Frontera
FRONTERA is a story of two childhood companions: Louise, a young Texan ranch wife, and Mary Catherine, a lonely young woman entrenched in the conservative ways of old Texas. Ignored by her idle husband and faced with financial ruin, Louise turns to the South Texas borderÂ’s burgeoning drug trade for her own source of income. As the local drug cartel ensnares Louise, she struggles to keep separate a God-fearing community and a godless employer. Suspicious of her friendÂ’s behavior, Mary Catherine digs too deep, endangering the lives of all involved.
“The fact that the heightened cartel violence across Texas and other border states has remained a shocking blind-spot in the awareness of the American public inspired the production of this film. Over the past several years, Mexican Drug Cartels have escalated their use of ‘silver or lead’ tactics to lure vulnerable American civilians into increasing their involvement in cartel activities. Cartels often offer a deal that cannot be refused: large sums of money for menial favors, or the death of a family member.” —Director and Writer Lacey Dorn.
