American Murderer (November 4)

American Murderer is a true crime thriller drama film written and directed by Matthew Gentile. Based on the story of Jason Derek Brown, the 2022 film follows Jason Derek Brown, a charismatic con man who becomes a fugitive and wanted by the FBI after he commits his biggest crime yet. American Murderer stars Tom Pelphrey, Idina Menzel, Ryan Phillippe, Jacki Weaver, Shantel VanSanten, Paul Schneider, Kevin Corrigan, and Moisés Arias.

Orphan 3 is reportedly happening with Isabelle Fuhrman returning to the role of Esther.

Scribe David Coggeshall and director William Brent Bell (“The Boy” franchise), who worked on the previous installment, Orphan: First Kill, are also back. Lionsgate is selling the movie at AFM with Dark Castle Entertainment producing. Storyline, like all horror movies, is under wraps.

The entire franchise between two movies has grossed $115M per Box Office Mojo. The 2009 movie was released by Warner Bros and directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and made close to $78M WW. The movie starred Vera Farmiga, Peter Sarsgaard and Fuhrman. It followed a husband and wife who recently lost their baby, and who adopt a 9-year-old girl who isn’t so innocent.

Hustlers saw Lopez explore a bit of new territory. The actor generated a lot of buzz playing the role of a veteran stripper taking another younger dancer under her wing. Lopez turned 50 at the time, and had already starred in a wide variety of films. But even with all of her experience, Hustlers still managed to take Lopez out of her comfort zone.

“I’m used to being on stage in sexy costumes, but I have three layers of tights and fishnets and a bodysuit,” Lopez once said in an interview with Standard.

Damien Thorn is the Antichrist, and the trilogy that tells his unholy tale remains popular almost fifty years later. Indeed, while putting together this movie ranked list and revisiting the original Omen franchise, we were surprised at how well the old movies held up. Omen fans will be happy that the series has been restarted in a pretty interesting way earlier this year, with The First Omen a surprisingly excellent prequel to the original trilogy (check out our interviews with the director and cast here), even if it takes one large liberty involving Damien’s birth that some fans may have an issue with. So, how do the Omen films rank against each other? Let’s take a look, but remember that the TV series Damien (which lasted for one season in 2016) is not included, as we’re sticking with feature films.

The Omen (2006)

There’s honestly no reason for this movie to exist.

Written and directed by Heather Graham, Chosen Family is a heartwarming and hilariously relatable film that navigates the complexities of relationships with a blend of comedy and drama.

Featuring an ensemble cast, including Graham, John Brotherton, Andrea Savage, Michael Gross, Julie Halston, Thomas Lennon, and Julia Stiles, the film brings humour and heart to its exploration of family and connection and is a must-watch date movie (you'll walk away with a bigger smile on your face than you did after watching Joker: Folie à Deux). 

So, while Chosen Family isn't a comic book movie, we couldn't pass up the chance to talk with Heather after checking this one out.

The production, directed by The Public Theater’s resident director Saheem Ali, is slated to take place in August 2025.
