The Big Bang Theory presented a stunning ensemble of actors. But in the world of television, where shows are premiered every now and then, comparisons are inevitable. The same happened to Tbbt as well in a past interview. Interestingly, the show was being compared to the likes of other sitcoms such as Three’s Company and Friends.

But while Johnny Galecki welcomed the Friends comparisons, he looked quite annoyed when Tbbt was compared with the John Ritter starrer.

Over the past few years, with the rise of the social-media marketing ecosystem, the word “authenticity” has been increasingly integrated into the pop culture consciousness. As used by brands in pitch meetings and slide decks, it’s an ineffable commodity possessed by a rarified few in the creator space who seem to start trends, rather than follow them. According to brands, it’s the reason why followers connect with certain influencers — not, as one would otherwise suspect, because of their predilection for posting bikini photos or selfies with rappers and NHL players.

Fred Roos, the casting director turned producer who jump-started the career of Jack Nicholson and collaborated often with Francis Ford Coppola, sharing a best picture Oscar with the filmmaker for The Godfather Part II, has died. He was 89.
Roos died Saturday at his home in Beverly Hills, a publicist announced.
It’s part of Hollywood lore that before Harrison Ford became a famous actor, he was laboring as a carpenter to make ends meet. What some might not know is that it was at Roos’ house where Ford was woodworking when the casting director befriended him, eventually pushing him for roles in George Lucas’ American Graffiti (1973) and Star Wars (1977) and Coppola’s The Conversation (1974).
And it was Roos who convinced Lucas — who had been leaning toward Amy Irving — that Carrie Fisher should portray Princess Leia in Star Wars. (Roos did not have an official role on that film.)

“Chip! Our mother is Charles Manson!”
What does it mean to be a good mother? Is it the ability to cook the perfect meatloaf or a talent for bird calls? Is it an impeccably turned out family each Sunday morning and an organized recycling setup? These may be important to a picture-perfect suburban life, but when it comes to being an effective mother, they’re merely window dressing. What truly makes a mother succeed is a dedication to the wellbeing of her children. But should that extend to murder? John Waters explores these questions in the 1994 film Serial Mom featuring a murderous mom who will do anything to give her kids a happy life.

In a recent episode of the Still Here Hollywood Podcast with Steve Kmetko, John Ritter’s widow, Amy Yasbeck, talked about how she orchestrated a reunion between her husband and Suzanne Somers after a long falling-out period.
The two starred opposite in the hit sitcom Three’s Company. Somers exited the show in season 5 in a salary dispute with producers.
“I didn’t do it in a sneaky way,” Yasbeck, 61, recalled to Kmetko of the reunion. “We were at the premiere of Victor/Victoria on Broadway [in 1995], and at the intermission, I went to the ladies room and all of a sudden, Suzanne is standing there next to me.”
She introduced herself, and Somers told her that she would be singing at the after-party.
At the after-party, Somers performed Can’t Dance, Don’t Ask Me, and Ritter went to her.

“Suzanne gave the most beautiful, thoughtful gifts and she was a person of immense style and glamour in her real life, and I will never forget [that] and I still have them,” Keanan shared (via People).
Lakin said she always admired Somers growing up and watching reruns of Three’s Company.

The premise of the 1977 sitcom "Three's Company" -- adapted from the 1973 British series "Man About the House" -- would likely never fly in 2024. Roommates Janet (Joyce DeWitt) and Chrissy (Suzanne Somers) require a third roommate to pay rent in their expensive Santa Monica apartment. They stumble across Jack Tripper (John Ritter), an aspiring culinary student whom they get along with. It so happens, though, that the building's landlord, Mr. Roper (Normal Fell), is ultra-conservative and refuses to let unmarried men and women share his apartments. To get around this contrived contingency, Janet and Chrissy tell Mr. Roper that Jack is gay. This satisfies the landlord but opens Jack up to homophobic jibes.
Fell eventually left the series and was replaced by the high-strung Mr. Furley, played by Don Knotts. Mr. Furley, it seems, required the charade to continue. Somers also left the show in its last two seasons and was...

Since 1994, paying tribute to the artists and filmmakers who died in the past year has become an annual segment at the Oscars. Arguably the most emotional segment of the Night, the In Memoriam section of 2024 kicked off with the remembrance of Alexei Navalny. Other notable names that were honored in the Award ceremony included Matthew Perry, Richard Lewis, Glenda Jackson, Tina Turner, Robbie Robertson, and Ryuichi Sakamoto.
However, like each year, several deceased figures were left out of the montage, which involved many prominent figures, including John Wick Star Lance Reddick, which has caused fans to outburst.

The In Memoriam segment of the 96th Academy Awards on Sunday night paid a moving tribute to several stars and movie industry folk who have died over the last year — but, as ever, social media was quick to point out the more glaring omissions.
During the telecast, the In Memoriam segment featured Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo performing a moving rendition of “Con te partirò” as pictures of talent who have died flashed on the stage behind them. The segment opened with a tribute to the late Russian political activist Alexei Navalny, who died last month in prison in controversial circumstances.
“You’re not allowed to give up,” Navalny says in a clip from the film Navalny, which won best documentary feature at the 2023 Academy Awards. “If they decide to kill me, it means we are incredibly strong.”

