran vampire hunter Edgar Frog [who] finds himself destitute and almost friendless, he thinks his live has hit bottom – but wealthy vampire-romance novelist Gwen Liebling offers him a small fortune to go on the vampire hunt of a lifetime and rescue her son Peter from the Alpha Vampire D.J.Dusk. With the help of his friends Zoe, Lars and Blake, Edgar heads into a bloody battle to exterminate evil.
Dread Central got the scoop on the first trailer for the film, which looks to be an action-packed kick-ass sequel. Good to see Jamison Newlander in this trailer, and hear the epic “Cry Little Sister” on the soundtrack too:...

The Lost Boys is a huge favorite amongst the horror fanbase. Lost Boys 2? Not so much. Okay, so it sucked. Big time. With a third one coming at us soon, all we can do is hope for the best, and the trailer for it has just debuted. Let us know what you think below.
Star Corey Feldman has promised fans a much better next entry, and we have to admit some of the new stills are intriguing. Look for the Dario Piana directed sequel co-starring Jamison Newlander, Sean Cameron Michael, Seb Catang, and Tanit Phoenix possibly as early as this fall.

At the very least Lost Boys 3: The Thirst couldn't possibly be worse than Lost Boys 2: The Tribe was, could it? Corey Feldman (and his hair) has been a familiar face in my city before. Seeing him always made me chuckle because I could smell the desperation from a mile away. I don’t generally make it a habit to pick on celebrities–it’s too easy, but Feldman’s new Lost Boys: The Thirst photos featured on Arrow in the Head made me feel kind of bad for the aging D-list celebrity. The Thirst is currently filming in South Africa with Dario Piana directing a script by Evan Charnov. Corey Feldman returns as Edgar Frog, now a veteran vampire-hunter and surfboard shaper. The synopsis for upcoming Dtv sequel Lost Boys 3: The Thirst mentions Gwen Liebling, a wealthy vampire-romance novelist who hires Edgar Frog to rescue her son, and today we learned who would be playing said novelist: South African model and actress Tanit Phoenix.
The news comes courtesy of Moviehole. According to Ms. Phoenix's MySpace page, Tanit Phoenix is beautiful enough to seduce at will and brawny enough to kick ass when necessary. To put it in simpler terms: She'll own you in the bedroom, and she'll have your back in a bar fight. After all, her name means "goddess of the love," and she's trained in the explosive art of Muay Thai boxing. The South African edition of FHM gave her further beauty dues by featuring her on its 100 Sexiest Women list.

During our Splatter interview, the online series he stars in, Feldman revealed he leaves for South Africa next week to begin shooting. Many people may not even be aware that there was a Lost Boys sequel, but last year saw the release of Lost Boys: The Tribe. The title became a straight-to-dvd sensation, making back its $5 million dollar budget in just three weeks of DVD sales. The Tribe saw the return of Corey Feldman as Edgar Frog, a vampire hunter with an attitude, as well as Angus Sutherland filling in for his brother Kiefer. Corey Haim returned as well, but only for one scene at the end of the movie, while the other Frog brother, Jamison Newlander, only appeared in an alternate ending found on the DVD. Feldman told ShockTillYouDrop that the Frog Brothers will reunite for the third installment, titled Lost Boys: The Thirst.
We can't give away that much information right now. All I can tell you is this is officially the return of the Frog Brothers. We've gone through many stories.