The In Memoriam section of the Academy Awards is always one of the most emotional moments of the show. This year was no exception, as the 96th Oscars celebrate the performers, filmmakers and artisan talents who died in the past year. The In Memoriam segment kicked off with a remembrance of Alexei Navalny, the political prisoner who died Feb. 16 and was profiled in last year’s documentary feature winner “Navalny.”
The names unfurled onscreen was Andrea Boccelli and his son, Matteo, sang “Time to Say Goodbye.”
Every year, the Academy leaves a few beloved names out of the montage, causing anger among some viewers. Though a much longer list is presented on the Oscars.org website, outrage over who makes it onscreen is part of the Oscar-watching tradition.

Actor John Ritter hoped to realize the same success he had in Three’s Company with his spin-off show Three’s a Crowd. But certain decisions made with the program didn’t sit well with a section of the show’s audience.

Three’s Company enjoyed an incredible run for the eight seasons it ran on air. At its peak, the series was both a ratings and critical juggernaut, earning its cast and crew accolades like the Emmys and Golden Globes. Even after losing one of their key actors, the late Suzanne Somers, the show continued its momentum. Jenilee Harrison was brought on board to pick up where Somers left off, fitting right in with Ritter and Joyce DeWitt.
But Three’s Company lost considerable steam during its final season.

Actor Suzanne Somers had a highly publicized feud with her Three’s Company castmates. But upon reflecting on their grudge, Somers felt that her business mind got in the way of her professional relationships.

Somers’ exit from Three’s Company wasn’t an amicable one. The Three’s Company star left the series after five seasons because of a pay dispute. This resulted in a rift between Somers and the Three’s Company cast that took many years to repair.
But according to the late Somers, there was some tension between herself and the Three’s Company cast before her departure. Jamie Lee Curtis Drew Inspiration From This ‘Three’s Company’ Star for Her ‘Freaky Friday’ Character
Actor Jamie Lee Curtis had to rely on a lot of physical comedy for her role in Freaky Friday. So, the star took a cue from this Three’s Company alum to inform her performance.
How this ‘Three’s Company’ star affected Jamie Lee Curtis’ ‘Freaky Friday’ performance John Ritter, Suzanne Somers, Joyce Dewitt | ABC Photo Archives/Getty Images
Curtis had the chance to show off her comedic chops by doing the 2003 feature Freaky Friday. The movie saw Curtis and Lohan playing a mother and daughter who switched bodies. In a resurfaced interview with Phase 9, Curtis asserted that Freaky Friday might’ve been the most successful feature she made at the time. The project fell in Curtis’ lap during a period where she was exploring interests other than acting. But apart from liking the film’s script, everything about Freaky Friday accommodated Curtis’ situation. In the end, Curtis felt she had to do the movie.

Matthew Perry, star of Friends, is dead. The sitcom star rose to fame in the 1990s on Friends and enjoyed an impressive movie career through the early 2000s. Three’s Company star Suzanne Somers passed away on October 15 at the age of 76, and we now know the official cause of death. According to the death certificate obtained by The Blast, Somers died from breast cancer that had metastasized to the brain. The immediate cause of death was listed as “breast cancer with metastasis to the brain,” with hypertension and hydrocephalus also noted as contributing factors. The Mayo Clinic says, “Hydrocephalus is the buildup of fluid in cavities called ventricles deep within the brain. The excess fluid increases the size of the ventricles and puts pressure on the brain.” Somers’ death certificate states the actress had been battling hydrocephalus for over a year. In July 2022, she was given an “intracerebral ventricular shunt” to treat the condition and help remove excess fluid from her brain. The former Step By Step actress was first diagnosed with breast cancer in her 50s after...

Jennifer Aniston’s no stranger to kissing co-stars. She’s done it many times throughout her career, locking lips with her friend and co-star Adam Sandler three times alone. In what just might be one of her most memorable on-screen smooches, she kissed then-teenager Will Poulter in a scene from 2013’s We’re the Millers. How Aniston felt about kissing her young co-star. Plus, why Poulter later admitted to being “very sorry” about the whole thing.
Aniston taught her movie son how to kiss in ‘We’re the Millers’
So how did Poulter’s character, Kenny, find himself kissing his fake mom in We’re the Millers? It all started with his pretend sister, Casey, played by Emma Roberts, and a conversation about kissing.

Three’s Company star Suzanne Somers made no secret of her dreams for a new version of the classic sitcom that made her a TV icon. The actor, who died on Oct. 15 at age 76, had floated an idea for a new show that would incorporate a hologram version of her late co-star John Ritter and also gave the thumbs up to the idea of Jennifer Aniston playing the Chrissy Snow character. But despite the talk, there are no plans (that we know of) to make a Three’s Company reboot a reality.

Jennifer Lopez’s movie career spans decades, but her filmography isn’t solely made up of critically acclaimed box office hits and award winners. Like many other actors, she’s starred in a few flops. According to Rotten Tomatoes, one stands out among the rest as Lopez’s worst movie. The answer, perhaps no surprise to anyone who lived through the early aughts, is Gigli.
Rotten Tomatoes has ‘Gigli’ as Jennifer Lopez’s worst movie
Lopez’s worst movie is none other than 2003’s Gigli, per Rotten Tomatoes. The comedy, which she starred in alongside her now-husband, Ben Affleck, marked the end of the original Bennifer era.
After getting to know each other during filming, romance blossomed between Affleck and Lopez, culminating in an engagement (Remember J.Lo’s pink ring?) and, eventually, a canceled wedding.

No singing genes for Kelly Clarkson’s kids. Or at least that’s what the Grammy winner’s hoping. Clarkson doesn’t want her two children to have any of her musical talents. Yes, really. The reason is, in part, because the industry’s especially “tough.” But also because Clarkson is “afraid of what kind of mom” she’d be if they were.

The “Since U Been Gone” singer would be fine if her children, 2-year-old son Remington “Remy” Alexander and 4-year-old daughter River Rose, had nothing to do with the music industry.

Particularly in the age of streaming, it's hard to imagine another show living a life like the one that "Three's Company" did throughout the late '70s and early '80s. Spanning eight seasons and more than 170 episodes, it's the kind of run that relatively few scripted TV shows can ever claim, but especially now. It also made absolute stars of its cast, perhaps most notably Suzanne Somers, who recently passed away at the age of 76. She played the lovable Chrissy Snow alongside John Ritter's Jack Tripper and Joyce DeWitt's Janet Wood. But it turns out that Somers' life-changing casting happened essentially by accident.

One fictional apartment in Santa Monica, California is a little less funny now. Suzanne Somers passed away at the age of 76 on October 15, 2023. She was one of the main cast members in the 1970s/80s series "Three's Company" alongside John Ritter and Joyce DeWitt, playing the joyful and (as much as I hate this word) ditzy Christmas "Chrissy" Snow. As someone who watched the show as a very tiny person, I've seen most of the episodes. What I didn't know was that Somers was also playing another character, hiding in plain sight the whole time.
"Three's Company" was based on the British show "Man About the House," and ran on ABC from 1977-1984, with Somers playing her role in seasons 1-5, leaving after contract negotiations failed. The show centered around two women, Chrissy Snow and Janet Wood (DeWitt), who lose their roommate and need someone to take over her portion of the rent.

It’s hard to overstate the late 1970s stardom of Suzanne Somers, who died on Oct. 15 in Palm Springs at 76. “Three’s Company” made Somers one of the most popular faces on TV, thanks to Chrissy Snow, the naive and charming character she played on the ABC sitcom. Somers fought for equal pay decades before it became a rallying cry for female actors — and she wound up getting fired for it. But Somers bounced back with TV series like “She’s the Sheriff” and “Step by Step,” and became a ubiquitous author and TV pitch woman. Perhaps even more importantly, she inspired a new generation of stars — including Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg. Here, the ‘Masked Singer’ panelist, SiriusXM host and performer pays tribute to her mentor and longtime friend.

The acclaimed hit series "Three's Company" was no different, although the reason for why late star Suzanne Somers was ultimately fired from the production more than halfway through the show's acclaimed run is certain to raise eyebrows. In fact, it remains every bit as insidious now as it was at the time.
Somers sadly passed away this week at the age of 76, leaving behind a wide-ranging legacy that largely stems from giving one of television's most famous performances. As the "dumb blonde" Chrissy Snow, Somers made up the all-important third leg of the trio that also included co-stars John Ritter as Jack Tripper and Joyce DeWitt as Janet Wood. Together, the three formed the backbone for "Three's Company" and its premise of three singles...

The family of Suzanne Somers is grappling with their loss. Just a day after her death at age 76, her son Bruce Somers, Jr. shared a heartstring-tugging tribute to the Three’s Company actress.
“She soared higher than most can dream. She protected those who didn’t have a voice. She asked the questions most didn’t know to ask,” Bruce wrote. “She shared her challenges and brought light to solutions. To so many, she was a brave warrior who articulated their fears. She wasn’t fearless, but she faced them so we could learn.

Actress Suzanne Somers died in her sleep on Sunday morning, just hours after she read a poem her husband Alan Hamel wrote her.
Somers married Hamel, a Canadian entertainer and film producer, in 1977 after ten years together. A day before Somers’ 77th birthday, Hamel, 87, decided to give her his poem a day early.
After Somers read the poem, she went to bed and died in her sleep a few hours later.
The poem is written in all caps and reads:
“Love I Use It Every Day, Sometimes Several Times A Day. I Use It At The End Of Emails To My Loving Family. I Even Use It In Emails To Close Friends. I Use It When I’M Leaving The House.”
“There’S Love, Then Love You And I Love You!! Therein Lies Some Of The Different Ways We Use Love. Sometimes I Feel Obliged To Use Love, Responding To...

Her death was announced by producer Jim Pierson of Dan Curtis Productions, on behalf of Parker’s family.
